Provisioning Update
Vendors now sell recipes used in Provisioning Writs, which will ensure provisioners are able to reasonably complete any Provisioning Writ received.
  • Food recipes will appear on Chefs, while drink recipes show up on Brewers.
  • The recipes offered are based on your current level of Recipe Improvement, though they also will offer recipes from the previous rank as well.
  • Provisioning Writs will no longer reward these recipes.
  • Completing the certification quest for Provisioning will directly provide the recipes needed for the first tier of writs to ensure novice provisioners can immediately undertake the quests.

Of course this means the market for writ recipes in guild stores will collapse... Not that I really care, as I list my green recipes cheap in the hopes that guildies will be able to get ones that they're missing. In fact, I make so little off the recipes I sell that it's kind of a waste of my time and store slots to sell them - I'd be better off vendoring them, but then I'd be potentially depriving guildies of recipes that they might need.

Provisioning Writ Recipes are a good thing to have in the stores. Finding them if you do not know them to make the writs was a pain as recipes are typically lumped in with all the Legerdemain Loot so the chances of finding what you need are small.

True they are about the only Green recipes that are worth listing on the guild stores anymore, but that's OK. I would rather have folks doing writs than chasing down recipes.

Aww, there goes my brilliant enterprise of funneling all of my excess fish into the fishy stick market. Better sell off what I can in the next month.

Overall good for provisioners not to have to rely on the fickleness of container loot or guild traders though. I wonder how much the recipes will cost from the merchants.

Hopefully it will be expensive, like 150 Gold or more*. This will still allow the Guild Markets to do their thing,b ut allow those who can't find the recipe a way to get it. Kind of like how the Provisioning Ingredients are from the Grocers. Expensive so you don't rely on them, but there in case you need them.

*That is not expensive to end game player, but to fresh players still washing the sulfur stink of the wailing prison off, something that will take some effort, but not arduous.

Did they stop us from selling Fishy Sticks to the in game NPC Merchants? Or are these a writ food and your selling through guild stores? It has been so long since I have done L1 Provisioning writs, I forgot what they asked for. Anyway, that market seemed to have dried up a long time ago, at least for me.

Reminds me, I have a 100 stack of Lemon Flower Matze I need to get rid of.

I give all my green recipes (and sometimes blue) away for free - f.ex. by putting them in the guild bank  But it will be nice to have the option of buying recipes from merchants, since some recipes are quite hard to come by - since everybody needs the same recipes for the writs, they are the first recipes to be bought from stores and taken from banks.

Writ foods sold through guild stores. I get a lot of fish from my achievement/perfect roe hunting, and fishy sticks are one of the few things that people will actually buy for more than I'd get by just selling the ingredients.

I like the idea of being able to use my crafting skills to make money, but sadly Provisioning doesn't offer too many opportunities that way.

    Well, I do. Sigh.

Honestly, it's as if Zenimax doesn't want an economy in it's game at all. Selling racial motifs in the Crown Store ruined that market. Now the market for recipes will crash.

Really, Zenimax? Why does everything in your game have to be soooo easy? Make your players work for something. It's okay. They'll get over it.

I have started to make the highest level Green foods and drinks I can for that ingredient and selling the stacks to in game NPC merchants. Making a decent amount of gold that way. I have actually stopped selling my ingredients in the guild stores. Which is not going to help with my 20 listings minimums that I have.

I'm starting to wonder if the guilds stores will have anything other than decon crap for leveling and mats. I made a lot of gold laundering and reselling the new max level writs with Orsinium, and those were dropping like rice at a wedding.

I appreciate they are trying to relieve some of the pain of the low level provisioning writs, but couldn't they have just increased the drop rate on them?

That said, I'll be happy to not be getting my 153rd copy of the Muthsera's Remorse Recipe.

Columbine is not hard to find, it's about as common as mountain flower, blessed thistle, dragonthorn and others in that group. On my normal 10 minute fetch run I have 12 possible locations for this type of ingredient, which I pass twice, so that the chance is high, to get Columbine with every such run (if I don't do the fetch run at prime time, that is). The reason, why it is not sold that much, is more that it is a rather useful ingredient in potions and is used more often than listed in guild stores.

I do this kind of writs every day for 8 characters, so I guess, I have a bit of an impression, how rare or common these ingredients are. Maybe you will just have to find a better location to do your fetch runs, with more possible locations to encounter this plant - or have the keen eye perk for alchemy ingredients, which is very helpful in locations where you are not that familiar with - especially at night time, where you can just run around and see the ingredients light up in the dark.

The downside of this change is, that you will not get recipes as writ-rewards any longer. This was one of my favorite resources for getting new recipes. But it might as well mean, that there will be now more often ingredients in this reward.

Wait. Is it just the green recipes that you won't get out of packages anymore? Or is it all of them? Those packages were a decent source of purple recipes.
