my idea is similar to the current crafting system, however instead of needing x amount of wood, etc.. You would need special items that would be dropped from bosses in dungeons. These items would be like, 'staff handle fragment' 'various crystals' 'bow string' 'shield handle' 'sword shard'' 'blade fragment' 'sword hilt' etc. you would need to acquire x amount of these items, take them to a special location which would allow you to fuse these pieces together which would create some sort of new item. These items could be pre-existing sets, or brand new set items.
This would/could add a new crafting line, tradable items, new sets, reasons to repeat dungeons/world bosses, build diversity, special effects to certain skills (graphical/mechanical), etc..
