PvP Leadership/Tactics

I usually am in a random team of 8 with different leaders each time (not found a guild yet) and it baffles me how some of the leaders...well, lead. So I was wondering, if you PvP what tactics do you use? Do you like to take all resources before taking the keep to avoid enemy players spawning there or are you just looking for fights on the battlefield? Do you try to capture the closest keeps or travel further out to break their links? Colour me interested!

It's a decision you have to make as a group. Taking a farm reduces the npc's strength. Taking a lumber mill reduces a doors strength. Taking a mine reduces a walls strength. Taking all three blocks their ability to tranport into the keep. Taking any, or all, of them takes time.

The game's central concept of "PvP in PvP areas and be safe in safe areas" needs to stay the way it is.

Whoa. Didn't know that. Is there like an in-game book or something where you can read that sort of stuff?

I wish there was a book. I've learned what know from other players, these forums, or reddit.

Even an in-game book near where the quests are handed out would be a good idea. I knew about the enemies not being able to spawn at the keep if you have all resources captured, didn't know the other stuff!

also there s a passive in alliance war skill line that gives +10% regen in stam and magic i think for 10 mins after taking a ressource.

And about leaders... well. My 2 cents: if you don t find a good group don t hesitate to form your own and invite people, even if you re not very experimented. If you communicate, discuss tactics with ppl and ask for regroup and cohesion from time to time you ll already be better than many pick up groups leaders and it ll be interesting for you and many members to discuss, try to synergize etc

Have always suggested resources before keep. When am a follower and a leader. The larger the group, the greater the capability of us splitting up to attack two resources simultaneously.
Am still learning Cyrodiil culture of course.

Taking resources can sometime backfires and gives opponents time to port into the keep - getting the keep down to 50% fast so it goes under siege (i.e. people can't port in) can be better if you can, then if you have time you can always take a key resource while you knock the rest of the wall down. All depends if you are expecting the keep to be defended and whether the defenders will be good enough to beat your raid.

Or... there is no right answer... tactics should shift depending on the prevailing situation...

The tactics a leader use in pvp depends on the strategic situation and the capacity of your group. First are people on voice communication or not. Chat is wortless during a fight, nobody have time to look in the chat or send information. If I lead a group without voicecom I prefere open area fights and resources where the disadvantage is more limited. With a group on voice com who know each other one can take on everything, so it depends in the strategic situation. A few cases, lf you need to take a keep fast before defenders can reinforce go for the keep directly. If the keep is well defended try the resources and find allies.

    Depends on what you're doing.

In my PvP days I was a fan of ninja-ing keeps, i.e. siege both outer wall AND inner wall at the same time until they were just above 50% (keeps are not flagged as under attack until either inner or outer is at 50), then going all out on the outer and finishing the inner. If you don't get caught, by the time the keep is flagged it's completely unprotected and the owner faction can't port to it any more.

If you go for resources, chances are someone will notice them flipping and port there in case there is an attack. In fact, on the PC there are add-ons that alert you to resources/keeps under attack or flipping.
