Was wondering, has TBS been proven to provide more DPS than Julianos? (With both Thief+Shadow as the mundus stones)

What would you go for?

    Only with the Thief, though.

It's been pretty well proven that julianos is better by about a percent and a half. I personally prefer tbs though

TBS if you have low Champion Points.

    Julianos if you have 200+

the flipping point is actually 338 where julianos becomes better.

EDIT* Assuming your a DK or Sorc and put your CP all first into elemental expert and then Elfborn. It's a slightly lower number if you are a magblade or mag templar. Probably somewhere around 250.. It's not 200 though..

In one scenario for some classes sure. However that isn't an absolute it doesn't make sense to craft a V16 set you're going to be replacing shortly so from 200-300 or so they are close enough that it's bettter to craft Julianos.

Interesting, was almost certain that TBS is the stronger of the two.

Edit: Do people also factor in the fact that there's a minimum recommended health amount for PvE and TBS gives health? Which means that you wouldn't have to use a health glyph on one of your gear pieces (or put attribute points into health) thus increasing your max magicka pool and as a result increasting your damage. No?

It really depends exactly in what sense you are comparing the two. From a Templar point of view I will share some insight.
These comparisons were made before changes to Piercing Spear Passive, however the results are still the same

Twice Born Star - Metric: 133676
    lT8a7uO.png

    Julianos - Metric: 134558
    OWx692z.png

Depending how exactly you do your Champion Points and if you are at the 501 limit or not, Julianos in most cases will win based on the RNG game, the difference isn't much but it's there in a full damage set up. There are other set ups I have in mind but I don't exactly want to share those just yet. Twice Born Star offers some great choices for self sustain it is a good option for Maelstrom Arena, however based on my set up how I play I can't run with Twice Born Star I don't like the magic regeneration on it, and it bottle necks you into using Thief and Shadow whereas Julianos you can use Atronach.

Shout out to @Asayre for the help in getting these results awhile ago.

In most cases I considered, Julianos is better than Twice-Born Star just based on dps metrics. I'm not sure what class you are thinking about but you can read my thoughts on Julianos and Twice-Born Star for a Sorcerer at

In one scenario, I did take into account the extra health from Twice-Born Star and Julianos was still better.

None of them, one of them requires me just to play on a server where at least 1 person bought the dlc.

    TBS
I like TBS hence my vote, but the difference in DPS is so class/situation based not to mention burst/sustain dps? and what gear you have paired with it. I think julianos being new will skew any poll in its favor.

    @Asayre

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but there was discussion in my guild last nite about which set is better and I have noticed Asayre to be genius in the math's. I'm wondering if julianos is still best set for most PvE wise magic users with the changes to CP. Most people arguing were well over 300 CP and many are maxed now. Not a heated argument, more of discussion that seem to end with personal preference.
I like my Julianos, Willpower, Monster, Tourgs.....because it's all gold and my Skoria or Nierenth would not be so optimized for mundus.

I vote for Julianos...but only for Solo and 4-Man Content. (and maybe PVP)
I prefer TBS for Trials, because TBS needs support from Warhorns and other buffs to be better than Julianos.

    Personally, I prefer a 5-piece Julianos.

My MagTemplar has Julianos x5, and I've pumped every single Mage point into the Apprentice Constellation, and my Crit chance is outstanding, and my damage when the Crit procs... wow.

    Damage. all. day.

I'm still of the opinion that Julianos is better than TBS for more casual raid groups and all other PvE. TBS will be better than Julianos if you have a high uptime on Major Force.

But keep in mind the difference is rather small. I've include a picture from my latest simulation. The blue histogram is the result of 10,000 simulations and the red line is one in game test.

The simulation is based on Slimecraw in normal Wayrest without any buffs/debuffs with a sorcerer.
