other ways to get rid of a bounty thieves guild or anything to benefit a outlaw in tamriel

So will there be any kind of perks to breaking the law in tamriel when the thieves guild comes out. i was just wondering there isn't any new skills coming with it. neither is there going to be a new way to get a persons bounty pvp wise. so is there even going to be any new reasons to being a thief/outlaw. i always thought when the thieves guild was released it would benefit those of us that have a law breaking play style lol. At least make another option to getting rid of your bounty then just having to pay it that would be nice.

For what it's worth, it does tick down on its own over time. It takes forever on a decent sized bounty, but if you plan to camp in Cold Harbour or Cyrodiil for a couple weeks, that's an option.

Lol that's good advice but my bounty is huge so it would take a very long time

In a way yes i thought when the thieves guild came out the pvp justice part was also. were someone could claim my bounty up on killing me lol. but since that isn't going to happen i just figured there might be some way else added to getting rid of a bounty. or at least something that would benefit thieves/outlaws in some sort of way.

I think doing quests should lower you bounty. Like your doing community service that applies time for your crime

Good idea anything would be better then just having to wait it out or just flat out pay it especially if it's a huge bounty.

    Honestly, I really hope not.

It's cheesy enough that I've leveled legerdemain 100% stealing stuff in unoccupied houses, then traipse past the guards with arms full of daedric candlesticks and helm fresheners where I pop into the Outlaws Refuge in full view to fence them.

There SHOULD be penalties for being a criminal. Especially for being a sloppy criminal that gets caught a lot.

    I would like to see:
    • The guards not become unkillable gods (wait, why do you need us heroes anyway?)
    • A limited range on the bounty -- there's no reason you should be wanted in the Ebonheart Pact for crimes committed in Daggerfall.
    • A kill-the-last-witness mechanic. This would be difficult to implement successfully with player characters running around since they are also potential witnesses and you can't kill them.

OP, if PvP is not your thing, just start a new toon and play with that one for a while. Your bounty will expire eventually. :)

This just sounds boring tbh it is the thieves guild after all one would tend to think it would make some changes to the justice system especially since pvp justice isn't happening now lol

Can't pay the fine? Don't do the crime!

But for people who in a period of madness racked up millions in bounty... there could be a "Royal Pardon" in the crown store that clears all their characters criminal record. Let 'em pay their fine with crowns, make 'em regret all that crime sprees...

Alternate ways to "do your time" would also be appreciated, but they shouldn't really be shortcuts to get rid of bounty "sooner" - there ought to be incentives to steal smarter, not harder; to be a proper criminal and try not to get caught instead of an outlaw who in any non-vestige case would be permakilled sooner or later. And in a realisitc handling of a vestige case, beaten unconscious and then buried alive magically sealed agaist teleport or other forms of mystic escape.
    In that spirit...
I would like to see mediaval-style "punishment" coming to ESO. In giving people a third choice between "pay your fine" and "try to not get killed while attempting escape".
For lower bounties, time in stocks would be applicable, in which the bounty might decay a lot quicker (plus extra bounty off for every piece of rotten fruit you get hit with - give other players a "throw rotten fruit" emote to help those in stocks get rid of their bounty sooner?)
For higher bounties, there might be "corporal punishment" - time spent tied to a whipping post and getting whipped for a lingering debuff: bounty decays quickly with every blow of the cat-o-nine-tails, but you'll keep the debuff for quite a while afterwards as you ponder if the pain was worth the crime...
And for career criminals... there could be prison. I am thinking of a "prison Isle" public dungeon, where people would be incarcarated without access to their weapons, armor, inventory or abilities, where bounty would not decay on its own, but could be "worked off" with boring, mindlessly repetetive minigames... (much like grinding, in a way), where there would be "prison clichee" encounters where speechcraft skills might come in handy ("persuade" the angry brawler in the mess hall that you aren't really worth beating up and save yourself a few bruises, "intimidate" the big guy in the showers to pick up his own soap and save your virtue, etc), and where there might be a hidden "jailbreak" quest that could allow people to leave well before their time was done.
Bonus points for achievement-unlockable prison-themed titles and "prison tatoos" (once character recustomization becomes avalable). Also, would be nifty if some contacts could only be made in prison, and then carry over into Tamriels criminal underworld - speak to that guy on the prison isle, and it'll unlock access to a special vendor in outlaw refugees ("Yah, talk wif mah cousin vinnie in daggafoll, dey haff shtuff dat fell offa waggon, capiche?" sort of thing ;) )

So many crime story clichees they could add to ESO... I'd love it if some of thise got made!

Guards... I had always been vexed by their immortal status, but I could understand it, seeing how otherwise some 'people' would try to wipe out whole villages just to see if they could. I still would have preferred if the guards has the same nominal streagth as the PvP-guards in cyrodil, but instead a special "smite that criminal scum" insta-win spell they'd fire off at 50% HP. Oh, well.

Limited bounty ranges... are iffy. For one, its quite obvious the guard doesn't rely on snitches, but has some direct line to Stendarr to know who is guilty and who is not. How else would they know of the muder you comitted in an abandoned hovel where you just took two blows to slay your victim instead of one from stealth? Thus their "justice sense" would make all guards take notice of your villainous ways, no matter what, no matter where.
Also, realistically... an EP citizen going to Daggerfall would be executed as spy on the spot without meridia fogging the ID waters as she does for cadwells. Just sayin. ;)

Killing witnesses... is good for mob bosses, not so much in an medievan world where the guard obviously works with testimony from the spirits of the dead. See above on how they learn of murders where only the victim was a witness, catching a glimpse of their murderer before being killed.

I can confirm that the bounty drops considerably when playing an alt.

It usually takes between 10-20 mins for a small bounty to vanish when playing on that character.

Where as it takes like a good 5-10mins of just doing something on an alt real quick ( like stealing ) and then hopping back.

Now with a bounty as high as has been mentioned above it might take a considerable time. BUT it will go down a lot quicker when playing on an alt.
