New bug with Meteor / Ice Coment / Shooting Star

This specific bug happens to me fairly often since the Osinium patch, but I've only ever noticed it while doing Maelstrom Arena.

The bug occurs when you cast Meteor on a moving enemy. The ground AoE of the Meteor will be in place of where the enemy was when Meteor was initially cast on them.

Here's a video of it: twitch.tv/fat_cat45/v/29339922?t=18m32s. You'll see that the Meteor is cast on the Lamia boss before she reaches my position, then the Meteor lands on top of her once she is right up against me. However the ground AoE is placed back in the water, her position when Meteor was initially cast.

This bug does not happen 100% of the time, and I have no idea what causes it. It is also not a visual error because I do not gain and damage from Meteor after the initial hit.

    Yep can confirm it, same thing happened to me in pvp a couple of times, the first hit properly land on the target, but the aoe will stay where the meteor was initially casted.

    I've actually had the AoE effect move around the map under the boss too. That only happened since the Orsinium patch and since I'm on Xbox I have no really way to verify for sure if that was just visual or the AoE was actually moving.

    This happens all the time in pvp, except the meteor will actually teleport the player back to the spot of casting and knock them up there. Almost always results in death.

    Ive also reported another bug with ice meteor in pvp, the aoe is placed before the meteor even hits.

    Unfortunately, the servers don't seem to account for wings in this scenario, at least in my experience.

    That is why everytime when I reflect the ice comet the AoE is duplicated. One below me and one below the caster.

    I haven't had it happen to my shooting star morph. have seen it on other peoples ice comet morph. don't know if lack of testing or is only specific to one morph?

    Seems strange to have a comet that changes trajectory.
    Even stranger to have 2x AoE rings running concurrently.
    No wonder the server suffers brainfarts.

    Surely this should be a ground based AoE or a player based AoE rather than both ?
    I understand the concept of brian wheelers skills made from lego blocks now.
    I find 1AoE + 1AoE = 1 AoE rather disturbing if they all work like this :/

    Add to it if your on an incline, stairs what ever and get knocked up in the air good chance you will get crazy fall damage numbers, so that needs to be fixed again. Not just exclusive to meteor.

    I've only ever noticed it with Ice Comet, though I don't regularly play content on my character which has Shooting Star. So it could be possible it is only related to Ice Comet

    Meteor will pull your opponents model back to the position they were standing in when it was cast upon them. This is why it's instant fall damage obtained in pvp. When you're on inclines, try and move, meteor pulls you back, fall damage is calculated based on time the air instead of changes in z axis, exploits abound. It's what's happening in your OP, meteor's dmg is calculated based on opponent position at the cast. If you could cause 60k+ fall damage on pve bosses this would be fixed in < 1 week.

    jip because the horizontal movement is used to determin the drop dmg aswell leading allmost allways to 25k+ fall dmg...

    aoe's move around as per the terrain. this has been for a long time and i wish it would get fixed. not sure if this is your issue (sry couldn't watch the video) it's definitely not intended, its just my observation wrt some aoe like ash cloud and grand healing they can be hard to place properly on hills and other rough terrain.

    Meteor has been broken since the game launched, not a couple months.

    When it is double-reflected it turns invisible.

    I don't think the AoE should be reflectable IMO.
