Where are the Spears?

I heard awhile ago, from where I do not remember, that there was a thought of bringing in spears. I think this would be awesome as a weapon and would have to be a single handed weapon so that it could be used with a shield like a spartan set up. I don't see it being able to duel wield though cause that would just be weird. I like the "spear" that comes from Templar abilities but I would like to have something more permanent and stylish. There could be a cool skill line also with the spear I would think especially if it is integrated with the shield. What y'all think?
