There is a location in Reaper's March that offers lizard racing. It's not against other players but it's something.

Betting on Player and group duels,,,, I've asked for this since pre-day one. PvP and PvE working together, you either fight or spectate and spectators have the option to place bets.

ZOS could be the bookie setting odds by win/loss records,,,,, talking about a gold sink and getting folks addicted to a game.

Tera did this exact thing except each team would put up a matching amount of gold instead of spectators. It's still technically gambling but impossible to rig....if you want to rig it and give the gold to the other team......./trade.

So long as the bets are between players and not between a player and a bookie, it is fine. Once you introduce a bookie for bets on things that players do, players will rig it for more payouts. Not a good idea.

Each group could agree on the amount of the duel. After the amount is agreed upon a pop up could come on each players screen asking to deposit a certain amount of gold to fairly distribute the bet between players.

Winning team would receive double their bet to their own bag. Sounds good to me

I would love to see more "gambling" in the game. Except a little better than frog races, especially since that race was all about how much to feed a frog.

They already have so much set up all over for gambling, including that one place in Northern Valenwood that has dialogue to actually bet on things. Seems like something they planned but never finished.

Yep. Even last night I met an NPC who was wasting his money in a "Gambling Hall".

I have a guild that features horse races, and a lot of people bet big chunks of gold. There are some sick ridera though.

There is one of those in Alik'r as well.
Makes me wish there -were- PvP-racetracks where people could race their pets against each others... with different pets having different stats...oh, well.

Let me explain, I'm talking about the game itself being a bookie (Not a player) and if odds are not met then the gold is gone from the game, no one gets to keep it.

Of course they should also have an option to handle win loss bets too for a fee, with the fee going to the game. If you bet 100 (even bet) and you win you get 190 (the fee coming out of the winnings) with the other 10 just going back to the game like an income tax.

Edit: as to the rigging, does it stop folks from betting in real life? No but there are punishments if you get caught.

Edit 2: For someone to make a lot of gold they would have to win a lot then throw a fight, they can't just go in and throw a fight every time, they would be on the loosing side of the odds as they can't control the other person. If someone wants to throw a fight rather than be on the leader board, then that is something you just have to deal with.
