You can grind 6-10k Telvar Stone in about 2 hour, easily. First thing to find a player to craft set for you, upgrade them to legendary, then start to work on your Monster Sets and Master Weapons. Also IC rings and necklaces are good thing.

Grind Imperial Sewers and use Tel Var Stones to buy material. (10,000 stones = 200 Rubedo)

Go to Wrothgar and collect all the material from nodes.

    Put skill points into Hirelings.

    Do the Writs everyday.

    Break down everything.

Yep. It's a shocker when you are used to a higher level crafted item being maybe one or two units more than the previous... not 10x !! Prepare for a whole bunch of people to chime in & tell you that it's easy to farm the required ~1200 units of mats! There is no sympathy from the folk that have already done the grind.

I had a whinge about it a few months back too. In the end I just grit my teeth & did the grind.. mostly in Wrothgar. It took me about 8 gaming sessions to accumulate enough rubedite for my armour & sword. A good friend lent me enough ruby ash for my shield & I bought all the runes to make gold glyph using telvar stones. I was SOOOOOO anxious while making the armour... what if I didn't like the look of it!?! It would take ages to get enough mats to re-do it. As luck would have it I used the Xivkyn style & could not be happier! I still have 4 pieces to improve to gold because I ran out of tempering alloys. That give me something to continue farming for :)

If you have a spear million lying around you can buy the mats needed etc

I spent 600k buying the mats alone, its a long journey ahead to get full legendary VR16 gear

Seems like a way to force people to buy DLC. How would you get VR16 gear without it. I can tell you now after the VR grind I'm not grinding just to be able to craft after its been simple for so long

    Grind baby, grind!

Or settle for non-crafted VR16 gear, which is dirt cheap on Guild Traders, unless it's Wrothgar drops since they made all that BoP.. so grind... grind mobs, grind IC, grind quests, grind world bosses, grind!

Work towards it. It doesn't take that much effort. If you are lazy, just use VR15 or even VR14 gear, it won't make or break your build.

This, a days grinding sewers should get you 20k stones. So two days of grinding and you've got vr16 gear.

    It's not that bad.

A combination of gold, farming wrothgar, sewers, breaking down drops from pledges and hirelings got me 4 vr16 sets in about 2 weeks.

    It all soon adds up.

You can buy some cheap gear from guild traders. I mean the gear which ppl loot as PvP campaign rewards. Of course it won't be the best sets, but it's still better than being naked.

I had two full sets of vr15 gear before I ever bought the DLC. Cyrodil delves will drop a few pieces to decon and nodes in Cyrodil are the same as they they are in Wrothgar- sometimes rv14, sometime vr16. Cyrodil delves are great for CP too. but you deffinately do not NEED the DLC to get vr16 gear....although it would make it quicker

So true. Or deconstruct 200 items of that material type in PvE ! Take your pick.

Honestly, I just outfitted two V16 yesterday. My main who was v16 shortly after IC came out and my templar who hit v16 on Saturday.

Because of a guild activity we organized (charity gear auction), I had been keeping mats because we didn't know what kind we would need.

I would say just play the game and think about what you want for your gear. If you want a monster set, go run the dungeons/pledges, you will get mats that way. (also the decon stuff out of the undaunted chests)

Then trade any ancestor silk you gather for rubedo leather. Yes, it will take a bit of time, but if you just keep playing the game in your current gear (which hopefully didn't disintegrate when you hit v16) and not focus so much on what mats you still need, you will be there before you know it.

If your on PC, the prices of those materials have dropped a ton. So you could easily outfit yourself with new gear for 100K. Those wouldn't be legendary but you could get all purples for that pretty much. Or you can run the Wrothgar Dailies and combine the new armor sets you get from there with a crafted set. Although, the V16 drops on those isn't very good so you could have that in V15's.

I just outfitted my 5 V16 chars with purple V15 gear at first and now I'm slowly upgrading them to gold V16 gear one at a time. It's a little time consuming but doable without a large gold outlay if you're willing to work IC or Wrothgar some.

I have three V16. Most of them have yet to go all V16 on gear... mix of blue V15 and some V16 pieces. One still has only V14 weapons (just can't bear letting go of the viper set... wish it came in V16!)
But ev, in time and through wrothgar dailies...

Also, if you have the gold, a lot of the better guild vendors sell stuff you can use to start you up on the gear side.

First thing is decide what gear you want....

Not all of it is crafted!

It may be that there's a monster set you want? Or a wrothgar set? Or a VWGT/vWGP set

    Or more likely a combination.

Mats are pretty cheap in IC, add that on top of all the gear you deconstruct when looting and it will add up pretty quickly. Just make sure you craft the right set when you finally get the mats together. The main positive to being max level is you never have to worry about upgrading your gear again, so I guess it makes sense it takes time to create.
    Good luck to you, Sir.

Don't want to grind the sewers?

Run 2 dungeons 2 times a day for a week. Decon everything you find and trade for what you need. Buy the rest and you'll have your gear very quickly.
