Lost access to DLC

So i've been subscribed since launch back in 2014 with the 180 day subscription. I played imperial city and decided that i dont want to stay subscribed anymore. so I let my last 180 day sub run out. Before it ran out, Orsinium was released (November 2nd). So here i am coming back to eso to check out orsinium and maybe start playing again. "you can buy the dlc in the crown store" Soooo.... those $300 i spent on staying subscribed don't mean anything if i don't pay another $20 for a dlc i've already played (imperial city) and payed for with my subscription and another $20 for this dlc (orsinium) that i wanted to try after paying with my subscription.

No where did I ever read that ESO plus was a monthly fee to own DLC's. It says you get them as part of the sub. If you believe this is not right then my simple suggestion is do not sub. The sub path has always been in my opinion a option to support the game beyond buying the initial game or a DLC.

It is a matter of preference and disposable income.

Now maybe in the future this will change, but as it stands now it is not the case.

Regardless of how long you subscribed for, regardless if Orisinium was released prior to that subscriptions expiration, you only receive the DLC, at no extra charge, as long as you have an active ESO+ subscription. ESO+, essentially, allows you to "rent" the DLC. Without ESO+, the DLC requires a separate purchase if you want to "own" it. It's the same on console. I may or may not be renewing ESO+ come the new year. With that said, should I want to enter the Imperial City or venture into Wrothgar, even though I'll have had the DLC prior to cancellation of ESO+, I'm fully aware access to either zone is dependent on continued activity of ESO+ and/or separate purchase of the DLC.

I see what you're saying. I had assumed that any dlc released during a subscription period would unlock that dlc permanently. Might just seem more discouraging to me after being subbed for such a long time. On the bright side of things this saves me some grinding time.

IC DLC, iirc, is 2500c, while a month of ESO+ is $14.99 on console, which I believe the same cost for 1,500c. In a way, it's been cheaper for me to keep ESO+ active than having to purchase the DLC separately.

Saves some cash in your case for sure. IC was the first dlc after 2 180 day subscriptions so everyone that dropped their sub as soon as B2P happened saved more than the cost for IC. Now that Zeni wants to do monthly dlc's it's better for people that want to play them to just sub. I'm just a PvP'er so the dlc's only matter to me if a new set bonus is overpowered. Definitely not worth buying the dlc or subing in my case. #removeAOEcaps #FENGRUSHforpresident
