Magicka Sorc DW Passives?

Tried for the first time tonight going with a DW/Inferno Staff loadout tonight on my Magicka Sorc and have been liking it so far. My question, is there any other Dual Wield passives other than Twin Blade & Blunt that would benefit a Magicka Sorc who doesn't use any actual DW abilities?

Nobody? Well, I've only put two points into Blade & Blunt until I hear whether any other DW passives add benefit.

In regards to running DW with Magicka Sorc, I initially thought I'd hate it... running around with virtually useless weapons while casting spells... but in reality, I'm having a blast. Using Mage's Wrath, Crystal Frag and Velocious Curse... it's quite a destructive trio with DW Swords- along with giving me an extra set bonus. ;)

Nope, that's the only passive that's helpful for us!. Why don't you run a restro staff in place of your destro? Do you pvp?

I asked the same thing to my guild earlier, due to me respeccing to free up some skill points

Apparently, the Twin Blade and Blunt is the only passive you need. The first 3 are not needed to Magicka Builds at all:

    1. Slaughter: for Dual Wield skills, no use since they're Physical Damage
    2. Dual Weild Expert: for Weapon Damage, not needed for Magicka Builds who need Spell Damage
    3. Controlled Fury: again, for Dual Wield Skills

I thought Ruffian might be good, but apparently that's only for Dual Wield Attacks. Could be useful for Anim Cancelling but I don't think the 15% damage bonus is that much of a difference

So yeah, just the last passive then. Only 2 points needed

I don't do PvP at all only Solo PvE. I run Destro for Elemental Ring- the only spammable AoE that we have and works great for Public Dungeon or other mobs when combined with Hardened Ward.

I'm considering running DW on both bars along with Steel Tornado and using Purple food instead of Blue... even with a Magicka build, it wouldn't surprise me if Steel Tornado still out-damaged Elemental Ring. Being able to utilize the extra crafted set bonus gaining extra spell damage is always good. However, I don't want to go with a hybrid build, so I'm concerned that ST, even with Purple food buff, might not be spammable enough. But right now on my Destro bar, the only Destro skill slotted is Elemental Ring... so I can't help but think I could be doing something better, but I don't want to lose a spammable AoE- which is essential for solo builds IMO.

Yeah I really don't recommend steel tornado if you're running dungeons with people. If you're just soloing and exploring the world, then hey have fun with it haha. Pulsar is a great aoe in pve because everything rushes to you. Can't give you much advice on your build, though, since I strictly pvp. I mostly recommend going dual wield if you have inevitable detonation, but since you're also running a destro staff you should be ok

And purple food is great as well. I use it and my frags still hit for a solid 12.1k unbuffed. I just need to max out my CPs to bring it up another thousand

Typically I run Blue food to increase Health/Magicka. I only run Purple if I have something I need both Magicka and Stamina for... currently with my Magicka Sorc, I really have no need to increase my Stamina. However, if I went with ST on my secondary bar, I would definitely have a use for the increase to Stamina.

No, I have a magicka sorc and I've read many posts about it. Twin blade and blunt is all you want from that tree.

Thought of another question... because we aren't actually using our DW weapons, is there any reason to add an enchantment or even upgrade them? I'm not sure if Spell Power/Spell Damage works off your weapon DPS if you're not actually using the weapon or weapon tree abilities.

I put Absorb Magicka on them

Mixed with Siphoning Attacks, it could prove useful when your Magicka reserves are low

I didn't realize that Sorcs had access to the Nightblade's Siphoning line; I did mention that I'm a Magicka Sorc. ;)

Not sure as Sorc that I'd want to sit there swinging my swords in hopes of getting an enchantment proc to return a tiny bit of Magicka... in that situation, I'd be best served drinking a potion or running away to regen Magicka. However, I have yet to ever run out of Magicka. Based on depletion of enchantment charges, it appears that the only time your weapon enchantment works is when you actually attack WITH your weapon- so putting enchantments on weapons that you never use are pointless.

In regards to my idea earlier of trying Steel Tornado with my Magicka build... nah, the amount of damage is less than half of what I'm generating with Elemental Ring thanks to my high Magicka pool, along with my CP's into Elemental Damage. Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained. :)

Yeah, ik you said Sorc, just stating that for any Magicka Build out there that there are skills that along with an Absorb Magicka enchant would be the best choice for DW Swords. In my case Siphoning Attacks, for you Power Surge

You don't have to swing your swords per se: you can start out fighting with using light/heavy attacks but from the moment you see your Magicka reserves going low, you can try to swing them around a bit and at least try to regain some Magicka from it. Also with weaving, it'll keep you in the fight a bit longer
