House of Orsimer Glories Reward - Supposed to be a Bear Mount

It's very clear from the way the quest is written, that the Bear Mount was supposed to be the reward for completion of the House of Orsimer Glories. This has been changed to three costumes.

I just have to say I think this was a very poor choice. You should have offered the costumes in the crown store and kept the bear mount as the reward for completion of the quest. I understand mounts are profitable, and I want the game to be financially successful. You however could have offered a different colored bear in the crown store.

Please re-consider having mounts which you can earn in game. This in my opinion was a bad decision and was made for only financial reasons.

I had the exact same thought and also remembered that comment he made...

Edit: It seems like I've seen a different bear mount out there, maybe there is a different quest that rewards it? I haven't finished everything in Orsinium yet so maybe someone else knows...?

It bugs me so much because the story is so well written for the final reward. Coldwind will return when Orsinium has its greatest need to a Hero of Wrothgar...

The rewards did not make sense for the quest. It was a clear change from what was originally intended.

Having just done that questline I agree the bear mount would've been a more fitting reward. Oh well.

There's a bear mount in the 5000 crowns Orsinium bundle (and a bear cub pet)

Of course they aren't going to put their bestsellers out in the game....moneymakers belong in the cashshop making the money..

Yeah I certainly thought the same thing. I still like the costumes, but free mount would've been amazing.

That's the only bear in game. From the Crown Store. It was supposed to be an award for completing the final quest after the Hero of Wrothgar.

It has nothing to do with money, they just started to make Orsinium before Crown Store. Stuff like Orsinium doesnt happen in 1 day or even week, they have probably worked on it 1 year easily.

In July it was still supposed to be a reward.

Trying to think of the last time they rewarded a mount for completing a quest line.. Nope, nothing is coming to mind.

They would never have kept a mount as a quest reward. That doesn't earn them any money.

It is a big deal. You purchased a dlc, you paid money for it. or you subscribed. If they are using this bear mount in their orsinium ads, then they should make it a quest reward and include that within the game. I'm not even sure what they do is legal worldwide. You don't see "a gamer sued x company" type news on tv often. But it's slowly getting there.

But anyway, it's a part of that game's environment, lore... they are just doing it wrong. Like bmw selling cars and tires seperately.

they should sell bears with glowing eyes and undead skins in the store. What a shame.

I did receive the Senche Tiger, but I hardly think it's relevant. My point (and that of the original thread) is that the Crown Store should not be the only way to obtain new mounts. I'm all for additional versions and colors bought exclusively with crowns, however there should be ways to earn extraordinary mounts in game.

I'm also a bit annoyed about the bear mount and pet, I thought that being a ESO subscriber, you got both of these free when you got Orsinium, now I see I have to buy them with Crown Store coins, now that sucks

I actually expected to get a bear mount too...and i was glad not to get one. When i realised what was going on my first thought was" "Great, now everyone's gonna ride bears instead of horses. Game's gonna turn into a circus in a matter of weeks". As much as i would like to get a free unique mount I'm glad they didn't do it. I truly am because game would look downright stupid after everyone and their dogs would get themselves a bear. Besides what's so bad in an attempt to make money by selling unique mounts? I'ts not like they are selling legendary sets or smthn. I mean They gotta make money to keep game going and it's not the worst way of making money. Far from it actually.

It was a very wise business move. Where are they going to make money? Subs or charging for it in the crown store. They don't get most of their money from subs. They get it from people who buy in the crown store. I paid a sub and bought the content with the bear.

However, I already bought the CE of Orsinium so that is why I do not mind.

Well there are potential white and black bears available so we could still get a bear as a reward... or they might end up on the crown store like everything else.

I would like to see something for subscribers rather then always focusing on the crown store because subscribers make money for ZoS too!

Mounts as quest rewards are the stuff of subscription-based games -- in other words, what ESO was when they wrote the story for the quest (yes, Orsinium has been around that long).

It would have been great to see it as a reward, but I can understand why it is no longer one (even if I don't like it). It's just funny to see so plainly how they re-geared content they had already developed (thus delaying content, why there was such a big drought) to fit the game's new economic model.

I was just being hopeful that there would be a shiny white bear mount as a reward for something, sometime, just delayed so it isn't leaked in PTS and people have a chance to buy the special edition.

Might be one of the reasons why they aren't allowed to tell us much. Having access to a mount ingame would have been a nice gesture on their part but "nice" and "gesture" aren't in the Marketing departments vocabulary.

Other things were changed as well. We saw on PTS WW writs with Bristlecone as a mat and some indications that it was originally intended to be a VR18 zone. Thankfully in that case

It wouldn't have been "free" anyway to have it as a quest reward as originally intended - everyone doing that quest either subscribed or purchased the Orsinium DLC. It was just plain greedy and lazy to change the reward without changing the quest line. Disappointing but not surprising.

Lazy...they should have rewritten the quest line for sure but I'm sure they wrote the story way before they ended up having to drop to B2P and just didn't think about the implications.

Actually I can name a few btp or ftp games that have cash shops AND allow you to obtain mounts or vehicles in game. So your statement is incorrect. They offer them as quest rewards or by completing certain acheiements or tasks.

Except Rich's comment about Orsinium was in July, which was well after B2P dropped. Yes, they should have changed the quest to match. ZOS has every right to change what they see fit, its their game. However, when you over look things like this, it gives the consumer a bad taste in their mouths. Or at least it should.

True but writing it first is what I'm talking about. It's obvious that ZOS made a dollar sense choice about putting the mount in the store. Reality is that it will make them much more money in the store. What would be awesome is if they saved the baby bear as a reward...or if they rewrote it.

About the bad taste in customers mouths...I don't think they care. In order for the game to exist they have to make money and subs aren't cutting it. That means special things need to be added to the store. They made a choice whether people like it or not. Very few people are going to leave the game because of it and those who do leave will be replaced.
