So I went back and started completing achievements.

✭✭I always get the Master Explorer, Skyshards, and Adventurer achievements before exiting an area. I also don't leave and Alliance until I get all of the Alliance-specific achievements, so don't feel bad, OP.
There's a certain part of the human psyche that greatly desires to collect/achieve everything possible. Exploring that is not bad in any way.
Plus, if you RP with your characters; it makes for some very, very good storytelling for those characters' exploits.
