Returning player in need of help

Hello,
I'm back in the game after a long stop. I played at release, got annoyed by the veteran farming (I hope it got better, by the way) and stopped playing. Back in game 2 days ago, and I'm kinda stumped. I am lvl 50 veteran 4 and I cannot kill *anything*. I can kill a lone enemy, but that's it. Two at a time? I'm dead, and FAST. I've lost count of how many times I died. I cannot do any quest. I cannot do any dungeon. I can't do NOTHING. I'm a nightblade, got a rank 2 greatsword and green armor (mixed rank, from 1 to 3). I have *no idea* how I can stop dying so much, and I'm quite a veteran of mmorpgs.
Anyone able to help me?

    Okay, what abilities are on your skill bars, and what armor sets comprise the mixed rank green armor? Also, what's your attribute point allocation?

    Are you wearing at least 5 pieces of medium armor? Having a set or two would also help you.

    VR enemies were made much easier a while ago, your problem is most probably very easy to fix: Something as simple as blocking, bashing and moving when you need to makes a BIG difference (In other games, you can just stay still and spam skill buttons until the enemy dies... ESO is more dynamic).

    If you're on EU I can craft you any set, free of charge.

    Yeah, I did apply *some* of the points, got all the class skills and morphed them, and some others. Not sure if I should save some of them. I've assigned all the constellation points.

    I'm in a similar situation, also just started playing recently after a long break. Still figuring out a new build as well, but from what I can see of your stats, you may want to move some of those points out of health and into stamina. Your weapon damage, max stamina and stamina recovery are relatively low if you are relying on stamina abilities for your primary dps.

    Also, what are the main skills that you use for CC, DoT and primary dps (like ambush + surprise attack, etc)?

    It's certainly possible to complete all the Cadwell's Silver and Gold areas without any specific build using armor sets, just random green gear. However, if you take a bit of time to figure this out it becomes a lot easier, and many low level sets can be purchased dirt cheap in various guild stores.

    @DT_Fuzb16_ESO

    I believe your stats are too spread out to be effective. It appears you are a stamina build, so I would start by switching your magicka points into stamina, which will increase your damage by a noticeable amount. I would put any further attribute points you gain as you level to vr16 into stamina as well, and down the road when you get a little more familiar with the ESO since you left, you could move some or all of your points in health into stamina as well. Also, it may be necessary to reallocate your champion points, depending on how they are currently set up. With a 2h I recommend starting in Mighty, Mooncalf, and Hearty.

    If you aren't already wearing sets, find someone who can craft you a set or two to help you out. As a 2h build I recommend a 5 set of Hundings Rage. The other 2 pieces of armor and your 2h and bow can be Night Mother's Gaze, which will boost your weapon critical. After that, if your weapon crit chance is <50%, I recommend running the Thief mundus. If it's >50%, go with the Shadow for crit damage. If neither of those suits you, or if you have troubles with stamina recovery, use the Serpent.

    Please post what skills you are using so we can analyze and determine areas for improvement.

    Edit: One more really important thing: If you aren't using a food buff, it's a really good idea to start doing that, and don't ever stop! I recommend using food that boosts your max health + max stamina, but not magicka.

    Couple questions:
    * Do you use food/potions? Even dropped/stolen stuff can be valuable.
    * Do you have the passives? And for two-hander, do you use the damage shield?
    * Where have you spent your champion points?
    * What kind of armor do you use/do you have points spent in the armor skill lines.
    * Which ultimate do you use/do you switch it up based on enemies?

    You're right, here's my current skillbar:

    I'm using a 2h only because:
    - I've got a good blue rank 3
    - I want to level every weapon to 50 (the 2h is currently 49)

    * rarely. I'm kinda cheap and most of my inventory is taken up by stuff I'm keeping for research -_-
    * Currently no points in 2h, I have a good number of passives that seemed useful
    * shadow (shade 6), ritual (mighty 6), steed (resistant 5)
    * 4 medium, 3 heavy. I bought some of the medium passives
    * Incapacitanting Strike, actually not switching§

    By the way, thanks a lot everyone for helping me.

    I actually did a bunch of questing, and when time came to turn in the quests I just equipped the weapon I wanted to level. That being said - you're only V4; you have time to level your weapons.
    * rarely. I'm kinda cheap and most of my inventory is taken up by stuff I'm keeping for research -_-
    Make a mule-alt. It'll make all the difference. And seriously, take some time to make some health/stam V1 food. It'll make a difference.

    Get one more piece of medium armor for the 5-set damage bonus.

    Passives you should have:
    Assassination:
    * Master Assassin
    * Pressure points
    * Hemorrage(NEEDED)
    Shadow:
    * Refreshing Shadow
    Siphoning:
    * Catalyst(if you have points).
    Two-Handed:
    * Forceful
    * Heavy Weapons.
    * Balanced Blade(if you do decide to use 2-H abilities).
    * Follow Up.
    * Battle Rush(if you have points).
    Medium Armor:
    * Dexterity
    * Wind-Walker
    * Agility
    * Athletics(if you have points)
    Fighter's Guild:
    * Slayer

    Skill Points Used: 24/32

    Do you have a second weapon-bar? If not, I'd suggest a resto-stave with healing ward and Illustrious Healing.

    Also, you've got a stam-heavy build, you might consider getting rid of those points in magicka.

    Edit! Forgot - Max ranks in Dynamic as well. So 27/35 Skill points

    Honestly, your stats look crazy low for a VR4. What gear are you using? You should make sure that you're using sets that increase stats that are useful to you (you don't need best in slot gear, but you should be using dropped sets and/or crafted sets), and you should make sure that each piece has a decent enchant on it. As others have said, if you're going for a stamina-based build, you should move all of your points out of magicka and most (if not all) of your points out of health in order to put them into stamina. Ideally you would also want to be using blue food that boosts your health and stamina, but that's more important for content like group dungeons: for general questing you shouldn't need it.

    Let Ruben make you the Hundings/Night Mother gear for you. It'll help you a lot right now. After you get it, throw on some max stamina glyphs onto each piece.

    For you skills, I would recommend the following:

    1. Wrecking Blow (2H)
    - Grants Empower for the next attack. You can follow this up with a surprise attack for a nice combo.
    2. Surprise Attack (assassination)
    - Good opener, stuns and does extra damage from stealth. Follow you stealth surprise attack with a wrecking blow, then another surprise attack.
    3. Merciless Resolve (assassination)
    - Keep this buff active at all times. Use a light attack in between every single skill you do (this is called weaving, and takes practice but is very important if you want to eventually optimize your build. Start working on it now, while in a leveling setting). After 4 light attacks, this buff will change into a high damage instant-cast skill. Use it when it procs, and if you can grant Empower to it beforehand, it can hit for a massive amount. You will need to reapply the buff every time you cost the proc.
    4. Killer's Blade (assassination)
    - Execute (<25% health) A bit self-explanatory, having it on your bar will increase your crit chance by 3%.
    5. Camo Hunter (fighter's guild)
    - Simply having it on your bar grants 10% crit chance. The buff can be activated for extra damage against undead and daedra.

    welcome back. lucky for you getting 200cp is quite easy now.

    as a squishy nightblade you need to run a resto staff on your back bar to solo anything.

    A lot of places are battle leveled and your gear matters.

    You should buy a 5 piece blue hudning rage set. should be about 4k a piece.

    With a set of gear and a resto staff you will do great.

    There is your problem right there.

    I'd say you need to put it all into Stam or at least 10 Magicka 0 hp 42 stamina

    Your gear needs to reflect your style. So full medium as stated above. ( I would recommend the trait be divines )
    As for weapon precise is your best option, unless you have something specific in mind.

    My favourate set is prob Hunding's Rage, Jewelery should also be a set preferably...

    Also the skills you use and the combination you use. ( Certain skills crit more under certain circumstances, certain skills deal more dmg ( 300% more ) under certain circumstances...

    What did you use your champion points for?

    The 2 most important ones are these two:
    Mighty & Precise Strikes under the Ritual which falls under the Mage.

    I know a lot about this because I read up on it recently for my NB Khajiit.

    Also you need to practice so maybe do a bit of soloing in a lower lvl against single mobs and practice your rotation.

    A resto staff is going to be virtually useless for a pure stamina build. You are better off healing exclusively with rally. This would be a drastically different scenario if he were a magicka NB, but he's not. Keep you bow on your off bar and heal with rally in 2h.

    Edit: I feel like I should expand on this. A resto staff can be very useful even for a stamina build. But recommending a hybrid build to a new/returning player is unwise. Stick with your bow for now. You can branch out to a hybrid build later if you desire, or you can do a little pvp and unlock Vigor.
