Stop trashing your customer's character creation because you think they're taking too long.

I was tweaking the hell out of my future character, I finally had everything set, and ESO decides I took too long and kicks me out. All that time, making him just right, and you flush him away. My screen was not inactive for a moment. Is it that difficult to detect when changes have been made to the creation screen, that you think I'm inactive? Is it too challenging to program a pop up, asking if we're still working on it? You could even have a timer appear letting us know that we're taking too long, and wasting your network's resources.

To kick a player out of character creation, without so much as a warning, is just plain thoughtless.

You have no idea how many times this has happened to me because I don't have a name until I decide what I want my character to look like. The name has to fit the character or it's no fun.

Well it should detect if your in character creator or just the charater sheet part of the game.
I understand why they made it so it disconnects if your afk more then two minutes for the character sheet it helps with server lag, and loading. But yeah character creator should not have that problem.

Has anyone heard if they plan to implement more hair styles, facial hair and/or tattoos and markings? I love Sai Sahan's look (especially his beard). The options for beards in-game at the moment are pretty pathetic and sad.

I want red hair for Khajiit. How else am I to make a Razum-dar doppleganger?

I know right? There are tons of red-haired Khajiit npcs in the game. They even have red whiskers!

Nords need a true black hair color, too (their darkest tone is a very dark brown, not true black), and Imperials do not have a good red hair too. Someone a while ago complained the Bosmer do not have a pure white hair color either, but I never noticed that and I can't check right now because I don't have any free character slots.

This has happened to me many times in the past few months. I feel your pain. You cant leave the screen idle for more than 20-30 seconds before it will kick you out and all of your progression gone. Its infuriating. This also happens to me at the Character Select screen. These things never occurred before the Orsinium patch.

I even contacted customer support about this, they had the nerve to tell me, working as intended "if not active for 15 minutes it will kick you". Except its happening at less than 1 minute.

@ZOS_GinaBruno I dont know if this is a known issue to you guys or something swept under the rug but it really is very irritating and though Im sure you have more important things to do, it would be nice if this annoyance was looked in to.

My big problem is with the character creation screen constantly crashing...just as I start to finalize my darned character. I've tried disabling addons, have the most up to date drivers, etc. As a result, sometimes I panic just trying to get through the process and end up creating ugly characters that I have to delete, lol. Then I come up against the deletion timer...grrr. It has been rather frustrating.

@Nestor Your comment about the Pillsbury character made me laugh. My poor sorcerer who unfortunately is 40 and is in the Daggerfall Covenent because I wasn't aware of Caldwell's Gold allowing me to see everything, has that pinched face with close set eyes. I also picked un unfortunate name. Guess that is why I never get anyone flirting with me---they all run away when they see her! I eventually will delete her unless I can change her race, appearance, faction and name, lol (yeah, she is a disaster).

Not if all the ugly naked people I see in the bank are any indication. On the other hand, there can't be that many random selections running around because I usually start with a random face then tweak from there and I get way too many wrinkly old women and I never see wrinkly old women as players.

I spend an inordinate amount of time tweaking my characters and then an equal amount of time finding just the right name for that particular character and have never been kicked out for taking too long so the OP must spend a lot of time or Zos has cut the allowable time without letting us know. That should be perfectly all right because it is an intrinsic part of game play for many and should count as such. Just because a player is not whacking wuffs doesn't mean they're not playing the game.

Probably not the only one, but you most certainly are among the tiniest minority :P

I can spend many hours designing a character ..unfortunately I get kicked, so I memorize my choices and change them back as fast as possible, after being kicked 2-3 times I may be ready to give my char a name and start playing >.<

I went through it twice. The second time I was almost done. I prefer to take my time and try to get my character right on the first try. I've had a couple in the past I did too fast and had to delete and redo a few times. Never again. I just want to create a nice looking character. After all, I have to look at it. Is it so much to ask?

I haven't had this happen, as I haven't created a new character in a while, but man... this would hit me SO HARD if I were. When I first started out, I think I must have taken something like an hour or more before I was satisfied with my first character.

I then took screenshots of all the sliders, so that I could recall the template later.

I'd be pretty cheesed off if any of that got interrupted and I had to try and recall it from memory and/or eyeball it...

@ZOS_GinaBruno - Perhaps a popup warning with a timer would be optimal? "You have been detected as idle for 15 minutes. You will be logged out in ((countdown)) if you do not press OK."

Also, it would be nice if we could save templates to our account... Come back to work on it later, or copy a base body/face type that we like, which we can then tweak when creating new.

I too take my time and have been kicked before while still actively in the process.

I was having trouble getting everything just right on the last one I made but I 'felt' like I was getting close to that unknown point of losing everything so I decided to just go ahead and go with it. It bothers me now every time I see the character from certain angles.

I'm just hoping that the barber shop will allow me to make the corrections that I felt unable to make in the initial process.

I *really* like both ideas mentioned above. Having both a popup/interactive 'Hey I'm still working on this' feature as well as a 'Save this template' feature would make creation so much faster and easier.

100% agree. I spent like 40 minutes once trying to make this character look EXACTLY the way I wanted. Went to do something for like 5 minutes and came back to erased progress.

    My response: "Wait.... Why?" *confusion

Proceeded to play on a V16 afterward.
