In PvP, you should be focusing the healers in all fights

the countless amount of times where I see my pvp group get wiped because they are all focused on the enemy group's tank. meanwhile their damage dealers and healers are safe in the back lines pumping out damage and heals.

and then they someone will say "dude wtf?! they're so op!" "nerf"

uh... you guys don't know how to focus targets. it's like playing a moba, you never focus the tanks, ever. L0L

It annoys me when the zerg will try and kill the ogrim boss in arena only for him to start healing and the idiot melee wb/surprise sheep don't bash and instead just continue that 1 buttom spam... ffs.

As i sorc i need to streak next to the boss and bash him half the time. Despite there being 15+ melee people on the boss.

I suppose this is what happens when you have skills that are so OP bad players think there the answer to everything/

No, it's a problem throughout every pvp pug I come with, or if I'm solo just run alongside with them. They have no focus whatsoever, thinking they can win every zerg battle by killing the nearest enemy and then the farthest afterwards. I've only encountered one enemy group that was actually coordinated and couldn't be defeated (only be defeated by giant zergs obviously). Their team composition was: 1 Tank, pusher, leader, cc'er, 1 Healer (always protected by the DDs), and the rest DDs. Lo and behold every single time people fought them, guess who they focused? The tank.

I Agree. It's pretty easy to wipe a pug group with just a couple ult's (usually no healer's).

I personally run solo most of the time because it's just easier on performance (you can avoid the ball group's). In my opinion it's very annoying to have a group of 24 people.. who all have microphone's want to participate in the conversion's and have "leader's" screaming "clear comm's".

AoE cap's need's to go. I cannot wait until group's thin out and spread out. Better performance, much more pleasant group chat's etc.

This game is in a bad spot at the moment. You got people trying to duel with *** balance and people trying to Zerg which create's *** performance.

I'm hoping Zos have something big for us next dlc. So much work need's to be done to the current road we walk on.

Also, @Kammakazi why you making pointless thread's? Bring us the issue's. This topic isn't an issue.

You will find, however, that a good PvP healer is essentially a tank. Good luck killing them any easier than the tank that was being healed.

PROTIP - Most groups run 2-3, so have fun with that.

Organized groups are pretty good at focusing healers tho. Why you cant run with just 1 healer in PvP if you're fighting decent enemies, he or she will get destroyed almost instantly due to lack of defensive cooldowns. You need cross heals.

But I think the problem with pugs is way bigger than just mashing the wrong targets. It's the fact that they lack heals themselves and no one's looking out for each other. Healers need:

    1. Cross heals when focused
    2. Constant Rapid Maneuver so they wont get left behind and can kite and LoS
    3. Peels if they have NB's and Wrecking Blow spammers on them

Pugs and less accomplished guild groups never seems to do any of those things, no one's looking out for the healer. They're playing more like 24 guys soloing in the same area. So you're better of just playing the same way they do, instead of trying to heal.

Honorable mention: heal debuffs. They actually work if the target is out of range of purge.

Or my personal favorite, chase the one player running away from the keep to the middle of nowhere while we're getting ready to seige a keep, or have seiged down the walls and are trying to take the keep...ugh..

I tend to always go for the healers but I'm usually the only one.....and the Healer calls help and a legion of Sorcs and Nightblades stun lock me to death as the Healer does his ultimate to heal his entire zerg.

In terms of small group situations: a lot of times it is actually easier to burst down some squishy DPS... as @Rylana pointed out, many healers are just too tanky, and by focusing on them, the NBs and Sorcs can rip you apart.

In PVP the general rule in small group stuff is to go after whoever's health bar you can move the fastest. If that health bar isn't moving, find someone's that is. A few people ganging up on a "soft" target can often take a heavy-hitting DPS out of the fight a helluva lot quicker than a tanky templar.

Another approach is to identify the glass cannons, typically sorcs / NBs, and make them go mobile. A little bit of focus on a glass cannon will often force them to bolt or cloak away, at which point you can try to quickly focus a healer down.

It's not the fact it heals them it's the OP smart heal programming e.g. don't need to target someone, always lowest hp, heals large amount, can heal through walls.

I hate nerfs, so buff defile so that we even have a chance of killing BoL spammers. A group with 2-3 one hand and shield block casting templars is functionally immortal.

I suspect the reason people don't target healers is caused because:
    1) Due to costumes and manic fighting its not always easy to see them
    2) A lot of people stay back from the main engagement waiting either for the front line to push forward or someone to jump into the middle of it. These people are all waiting for that one DK or NB to try and kill the healers and then they drag him down.

In DAoC, a group of 8 healers weren't going to kill you... strip you of all your buffs maybe, but not kill you... in ESO a group of 8 healers would actually be quite dangerous... heck any magicka character is a very viable healer, not just the templars.

It's one of the things in ESO that are somewhat "problematic".. magicka / spell power doubles as healing stat and as damage stat... aim for high offense and automatically boost your defense too.

IMHO the game could use some more stats on your character and on gear.. so you actually had to make some choices and that those choices would have a consequence.. now just go for +spell / + magicka or +stamina / + weapon power... forget about resists (physical, magical, fire, cold, lightning, poison, .. they're all in there, but either totally useless to template for or totally absent from gear sets)

Not against every build: well played "Wannabe-Masters of ESO" DKs, Templars and Sorcerers can easily cope with a double-heal debuff (~45%less healing) by a combination of expensive Nirn. etc. equip, defensive CP-spec, strong health/sta-regeneration, etc.. This (many times heavy armor) builds are often seen in PvP (Europe/Azura) and a double heal-debuff (skill + disease weapon proc) will not suffice, as it was before the nurf and I'm talking about 1vsX with a double heal-debuff vs. the tanky build, even if all players use the right skills vs. a 30k+ armor tank-build.

Targeting the healer first is like standard MMO PvP 101. If you aren't doing that you probably haven't played an MMO or PvPed in one either....After playing Lineage 2 for like 6 years, usually being the main assist in my groups and being the guy that calls out targets, I realize there should be a better way in ESO to pick certain targets out of a crowd rather then just AoEing the whole crowd at once. That takes some of the skill out of group play when all you have to do is AoE and not think about who you are hitting.

I really wish there was a better way to target people and single them out other then the crappy tab target we have. Back in the day, before everybody and their mom unlocked purge, I used backlash or focused aim as a beacon to call out targets to be focused. It can still work, but not too often.

Clearly you've not played any MMO's aside from ESO and DAoC....because in every other mmo with PvP and healers, the guy with the heals/resurrect/support is ALWAYS the primary target...if you aren't in a bad guild/group. Doesn't make sense to target anybody else first because chances are they won't die with them being constantly healed and buffed.

Yea it is a problem in every PVP game, its always amusing to watch a group die all attacking the tank and not the guy in the back healing the tank and dotting them.

We normally Focus fire the Healers, and overextending Squishy DPS, then ranged DPS, and finish off the Tanks last.
