I use iTunes on my second screen, and when I want to have my learnt-traits .excel doc open instead I use the little LCD screen on my keyboard to control my music
I play one of three different playlists:
-Metal (Avenged Sevenfold, Alter Bridge, Blind Guardian, Dragonforce, Rhapsody)
-Previous TES soundtracks (I have the 2-disc version of the Skyrim one, so if I run out of that whilst playing I know I've been on too long)
-Calming quiet Rock (Augie March, Arcade Fire, Josh Pike, A Perfect Circle)
Basically if you have two screens (you should be able to pick up an old 1440x900 for pretty cheap at garage sales and the like, as 1920x1080 seems to be king now), you can have a music player/playlist showing on that so as to ease transition. You could even use VLC as a music player if you don't like iTunes?
love alter bridge and i can see how dragonforce and rhapsody on fire would fit in aswell
if you like those bands check out hammerfall and kamelot

Eh, I did try those but they didn't stick with me as much. Kamelot in particular was just a bit absurd at times which I liked but it didn't necessarily fit with the music as well as it could...

Windowed mode? No. Just ALT + Tab out and start any other program on your PC that plays music and ALT + Tab back to ESO and turn the in game Audio down.

I use windowed mode, but only because it measn I don't have to alt+tab out to my 2nd screen. That's pretty much the main use I see for it.

You have two screens, but you play in windowed mode.....
In my old office I had 3 screens on my desktop, two for my work station, and one for my surveillance monitor. Then I especially use ALT + Tab as a superior task switcher (and you don't have to play any media in windowed mode).
The LCD screen on the keyboard to control the music sounds nice.
