5v8 is unwinnable because 3 of the 8 have 75% damage reduction =/ this killed it for me hope you understand lol
I'm being hyperbolic of course with the 'unwinnable' bit but you get where I'm coming from.

Even 10% damage reduction is a gamechanger.

- One of the odd few left who bother to complain.
- For me it took too long for ZOS to address this which is why I don't think players will come back.

If your group is bigger than 6 members gain 75% damage reduction.

Write this on the back of your box and see how many sales you get!

You won't get any new PvP players until this archaic AoE crap is fixed.
I for one won't resub until:
1.) You fix lag.
2.) You remove AOE caps we voted against.
3.) 12 months have passed (this is how long we've waited for you to 'get with it')[/b]

    You know, you don't have to spam AoEs if you encounter a group with a group of your own. Taking them on 1 or a few at a time is just as well if your group has your back. Of course, the enemy will cover each other as well so it goes both ways but still...

    Can someone help me understand exactly what AOE caps are and what the controversy is behind them?

    Its pretty simple. AOE caps help players who bunch together stay alive regardless of player skill. They encourage zergy gameplay as the benefits of grouping up are way too attractive. ZOS wants bads and casuals to be able to PvP without getting good so they gave them free 50% damage reduction in groups larger than 6 and gap closers that are guaranteed to connect even when they ruin the performance and fluidity of the gameplay for the person on the other end of the gap closer.

    The controversy comes in where ZOS started a whole thread about AOE caps and yet did not satisfactorily explain the REAL reason why the caps were in place. They just dodge this issue. I guess they just don't want to admit their Buffs for Bads (tm) program.

    AOE caps weren't always in the game.

    Here is a poll from April 2004 where the community overwhelmingly voted against adding AOE caps.

    Seeing such a strong and overwhelmingly clear response out of their community against adding the caps, ZOS did the only logical thing and added the caps anyway of course because people that spam liquid lighting on single targets and hard cast c-frags know more about the game is played than the people that actually play it.

    Here is a more detailed response to how most of the community feels towards ZOS and how they seem to be dodging this issue despite strong and very uniform sentiment on behalf of their customers.

    They are two very, very different things.

    aoe cap/falloff:

    you fire an aoe, e.g., impulse

    it hits 30 people all stacking on a single spot (like a flag):

    the first 6 take 100% damage
    the next 18 take 50% damage
    the next 6 take 25% damage.

    The system decides who is hit for what damage and effectively provides extra mitigation to everyone above the first 6. I haven't yet heard a sensible reason for implementing such a system. I can't see what value this mechanic adds to the game.

    Well,if you quit just because of that,then you werent really into playing the entire game.Only the PvP aspect.I'm sorry it's let you down,but there are many other games out there that will perhaps give you the experience you're looking for. A lot of great games to choose from.
