Magicka DKs would like to have a word with you.

Stack your shields at all times, these are your main heals. Make sure Inner light is on while on the DPS bar.
Open with Structured Entropy > Vampires Bane to dot up your target. Then Solar Barrage as your main spam. Execute with Radiant Opression. Repeat if enemy is not dead when your Vampires Bane dot ends.
empower doesn't work on DoT abilities

I have no problem. Haven't got the max dos I can yet due to equipment etc but I can easily hit a 10k plus dark flare before the buffs kick in. I've even been hit by a 13k solar disturbance and 7k jabs proving the passive for another 5 k give or take. Yeah dps is a bit of a problem for Templars due to sacrificing some sustain and damage mitigation but we can heal and we are not sorcs. As soon as you try to be a sorc you loose what a Templar is really about, accept that we Arnt sorcs and you will appreciate the damage we can do with the right set up and rotation. Templars are a balancing act suited to support not frontline dps oh and don't forget the DW swords and law of julianos set . Also CP makes a huge difference to Templars damage and heal capabilities.
It's all about learning and experimenting finding what works best for you. I have tried some of the op Templars builds in the past but they didn't work for me because of my play style.
let's look at the facts:
Dark flare is now trash after damage Nerf
Puncturing sweeps is trash unless you're a cookie cutter
Jesus beam nerfed to Antichrist beam
BoL is literally the last breath of life you'll take
No escapability
No defensive abilities(except eclipse, oh wait that got nerfed too)
Our passives are TRASH
Oh but don't worry, we still have empowering sweep :-)
Useless abilities like backlash
Sun shield doesn't even need an explanation
Literally only play this class if you want to roll stamina or a healer but don't dare try a 1v2 as stamina.
Let me just jump in here really quick to give you some help and make your Templar shine. I am going to give you a quick rundown of my build.
I can 1vX all day. 1v1, 1v2 and 1v3 I shihne bright like a diamond. Run this build and you will thank me later.
Attributes
Health: 19
Stamina: 0
Magicka: 45
Optimal Gear:
Torugs Pact Sword x2
4 Heavy, 3 Light (My build) 5 Heavy, 2 Light can also work.
+Magicka and + Spell Damage on everything. 4 piece Elf bane is the preferred set.
Bar 1: Dual Wield
[Vampires Bane] - [Solar Barrage] - [Structured Entropy] - [Radiant Oppression] - [Inner Light] || [ULT: Meteor]
Bar 2: Resto Staff
[Restoring Focus] - [Breath of Life] - [Purifying Ritual] - [Radiant Ward] - [Healing Ward] [ULT: Devouring Swarm]
DPS Rotation:
Stack your shields at all times, these are your main heals. Make sure Inner light is on while on the DPS bar.
Open with Structured Entropy > Vampires Bane to dot up your target. Then Solar Barrage as your main spam. Execute with Radiant Opression. Repeat if enemy is not dead when your Vampires Bane dot ends.
Uh Oh Rotation (Heals):
Again stack your shields at all times. This should keep you up long enough to kill your enemy before you die. If you get too low of health for comfort follow the rotation:
Restoring Focus > BoL > BoL. Two and you should be fully healed. Now shield stack and get back to fighting. You should only use your Uh Oh rotation in a 1v2 or 1v3+ situation. As for 1v1 if you have the correct gear equipped and Champion point distribution (which I will not get into, there are many threads on magicka build allocations) you should be able to kill your opponent with no 2nd bar. I rarely use this bar in a 1v1.
DISCALIMER:
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO THIS BUILD.....READ THIS VERY VERY CAREFULLY..PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AT LEAST 12 HOURS TO PLAY AT THE TIME OF CONTACT, DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIGHT MAGICKA SORC. YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF DIZZY FROM THE CONSTANT CIRCLES YOU WILL BOTH BE RUNNING AND THEN LEAVE YOURSELF WITH A MAJOR HEADACHE AS BOTH OF YOU RUN OFF TO FIND A DIFFERENT FIGHT THAT WILL ACTUALLY HAVE AN END.
You haven't seen spammable 10k Blazing Shield critical damage in PvP.

I have a v14 Templar healer.. I do pvp and survive 9 times out of 10 vs a zerg weather that means my 8 group guild team beats the zerg while I throw out dps and pick off stragglers to kill or they all start to die and I escape with my life after fighting off the 1-3 that come at me after the main fight is over so I can revive the team. Templars are great but hard to use and get the hang of. I stopped questing and grinding on him after it went from v14-v16(didn't care to hit vet16) but had him as a main since game came out on console(maybe a week or 2 after). that being said if you do not have the right skills on your bars you will not have a good time. gear, food, and weapon determine how well you play. resource management is key to a Templar in pvp and its not all spam heals because you will die you need to knock back throw a spear and stun root(ice detstro staff) things like that. Use the environment if you see a tree go behind it and throw on a hot heal. or a large boulder ect. It is doable if you try hard enough
As far as dps it isn't great(not meant to be a heavy dps class like a nb they are more focused on heals) the class is bad dps if you only spam the same skill over and over and expect it to win, but you can beat people if you use the right skills I normally win if it is 1v1 or 2vme depending on the other player skill level.
and I only have 90 cp ^.^ so its not that either I just like working on crafting and making alts(altoholic)
