Stealing from Guild banks.

Are zos going to kick and ban people who are caught doing this?
  • bottlesofbecks
Mine has the same, but I am seeing this happen a few times, and if they do not help police and control it then they are going to encourage it.

Robbing from your guild. I am talking to you robbers out there is a Morally Bankrupt act. Despicable and feckless actions such as stealing from people who have come to consider you a friend shows a level of moral turpitude seen in real life criminals.

The guild I am a member of had a small case of this. Thank the divines that an officer caught it and dealt with it.

Zenimax you can do something about this if it is a repeat offender. If a person is going to steal from one guild what is to stop them from stealing from five at the same time"?

    Guild Master's
Save the @name of the offender let the other Guild Masters know. Have your proof in hand. Have a monthly guild summit and compare notes.Do not make it public and do not violate the name and shame policy.Develop a system to protect each others assets.

You are all on a treadmill. While you happily invested more and more points into damage and sustain. ZOS was busy nerfing Helping Hands passive from DK, Leeching strikes passive from nightblade, dark deal from sorc. Making class abilities more homogenized and less unique, all to pay for the power gained by the champion system.

Maybe Guilds could be allowed to put a daily limit on withdrawals?

I vaguely recall ZOS saying there are guild improvements coming with Thieves' Guild such as withdrawal limits, if not TG then next year some time?

It's a really needed QOL thing as current guild management tools are lacklustre at best.

You gave them access to the items, it cannot be theft. If you say 'sure, take what you want form my house' and then change your mind once they clear you out, you cant go to the cops...

Why would they do that? It's legitimate PVP.

I'm new to the game, but aren't you able to put restrictions on which things guild members can and can't access? If so, there's really no such thing as stealing from the guild bank because you've given them access.
  • JiraKolnoz
Guild bank theft is common among the gaming community sadly!

From a RP perspective though it could fit some roles and a twist if you think about it..

In case that this post is not a troll post:

my reply: I agree with the replies here, as the guild officer allowed the people to withdraw from the bank, then it is not at all a theft, but allowed thing. If you as an officer do not trust the people, do not allow them to withdraw. it is as easy as that. Or if they withdraw too much, write them a warning mail, explaining the rules (not all know them). If they do it next time after the warning, kick them or cancel the allowing of withdrawal for them.

Needless to say, there are a multitude of ways Guild Banks could be improved. That said, there are bigger issues to deal with first.

Zeni has given the tools for GMs and officers to restrict who has access to the guild bank. They should not step in when a guild fails to use those tools.

If I give a stranger the keys to my house and tell him to help himself to anything in there, neither the police nor my insurance company will have my back when I report him for stealing.

Just needs a setting to limit withdrawals to 5 or 10 items per day so it's functional but you can't be cleaned out

As an officer of a guild bank I make sure not many have access.
we have lots of cool items in the bank. if ZOS put withdrawal limits on the items they had better start stacking the items. Every Monday I have to pull the stuff out of the guild bank put it in my inventory stack it and put it back. I've been doing this for months now. I don't like doing it, it's a pain, but someone has too.
Putting on limits - without stacking items would suck. I am sure I am not the only officer doing this job in all of eso. By all means limit it, but fix the stacking before you do. Also due to theft we only have trusted people with access but if someone messages for potions, food, crafting mats we do use the bank to store items so have stuff we can send to people who need it.

    By the way.

Once upon a time there was an ESO Live where Gina mentioned they are working on a tabbed guild bank..

Yes, it sucks. My guild has been robbed a few times, fortunately we haven't for a long time.. but ZOS is working on a system to help us out. No idea when it will come, but one day!

Thankfully this hasn't happened to my Guild I was commenting on a post on a fb site where some Idiot joined then clea ned out the Guild, claimed he had done it to three other Guilds and this was just the start.
For some people this may be their first mmo and they still trust other player's.

Ah, Guild Banks ... Always desire of members to put items in, but either lock them out fully or call them thieves for taking items out. I'm guessing that the OP has told his members that they're not allowed to take out, or perhaps that they're limited to what can be taken out, or even that they're not allow to take anything out? So many times have I seen guild rules giving members a clear path to put in and take out what they desire only to bring wrath against them for taking out too much or that very special item.

If the Guild Member take out beyond what your rules allow than simply warn them and kick them out on the second offence. I do no support anyone being banned from the game for taking out bank items that they're not allowed. Such small and petty things to be upset about. In the end the pain and suffering is your own because you made it your own through anger.

However, you can't call someone a thief for removing items that they're allowed to because either the rules support it or they're no rules! Most of the time I see these issues come up it's always the fault of the Guild Leader for not setting up propper rules and settings.

Good day, OP, I hope all goes well for you in the future.

It's be nice to label someone as a thief if they empty X amount of items from a guild bank, just as a warning to other guilds. It would need to be tied to withdrawals and value of the items being removed from the guild bank, and only officers (or a specific role) of the guild could flag them. Granted, this opens the door to rotten guilds using the power to flag innocent people. But that's why I should be directly linked to some sort of quantity or value, with a time limit.

This is something that guilds need to control and be proactive about on their own. The tools are in place to avoid this happening from level limits, to actually having someone that is in charge of handing out things when needed.

Well there's an ESO fail right there. Banks should have categories or pages with individual permissions for each rank of guild member. Did they not look at other MMOs at all before making this?
