Experimenting around a bit, I do not have the right gear setup yet but atm I wear:
5x Winterborn
3x WIllpower
2x Torug
1x Maelstrom Frost/Resto

Final Setup will be:
5x Winterborn (once RNGesus blesses me with a Winterborn ring....)
5x Julianos
1x Frost/Resto

Cool, wouldnt it be cool if you got some kinda item that made all your elemental spells do cold dmg, or other elements.

Question how come ya don't use the ice comet morph instead? It'll set off winterborn fairly quick; if ya use nerieth monster set it usually goes off as well for some silly burst

I was going for the same x5 Julianos/x5 Winterborn/normal destruction and restoration staves too! Still need two rings though. They never seem to drop!

Oh, and if you really want to make the build as good as possible, the staves should probably both be Julianos, and have x1 Molag Kena instead. I hear that Maelstrom staves aren't up to par with nirnhoned crafted staves. I'm not going to do that though because I like the way my sorc looks with his DC style Willpower staff.

@Xsorus I only run normal maelstrom arena. As nice as the V16 gear is, the difference between blue V15 Winterborn jewelry and purple V16 Winterborn jewelry seems to be too small to bother with.

Blue V15 Winterborn set deals 5600 cold damage on proc. Purple V16 Winterborn set procs for 5810 cold damage(I think)

Sure it's better, but not worth the effort to me. As for the drop rates themselves.... don't even worry about the boots. You'll probably have them in every trait before you collect all of the jewelry :-(

I've been doing normal maelstrom myself because it's faster; and boots never drop for me lol.. And rings.. God I've gotten like 3 jewelry pieces out of probably the 100 set pieces I've gotten

Yep but ZOS decided to kick Frost/Shock in the nuts and go all the way with fire dmg

I have not tried, but I would guess so yes, pretty sure.

I think it works with all classes, tho Sorc would be the best because you have your fancy shields and you do not lack mobility.

lol I thought I have Ice Comet...going to remorph now hahaha. Yep I am testing Nerienth and its nice, because enemies get slowed/rooted it hits them quite often. This build is nowhere near final, just thought would share the stuff I got yet.

Ye I have made 50+ vMa runs and yet I had not a single Winterborn ring drop.....I got 2 from weeklies tho before they made it only possible to get Weapons... ><.

I consider 2 setups:

5x Julianos, 5x Winterborn, 1x Maelstrom
5x Julianos, 5c Winterborn, 1x Kena
5x Winterborn, 3x WIllpower, 2x Monster Set, 1x Maelstrom

Maybe nirnhoned is better, will test that too sooner or later

@Alcast I've never completed Vet Maelstrom so I dont know how strong the "ability-altering" enchantment is on the staves. I just cant see the situational nature of them beating a crafted nirnhoned staff w/ a V16 gold glyph (besides the sword, shield, and staves, Maelstrom weapons seem pretty great).

Hopefully ZoS will bump up the drop rate on the jewelry so that people can actually complete these sets! Maelstrom Arena is really cool and a lot of fun, but that wears off after so many runs. Definitely doesn't justify what could be HUNDREDS of runs to get any set rings!!! Makes me question if they are even part of the loot tables lol. And let's not even talk about the chances of getting the correct set ring, with the correct trait....

Yea I ended up wanting to do it on my nightblade simply because stealth and you are able to sneak up for bombing purposes. The dk though I thought might be interesting cause you can get fire and ice damage in same passive.. However I decided to do my magica health regen build with him since he's nord (3800 health regen with perma frost, could get over 5k if I wanted but it Gimps damage) but winterborn procs enough and like I said ice comet is incredibly good with it and nereinth.

you are on range, so malubeth would be worthless

and make it proc frost damage on fire attacks, that way you could use your normal DK attacks to also proc winterborn :P

I theorycrafted this build a while back but haven't gotten the rings to make it either.

Definitely looking forward to playing it too. This looks fun to play and annoying as all hell to play against!
