Altmer Stamina Sorc. Viable or wasting my time?

My Sorc is an Altmer Stamina build at this time. I fair pretty well although in still working out my build.

Am I wasting my time building and spending on my stamina build since I'm not one of the min/max races?

Will I notice a huge difference in my performance i.e. Damage output and survivability?

Well if you are not vr1 or higher and you are certain you need to be Stamina, reroll into Orc, they are easily the best stamina race for sorcs. Otherwise go Imperial for raw stats.

You won't notice too much of a difference as a high elf as far as raw damage is concerned (and by this I mean the kind that stems from Weapon Damage and Stamina). You will be behind most races as other races either have +stamina or +health or both. However it won't be a gamebreaker. You can make it work or just wait for whenever ZOS decides to put race changes into the game though you willl be paying cash or crowns for it likely.

Personally, if I knew I was going to be a Stam Sorc, I would remake into a race better suited. Unless you are already high level and have certain achievements, research, and motifs. Orc is easily the best with their bonus to melee damage and natural speed/sprint reduction. Stamina Sorc is meant to be mobile and nothing does it better than Orc. Again though, you can make any race work. It's just that all your racials are pretty much wasted as an Altmer.

You actually burn through quite a lot of magicka as a stam sorc with streak, boundless (that's right, thundering sucks) and crit surge. That extra magicka and regen will definitely be beneficial to you. Sure the damage won't necessarily be as high as an Imperial, Orc or Redguard, but magicka still helps, a lot.
Try it out until race changes arrive. If you don't like it, you can always change.

I rarely "burn through" magicka. Trust me when I say these racials are pretty much wasted. 10% extra magicka regen on an already extremely low number is nothing. The extra 10% Magicka really doesn't amount to much either. I am a Dunmer and I can't wait for race changes. As a Dunmer I get 9% extra magicka and it's moot. On my Orc Sorc which I have on another faction I basically have the same pool. I have mained a Stamina Sorc for over a year, Altmer racials are pretty crappy for a Stamina Sorc. To be honest, they are the worst racials in the game currently for a Stam sorc. Even Breton gives you magic resist at least.

I know I said you can make anything work, but if you don't have anything to lose by rerolling, you should probably do so. Unless of course you have tons of unlocks (trait research, motifs, emperor, etc) and vet levels. Otherwise just wait it out.
