On the other hand, most of crowns arent leading groups for charity. They do it because they enjoy that role.

True. I'm just trying to raise awareness to the fact that leading a group isn't an easy job and we should support group leaders instead of yelling at them whenever anything goes wrong (Even though it may be really their fault). Good leaders are already a rare breed as it is.

    • The 1vX Snowflake - No matter how many times you say the group should travel together, they're not included in that.
    • The Socialiser - It doesn't matter that you just engaged an enemy raid, this person needs to tell you about their awesome day.
    • The Backseat Leader - You really should have done this, and you really should be doing that, this person knows all the superior tactics. They won't lead mind you, they're the first to admit they don't have the knowledge required for that.
    • The Debater - Something when wrong! Stop the raid! We have to fix this now! No, no, ignore the scroll they just stole, we have to fix this NOW!
    • The AP Wh*re - "Damn that was an intense defence, what we're leaving to protect our scroll keep? Hold I just need to AFK because.... reason!"
    • Top Gun - This person is the best player in all of ESO. Don't worry if you didn't know, they'll soon inform you how they just killed 12 guys solo while you defending the flags.
    • The Crow - If it's shiny, they have to be the first to touch it. Don't worry about those orders to wait for the group at the well or who will carry the scroll, it's shiny so it must be touched.

Does the leader of a group gain more AP than the rest of the group?

Most group leaders make alot more APs than the rest of the group for a very simple reason. Especially for sorcs or leaders with a gap closer. Crystalized is the best example I can give you (without denying any of his skills). Anytime he would make a call to push a pack of enemies, he would streak ahead and get the first hits.

As a group leader, you are the one who make the calls and you always have a slight edge in front of your groups to attack enemies first. If on top of that you have alot of burst damage, you will, most of the time, deal the most damage on most enemies, meanwhile gaining the most APs from your group.

That also has to do with them being the last to fall. Because when the group leader dies, the group goes down with him. Less time being dead equates to higher AP gain. Not to mention the innate value of the experience and skills a good leader has gained from months and months of leading.

There are leaders who are purposely crowned Emperor by their guild. One way is they will defend a resource from the enemy faction. Then before the Defense tick happens, the players in the group will go out of range of the resource, leaving the leader there by themselves to receive the entire AP tick. Then they will repeat the process.

I'm not saying that all Emperors earn AP this way. But I do know of one who received his Emp title like this. That is one of the reasons they took away the ex-Emp passives.

If that group really wants to crown an emperor, they can go a step further and log in on their opposing faction alts that are grouped into the campaign and then die at a resource with the would-be emperor as the sole defender, making sure to tag each kill with at least a light attack.

The system is, in some ways, such a crock that I wonder why guilds don't have "duel" events that are basically an AP laundering scheme similar to the above scenario where they just wipe each in turn at alternative resources for the sole purpose of racking up AP. People have been running around with Magicka Detonation in BwB lately, leveled in their 30's, it makes me wonder. I would actually be surprised if this isn't how some folks at #1 outpace a more or less linear leaderboard AP spread by double the points of the #2 player. People really want that hideous emperor costume for whatever reason, now that it's account-wide.

I rarely lead, but am 100% in favor of the group leader getting more AP than everyone else. We have some excellent group leaders who bust their butt when leading, and quite honestly, without them in this game, I wouldn't be playing anymore.
