A Poetry and Songs skill line providing Group buffs.

Like Alchemy potions regarding duration. Like Provisioning regarding Recipes.

Gathering Music Instruments, pages of Lyrics and Song books, growing in their skill and able to encourage the combat spirit of their group with Battle Songs on their Quick slot.

Going from tavern to tavern to get leads where to search in old ruins, steal from wealthy citizens and museums, get them for a pint of beer or a riddle quest.

One character that does not fill up his Quick slot with a potion exclusively for him, but with a battle Song for his Group.

some day ever ?

"I still do not understand why I followed the advice of Captain Rana to bring the villagers of Bleakrock into safety. We should have fought for our village and not have backed down, with our tail between our legs. Now my home village is in shambles, the houses burning, the invaders feasting.I swear every day to Shor that after Molag Bal has been defeated, I will hunt down the invaders and restore peace in Bleakrock and drink my mead with my friends at the market place".PC-EU

CU is haveing Bards, Skalds, and Minstrel same as they had in DAOC. I was surprised when this game didn`t have any, and all three factions had the same 4 classes, same ablities, etc. Since the lead Dev worked on DAOC too. oh well.

Oh, I definitely would love seeing a proper "Bardic Guild" skill line.

With musical instrument "weapons" that can be used to "cast" a "musical spell", aka AoE buff/debuff. The music would be one song per effect, but different depending on instrument used - lute, fiddle, harp, flute, drums, trumpet, and aye lassies and laddies, bagpipes too!
These song-spells would be cast continuously, aka toggleable, for no or a low stamina and magica cost, since they are already balanced by having to hold a instrument in your hands instead of some proper weapon, and would affect a wide "earshot" range while having different effects... I would live to see "offensive buff", and "defensive buff" and "resource regeneration buff" and "enemy debuff" and "experience gain buff" (especially the last, wouldn't it be great to see all the grinding groups have a bard tagging alomng playing a merry tune while they brutally slaughter every mob in sight?). And perhaps even an ultimate "Put to Sleep Song" that paralyzes all enemies in range for a short while?

And then there could be daily bardic missions to earn guild advancement. Like... playing in five different inns, one on each of the five different "homeland" maps... or also on some select street corners, especially street corners in places where a festival is going on (Windhelm, Skywatrch...) or for some noble lord in their castle... stuff like that.

I can understand why, though. Mark Jacobs (CU) was the lead designer on DAOC, whereas Matt Firor was primarily a producer. A designer's job is to come up with ideas and figure out how to implement them. A producer's job is mainly carrying out the work or overseeing those who are carrying out the work, keeping them on task, managing deadlines, etc.
Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.
