An Idea for Group Class Synergy Sets

So I messaged @Wrobel awhile ago about these and I think it would be interesting to bring sets into the game in a unique way for people who like to play the "Support" Role in the group and introduce Class Buff sets

For instance wearing a set of 5 will increase the damage of Aedric Spear abilities by 5% for up to 6 Templars in your group, it would work quite well for PvP and PvE and would give unique roles to certain players while also increasing the need for teamwork and group synergy. Not only that but we could get an amazing Style Motif from class specific sets ;)

I think the problem with this is the majority of people will fail to see how useful this is and that it has the potential to be "overpowered" in pvp. Although most pvp groups are spamming weapon based aoes and not class skills so maybe not. Imagine a buff to ardent flame or siphoning skill tree. It's a good thought. I think the game needs more class interplay and group dynamics. Also it'd be cool to have sets that increased the effects or duration of guild skills like entropy or trap beast

might work but then again we kinda have already passives for that in the champion point treelines.
but it would make a new type of set which is great for maybe healers and tanks. practice will show for which is the best. and i don't think it would be op in PvP because only synergy i see used in PvP is shards. people tend to be pretty preoccupied with themself. just look at the forum you see the same type of behaviour

I think he meant synergy as in the traditional sense of the word and not pressing the synergy button. I agree the majority of players are only interested in stuff that benefits themselves and solo play. I think that a set like this would only get proper use by raid groups and serious end game players but Zos would have to make the sets good enough for a min/maxer to find them useful

Perhaps if they made some of these sets only able to be worn by particular classes? Therefore increasing the need for a mixed team, and not just lots of NB's.
I have departed into the great unknown that is outside the game and the forums, and wish you well in your Tamriel adventures!

    DC - PC - EU - Australian
VR11 Mrderrikk: Breton Stam Sorc (Vamp) | VR16 Derrikkinblack: Dunmer Mage DK | VR3 Cuts-Until-It-Dies: Argonian Magicka NB

    Oh look, Anook.

I would say the class abilities can already complement one another quite well, but the problem is getting the players to use them in that way. You don't normally get that level of communication in a pve pug (which is how I primarily play). Unless you have tried playing all classes, you wouldn't necessarily know what strengths and weaknesses each one has, therefore you wouldn't know how you can complement your team mates best. In fact, one can argue a lot of players don't even know their own class very well, but that's a whole separate problem...

I do have to say that from my experience the most satisfying runs are with groups made up of all 4 classes, because that way you are covered for anything. Sure a group with dps that allows them to burn through anything might be quicker, but it's not nearly as much fun. I do like it when the bosses' mechanics actually vary the gameplay. I like feeling that I'm needed eg. when, as the only NB in the group, I have to time my Incapacitating Strike well or the boss will heal through the damage we've been doing.

I haven't tried using the group synergy gear that drops in dungeons, but I'm sure when it was viable (now it's all v14), it must have been great for a guild run...
