Need a bit of help with my Nightblade healer for me an my partner

Fragkat

I have spent days reading everything I can find on NB healers/Bloodmages. But everything talks about gear sets an endgame skillsets. Myself an my partner play together an I was hoping to heal for her as I used to be a main healer in FFXI. DO I only take restoration skills an thats it?....

Well, I recomend leveling up everything you can. Even if you will never use it.

The spells you will want from nightblade are; strife morphed to funnel health, path of darkness morphed to refreshing path, drain power morphed to sap essence, and either morph of the shadow and siphoning ultimates.

And, yes, level restoration staff. Its spells can be situational, but get the shield.

This one has an eloquent and well thought out response to tha... Ooh sweetroll!

You can also use support abilities, and the slow from lotus fan and the fear spell can be great.

Here's what I ran on my NB before IC. Can be used even as a V1

    Attributes: 64 Magicka
Mundus Stone: Atronach -> more Magicka Regen is better
    Champion Points:
    Warrior
    - Lady: 100 in Hardy
    - Lord: rest in Quick Recovery

    Thief
    - Lover: 100 in Arcanist
    - Tower: rest in Magician

    Mage
    - Ritual: 100 in Thaumaturge
    - Apprentice: rest in Blessed

However, remember when receiving CP for the Mage, put the first 30 in Apprentice for that 12% Spell Crit passives, then move to the Ritual and when you have 100 points in there move back to Apprentice. That 12% Spell Crit is very important, even as a healer.

    Gear:
There's lots of great gear options, but start out with 5 pcs Magnus for that Spell Cost proc and 4 pcs Seducer for regen. Or if you can craft it/find someone to craft it, Kagrenac's Hope is a great set as well. Grab 5 pcs of that then and mix it with Seducer.

    Skills:

    Bar 1: Dual Wield

    - Inner Light
    - Funnel Health
    - Sap Essence/Structured Entropy
    - Refreshing Path
    - Siphoning Attacks

Ulti: Soul Tether/Devouring Swarm if you're a Vamp

Start out with Refreshing Path followed by a Sap Essence/Structured Entropy for the 20% extra Spell Damage. Siphoning to help your resources and Funnel Health is your main DPS move which is cheap in cost and heals 2 allies as well (which also generates more Ultimate).

    Bar 2: Restoration Staff

    - Inner Light
    - Healing Springs
    - Rapid Regeneration
    - Combat Prayer
    - Healing Ward

    Ulti: Veil of Blades

Pretty straightforward here: start with Rapid Regen and Combat prayer for buffs, heal with Springs and pop a shield when an ally is low on HP. Veil of Blades is needed to assist the tank when fighting a boss: pretty sure he'll appreciate not having to take all the damage from bosses

You need Healing ward from restro staff. The bulk of your heals will come from Funnel health. If you are pve healing you'll want healing springs from the restro staff too. The siphon tree ult is great for burst heals. Consuming shadows is great for mitigation in oh #### situations.

PvP as healing focused NB I recommend heavy use of cloak. This means you'll need a lot of regen. Use champion points for + heals too. You can check my sig for a pvp build with really strong self heals. If you swap swallow soul for funnel health you can turn the build into a really nice dps/support build for you and a couple partners.

    Whoops :s

Anyways, the 2 weapons you need are Restoration staff and Dual Wields Swords (only swords). For you Resto staff, you're gonna need all the skills and passives, then morph the skills into the ones I mentioned in my previous post. For Dual Wield, the only thing you need is the last passive "Twin Blade and Blunt", nothing else. Just that last one.

Gear-wise, wear 5 pieces of Light Armor, 1piece of Medium and 1 piece of Heavy. Light Armor works best for Healers since it gives great bonuses for Magicka, the other 2 pieces are for levelling Medium and Heavy Armor.

    Class Skills you need:

    - Most come from Siphoning: Strife will be your main attack, along with Drain Power. Also grab Siphoning Strikes
    - Shadow also has a few good skills you might need: Path of Darkness and the Ultimate Consuming Darkness
    - Everything else should come from your Restoration Staff: Grand Healing will be your main heal, Ward to quickly heal and protect an ally that's about to die, and the other skills for extra utility.

Hope this'll help you a bit better :p

Also forgot to mention: when you level up, put all points in Magicka (character screen, press C ingame)

Generally speaking your NB skills will heal you, & Resto Staff skills will heal your ladyfriend.
at level 15 you will get a "weapon swap" so play around & see what you like.

its important to watch if skills use Magika or Stamina, & are you going to focus one or the other or both.
Hybrid characters can be a lot of fun in most situations, but in Dungeon runs & PvP they are a tactical challenge.

    Enjoy!

As a NB, your siphoning skills do most of your healing. So basically you do damage and healing at the same time. This is the really cool thing about NB healers.
But as others have stated, put a skill from every of your class skill treess on your bar to level those skill lines up.

As healer you want to be a magicka build, so don't choose stamina morphs of class abilites, but stick to the magicka ones. Also put your attribute points in magicka. If you can get someone to craft you some gear, that will be a good thing as well. Try to go 5 pieces light armor, 1 medium, 1 heavy. Choose sets, that help magicka builds.

For the weapon things: a resto staff is a good choice. You can also do damage with your weapon attacks (left mouse button) and your class skills. The skills from the resto staff skill line focus on healing. All skills are good and you may level all of them, but especially in your setup (2 people) grand healing and regeneration are good skills to start with. Later you will get access to steadfast ward, which is really great too.
For a secondary weapon, destruction staff or dual wield are common choices. Dual wield is only chosen for the passives though, you won't need the skills from that line. Therefore it is usually more fun, to level your destruction staff first, because it has magicka skills, which you can use :)

If you have more questions or I didn't make something clear enough, feel free to ask

The rest of these are good but I like using energy orb (morph of necrotic orb) for healing plus team up with a mage DPS and they will love you for it. Just... be warned it bugs out in narrow corridors.

yer I jsut got the first one morphed for healing. Healing seems quite good so far, an every easy.

my only problem with this build is against bosses, when they hit hard with a charged attack of 10k+ damage.

I was thinking about reviving barrier, how do you do in these situations?
