Any plans to reduce fog ingame?

Things have always seemed a little off when it came to Tamriel in ESO vs the single player games. I noticed while playing Oblivion when first stepping out of the sewers to start my quests, the range of view.

I then jumped on ESO and ran to the southern part of the White-gold tower near one of the sewer entrances. The fog was Extremely thick with very little visibility. My view distance and all visuals were cranked up to max.

I really hope in the future, Zenimax can add the ability to adjust the amount of fog that is visible and redo the low resolution textures being covered by the fog as well (Mountains, water, White tower). This really seems to kill the adventure part for myself. I want to be able to look a good deal out in the distance and know i can go there instead of guessing through all the fog.

This is all i can think of when playing. :)

Balmorra is on an ash flat and next to the Red mountain...hence the ash/dust storms.

This has been the topic of several threads over the last year and a half... Some of them were mine, by the way ^^

There used to be a... modified game client that removed the fog... But went into oblivion (no pun intended) due to... legal ponderings.

It revealed a lot. It revealed that most of the terrain features aren't even drawn after a certain distance and it also made the world feel absurdly smaller since you could see like every settlement in a region from the other. The fog is a way to, let's say, 'mask' the limited scale of online games (in comparison to single-player ones). There were also some places where fog is incredibly well used to add a 'tone' of mystery to places... I can think of some Stonefalls areas, for example, which are amazing with the fog covering parts of the mountain and lame/bland without the fog.

That said, some places were spectacular without the fog. Cyrodiil, in all its greatness - or the vast dunes of the Alik'r desert. It was a real sea of sand, so cool to look at. Not to mention your comparison, of course, which shows a completely different (and amazing) Cyrodiil you don't get to see in ESO.

So the fog has benefits but having no fog also has some amazing benefits.
Seaside regions look kinda ugly when you look at the sea and can't clearly see an horizon line because the 'fog' just mixes with the water... It would also be awesome to be able to see some objects that are really far away (like ships/boats on the shore) - why can't I see them on a sunny day?

So, I don't want to see fog removed entirely but rather a fine 'tinkering' with it. I wish devs could work that out, keep the fog as it is on some areas, remove it on others, etc... Control it so they can get the best experience out of each area/region. Seaside regions are DESPERATELY begging for some kind of water movement/wave effect (they look like ugly, stale lakes, completely ruining any immersion) and no fog while some regions, like Shadowfen, could be funnier with a thickier fog. Anyway, just my opinion :)

I feel you. Until they come out with a slider I would recommend Sorien's Launcher to remove and enable the fog at will:

Also, if you want to enhance your game feel and look, I've made a shader/preset for ESO using Reshade. It will reduce fog effects, give you Depth of Field, and gives a less purple and more vibrant color map:

    Hope this helps :)
