Just to quickly share my thoughts after a few days of PTS!
Top gear for Templar Magicka DD will be:
A)
5 x Julianos (Light Divines)
2 x Molag Kena (Med and Heavy Divines – tradeable by 2 x Torug’s)
3 x Willpower (Arcane RFC/Spell Damage balance)
1 x Maelstorm Staff
OR
5 x Julianos (Light Divines)
1 x Molag Kena (Med or Heavy Divines)
3 x Willpower (Arcane RFC/Spell Damage balance)
2xTorug’s(Med or Heavy Divines + Nirnhoned Greatsword)
Now, why staff? I tried out in PTS and with A) I was on 2.880 Spell Damage and on 2.930 Spell Damage. Both 52% crit chance and exact same magicka/HP/regen values.
My conclusion is that if the difference between staff and GS is only 50 Spell Damage… well, maybe is worthy to start weaving jabs with medium inferno staff shakes. I am honestly tired of magicka users with swords and maces and that bs! I still have to do a pure raw DPS race with both and come back with solutions, but seems like is viable!Nosferatuzod replied to above with:
Best setup for Orsinium for a Magicka templar is:
5 piece Twice Born Star with Shadow and Thief
3 piece willpower Jewelry with all spell damage enchants
4 piece seducer (2 armor, 2 swords)
Optimized with 5 Light 1 Medium 1 heavy.
Why Twice born?
Because the buff to crit chance and crit damage trumps the spell damage increase from Julianus by miles.
Why no kena?
Because you have to put on a staff, which yields less spell power and you are losing the 5% increased damage from the swords passive. Also the increase drain on all resources from kena makes it not worth it for a templar.
Why Dual Wield and not Greatsword?
Because they changed how passives for dual wield swords work. Now they work the same way as on a 2H Sword, making dual wield the goto choice.
The staff on a templar will definitely make a comeback, but only at higher CP caps.
