Laurels should be able to be traded or sold?

Ok, I am a crafter so collecting all motifs is what I like doing. It my role in my group of friends and guilds. I can craft any item at any level and access to all stations. But I not a big PvP or undaunted pledge runner. But I have all the mercenary motif! So why are laurels bounded? How can one person ask another to craft a set for them? I no problem with how the motif is gained as they can be traded or sold. But limiting the style material makes no sense. What are your thoughts?

I agree they should be trade-able.... but they won't, because: Crown Store! ;)

Sadly ZoS are moving very very quickly to a situation where hardly anything worthwhile is tradeable in the game other than a few normal crafting mats/tempers.

I like the idea, to run dungeons for style material. One more reason to do dungeons. If I could buy from others, probably I would have done it already. This is now a little bit different. It's ok.

It's fine as is. It actually gives a reason to farm dungeons besides helms. Guildmates and I run a 5 dungeon rotation very frequently to farm for helms (VSpindle, VWayrest, VDC, VCoH and VCoA) and it's really easy to farm up to 20 laurels daily if your group is fast and efficient.

Also it gives crafters some relevance again after the Glass motif fiasco, mainly since Mercenary style items actually look better than glass stuff. Since Monday I've gotten about 10-12 requests for crafting items in Mercenary style after mentioning in my trade guild that I already completed the entire motif.

Uh, you JUST got an entire region and DLC tailor-made for solo players, and the next two are more than likely going to be solo focused as well.

Tell me where they're "forcing you to group."

Yes. I have a friend who likes trying out different styles of things. I have many of the Mercenary pages on my main already, but I haven't had a chance to run any dungeons since the patch (Orsinium and Extra Life have kept me busy). He would like me to craft him stuff so he can try it out, but I don't have any laurels. If I could tell him "go get the laurels and I'll craft it for you" it would make things much more fun for both of us.

Just because, I honestly dont know what to do with all the laurels I'm getting. I only craft for myself and occasionally when friends need 8/9 triat or nirn stuff, so I dont need stacks of laurels and I'm getting several new ones every day. Will have to start deleting them soon enough.

Crafting is already tedious, now you have to do 5 dungeons+ to craft the gear you want the way you want? That's the most stupid timesink yet lol.
Some pve players don't craft. Some crafters don't pve... That's a nice closed circle.
Also forcing players (in this case crafters) to do something they dislike will never turn out well.

It's nothing to do with being able to access the style and levelling crafts....

Its more to do with the fact people will end up with stacks of the stuff they can't use, and the fact that looking at the bigger picture ZoS is creating content and items that are no longer tradeable, causing problems with the cost of content Vs the gold rewards they are getting from running it.

We're fast approaching the point where some are saying they are having to farm to earn the money for the stuff just to do certain content. That is not a healthy situation either for the playerbase retention or the games economy.

My biggest issue is RNG and BoP. Half the motif chapters and it took me 14 runs to get 3 laurels for gear. It is just bad...

The chances of getting the style material from teh bosses is relative to the amount of pages you already learned of the style. You got 1 page out of teh 14? then your chances are around 1/14 of getting the mat. you learned all the armor pieces, but no weapon yet? well you got 50'ish % of chances then, you learned the whole style? it will always drop. Simple as that.

And as far as the tendency of the "New Items being BoP", I should remind you that they DID come from a DLC. so you paid for the chance of getting those items. they are part of you now. No turning back.

Wrong. They came with the Orsinium patch, but not as a part of the Orsinium DLC. They're a base game addition.

And it makes sense that they're BoP if they're part of the base game, because now they have something to throw up in a cash store later on.

There should a real reason to re-run dungeons, not some BS crafting material that you can only get if you do it with your crafter. Having a BoP crafting mat as the reason people actually repeat your dungeons? How lame Zeni.

Only the most OCD of crafters will go at this, the rest, well the rest will just say F it to the Merc style.

Make laurels tradeable. Lock them behind PvP. 10k AP for 1 Laurel.

As a crafter in other games, I never felt like I had to do any content I didn't want to. I made the stuff I wanted to use. Now they are forcing dungeon runs to be able to craft things.

This is a great way for even a lackluster (lol lackluster, what a stupid word borrowed from the CNBC book of vague words) player can make a lot of money doing undaunted pledges and then charging a premium on crafting mercenary gear. The only reason a crafter would want this unbound is because they hate gold and like living the socialist lifestyle giving away their labor in return for ERP and warm fuzzies. Put a price on it and charge for it you pinko.

Nope. A dev gave us the "formula" a couple of days ago (on this forum, but too lazy to look for it).
The chance to get a laurel is zero if you haven't learned any page, 50% if you have learned ONE page, and 100% if you have learned all pages (the rest spreading evenly between 50% and 100%).

That drop rate is for vet dungeon bosses, it's only 1/4 for normal dungeon bosses.

    They should be tradeable.

But after a few weeks, I think this will be a non-issue.

I've already spent 10 laurels crafting two sets of gear for my own use (I really love how it looks on light). Another 6 laurels crafting pieces of test gear to see if I like the style (and got none of them back in decon--either I had a really bad run of RNG there, or the decon rate is bugged), and another 10 laurels sitting in reserve in my bank. 26 total in just one week. And now that I'm done crafting gear and test items, it's just going to pile up.

As a tank, I do get a lot of requests from my contacts to run dungeons, but I'd imagine that after a couple of weeks, most people will be in the same boat as me and have more laurels than they can use.

But, again, they should be tradeable. I wouldn't mind making some coin selling mine. ;)

Same with me. I don't love PvPing and dunjes cause of lags that had been much lesser b4 1.6 had been released.
But my crafter don't have any options but to go and grind that mats.
    That's not fine, that's a real shame.

I address to anybody who answered that current state is fine:
How can I get that mats if the game is unplayable for me in dunjes?

I detest any item being bind-on-pickup, and would only tolerate a few individual, unique rewards being bind-on-equip.

It ruins opportunities for trade, which is antithetical to an MMO. It's a single player game mechanic.
