Am I right in thinking....

So when we do get round to loosing vr ranks any character that is at vr1 or above will become the highest rank it's terms of level ?

I have heard that gear will be ranked off of cp ? So all you would need to do is to craft new gear that goes in line with the new system and you could be sitting at end game gear (if you have enough saved to craft right away).

If so I think this will be good for the game as people can start to enjoy the game to unlock new things instead of trying to hit max level, I personally think there could be an increase of crafters as more time will be able to be spend on levelling these skill lines instead of just farming xp!

With the new system, it will require the same amount of xp to gain access to endgame gear as it does grinding to v16 now.

Will the gear rank from cp? If so then as cp are account wide that means all characters I have will be at the same level with the same amount of cp ?

This confuses me too, what will actually happen when they remove VR levels? They add just regular new lv like 51 and so on or...?

I don't think that is correct, since it takes much less XP to gain 160 CP than it does to reach VR16. Basically to reach endgame you need to get 160 CP (which you only have to do once, since it is account wide), and then get any character to level 50, which is much quicker than going through the vet ranks.

To my understanding, they are going to essentially make 160 CP the VR16 equivalent when they remove Vet ranks. So VR5 gear would become 50 CP gear, VR10 gear would become 100 CP gear, etc.. This also means that once you have 160 CP on your account, all other characters will be at level cap as soon as they hit level 50.

So my plan between now and the next update is to get to at least 160 CP on my account, and then level all my alts to at least level 50. This would mean that once they remove Vet ranks all my characters will be at the level cap.

I think they will just add gear that requires more CP to use instead of adding more levels.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

It may take less time because of enlightenment, but as it stands on live with the catch-up mechanic you need a couple million more XP to hit cp160 than to hit vr16.

Fair enough, but I will say to the OP that the difference in time required due to enlightenment to reach 160 CP vs VR16 is not insignificant. I have one Vet character, who is VR9, and I've already gotten more than 160 CP, and I started gaining CP before they even implemented the catchup mechanic. Between the catchup mechanic and enlightenment, you can probably reach 160CP before VR8, meaning it'll probably take less than half the time required to reach VR16. Along with the fact that CP is shared account wide, this means it'll take substantially less time to reach the level cap after they remove Vet ranks.

I think they may look to make levels 1-50 need more xp than currently needed once the Vr ranks are removed!

I will be doing the same and ranking my alts to level 50 just in case!

Thank you! I knew I wasn't the only one!

I'm complaining about the lack of black hair for Altmer since beta, and I even made a compilation of pics of Altmer npcs with black hair in the game to throw at people who say I can't have a black-haired Altmer.

But about the way they will do that CP gear thing, it is really just a guess. They are going to raise the CP cap by 51 with every DLC starting with the Dark Brotherhood, too, so there's that.

It is an interesting thing, being able to stay above the cap before the cap is raised. I can't say that I ever saw something like this in a MMO before.

You mean attribute points too? They are going ... NOWHERE lol.

They will make it where you gain those points still, so like you gain 1.2 per level so at level 5 you have 6 points (an example to show what they have considered)

This is why, on top of my main V16 NB, I have levelled a temp to VR1, and I'm currently mid 30's with my DK.

I will say though, with this change, any real class imbalances will become much more apparent with so many players having access to max lvl characters much easier.
