Why do I need to buy the DLC twice?

My boyfriend and I play ESO on the PS4 and we bought the DLC on my account, but it isn't unlocked on his. So unless he starts all over again on my account, under my name he can't play the DLC he bought? Sorry if this sounds like a "QQ" but we bought the game, play the game and should be able to play the DLC without paying twice for it

Edit: as with every other game we have played the DLC unlocks on both accounts as it's only one console we use.

Should've made the character on the same account or have two consoles. Either way you found the one way to make this advantage a disadvantage. Im sorry to hear that.

Edit: you said you bought the game. Yeah one game me right? You are already ahead of PC as you gotta buy it for each account made.

Yeah, I game for a living and need my own account. Plus when we co-op we have to sign in separately.

I could do that! Although I think there's a limit on how many accounts we can have.

Having two consoles would be nice but then we'd need two TVs

That's why it's sold through the crown store makes sense now. Part of the ZOS scam. Your psn account didn't buy dlc your eso account did. Only thing psn sold you was crowns

I hope they look into it. It's as bad as EA's decisions in...well, everything.

Yeah I stream, a bit of youtube now and then - plus I'm the CEO of my own company. Only a baby atm but got a good team of fellow youtubers and streamers!

It is very weird that the game install is system based (I can play on both my EU and US PSNs....even though I've only brought the game once), but DLCs are account bound. Nevermind the oddity around PS+.

But I guess at least it's consistent with other Crown Store purchases.

The disk PC players get is useless, they have to "register" it AKA buy again with the included code through a 3rd party company like steam. the main reason why if you ever bought just the disk and not the code or the code was already usedyou have been scammed. same thing with skyrim no purchase through steam no play. it is part of an anti piracy thing. Xbox and PS4s respective ulas disallow dependence on 3rd party stuff like this hence the reason we never have to go through this crap and can give games to friends when we are done with them.

It makes sense as they have to view different accounts as completely different people meaning that they need to pay as well. It is like saying you want your best friend to go on a ride at the park with you and because you are together they should get that ride for free despite 2 random people who don't know each other to pay.

No one has to buy the DLC twice. Each account has to buy the DLC separately, though. On PC you'd have had to buy the base game twice, so be thankful you don't have to do that. I'm not trying to be insensitive to your situation, but it is a fairly "QQ" complaint as you put it.

On PS4 if you buy a Game/DLC it becomes available for any account on the console. Been that way a long time so a family can have multiple accounts. The only reason it's different in this case is because you have to buy crowns from ps store, then dlc from the crown store which is a different transaction is not account wide on ps4. I hope that clarifies confusion although im not so good at explaining stuff

Same with PC NA/EU versions all crown store bought items are Megaserver bound not account bound, only reason I don't play on EU as well as NA.

The purchases are ESO-account-bound. So, if you have seperate accounts, you need to purchase it twice.
But -you- don't need to purchase it twice, your boyfriend just needs to purchase his DLC seperately.

True, some DLCs are console-bound. But that's not how it works in ESO, everything here is with the ESO account. makes perfect sense if you think about it...

It is B2P - for someone who games for a living - this should be obvious to you. :-)

Spend the other few bucks and just please get over it.

For all of us who HAD TO PAY A SUB for a year to fund the development FOR CONSOLES - please just BUY A SUB or buy the dlc. This is your business, you're self-employed, so handle it.

I am a freelance graphic designer and you don't hear me [snip]ing that I have to buy Photoshop and Illustrator.

Buy yours, deduct it on taxes and call it a day.

You don't need to go through Steam or any other third party, you can register directly on ZOS's website.

Own ESO on PC and it runs poorly because my PC sucks - Just wondering with consoles and ESO, if I bought it and later gave it to my brother when done, I'm assuming he's obviously be able to play with his gamertag but obviously things like crowns etc. wouldn't. Are crowns and things associated with my gamertag itself or do you associate your gamertag to an account (such as the account log into on PC)?
