I was just talking about this with a friend of mine and I feel like the only thing that keeps me logging in are the friends I've made through this game. Sadly, however, they're all leaving because they're not enjoying the game any longer. I know I should play a game because I love it and not because someone else is but what's an MMO without other people that you enjoy playing with?

Don't feel bad OP... I usually get that feeling when I hit Cadwell's Silver and realize that I won't be seeing my friends in AD anymore. Then I lose motivation to continue and end up starting a new character so I can run AD all over again; hence the reason I have no characters over VR2. *sigh* I keep hoping that one of these times I'll have created a character I enjoy playing so much that it will keep me motivated to play through Silver and Gold.

The vr ranks are the sole reason me and my gf can't play I knock out vrs in a day or two she doesn't she takes a month to hit 50 and can't stand the vr grind so we both at odds with reasons to play.... some of us just don't want to grind and zos doing nothing fast to fix it and the vet player endless loading screens kills it when I warp or dungeon with her.

    - pledges: even though I've currently done 42 of them without finding a monster helm (got plenty of good Shoulders, but no Helmets)
    - gathering mats in IC while I'm researcing the 8th trait on several Light Armor pieces for Kagrenac's Hope, so that I can eventually craft an entire 5 pcs Glass set of it
    - learning how to PvP properly: currently using the Phoenix set for that since it helps me learn from my mistakes and survive a bit longer. Recently joined a PvP Dueling guild and had a couple of fights with some great players from AD. Still have much to learn, but I'll get there :p

This is what ESO is all about.Having fun.Not whining and demanding more, more, more, all the time.If you need someone to give you an incentive, you have no place in ESO. It's a game created out of love for the entire world of The Elder Scrolls. It isnt some game you run through and quit because you think you've done it all. There will always be things to do.Crafting, fishing, hunting, battling and so much more. Ever since I bought Morrowind in 2002,I've loved ES. I also played WoW and thought wouldnt it be awesome if there were others to play the game along side.To feel the life of everyone running around.lol.Morrowind is that beautiful that I wanted to see how others responded to it.Well, while I dont have Morrowind in ESO,I do have bits and pieces of it to enjoy.Like MW, there are tons of stuff to keep doing. I have no plans to stop either. Here is my incentive: One day they might add Vvardenfell.

It is not that uncommon for that to happen definitely a motivating factor in many MMO, but ESO is different it is probably the most anti-social game I have run across that is multiplayer. With how the guilds are designed they are formed more from a business perspective then from a social. So when I group even from guilds it seems to be a PUG 90% of the time, every once in awhile I will get on a streak for a couple of weeks of being with the same people but one way or the other they seem to move on or I do.

There will always be things to be doing but the question is will those activities be worth doing? This is a very gear driven game but when the new shiny seems weaker then the old shiny it discourages you. Also with the flexibility you are really able to customize a build so when you dedicate 64 levels to achieving that build optimally then the new content won't allow for continuation of that path and none of the new options really fit with what you had been doing you get the what a waste feeling.

Well I don't think that are the only two options but I get what you are saying. The games that do have me interested from a MMO perspective are a ways off. But November will be interesting from the single player stand point.

Well I have a range of friends across realms although I seem to either be well above them in level or well below so just chat don't really play together. It is not that I don't like playing the game I really enjoy the lower levels when things are developing which is probably why it took me so long to get to the higher levels. But once I do reach those higher levels I don't have the feeling of power I was expecting.

I've been getting the same feeling. The only real reason I feel like I'm playing anymore is to hang out with my friends but everybody is just constantly pissed off because the game isn't being developed in a healthy way. I'm finding it hard to have any fun lately and I haven't really been playing that long.

I think that as long as you have some sort of goal to work towards, it keeps you playing.

Once you feel like you've beaten the game, that's when it gets boring. And then you feel like there's nothing left to do.

    66 levels :p

ESO isn't the only gear driven game out there, there's plenty of others where once you acquire a new stronger weapons/spell/armor the old one gets discarded immediately. But it's all part of character growth which is mandatory for each RPG

We create a character to explore the world that is given to us and try to make him/her fit into the story of that world. So we think about the character's story, history, personality and abilities and go through the story, making decisions and sometimes getting surprised when something unexpected happens (which is great cuz then you get to think about how your char would react to that situation)

To me it's not important to fully build my chars right away (one of the reasons why I never grind). Eventually, on my main, I did collect all Skyshards, thought about my build and gave him the skills he needed, did all quests and then headed to Cyrodiil to fight in the war. But I actually enjoyed the road to fully building him as much as using him to PvP/doing IC now.

So yeah, in short: I enjoy exploring the world of Tamriel (and the Mundus :p ) slowly completing my chars and then doing whatever I feel like doing with them. The Journey is not more imporant than The End, it's just as important.

And the fact I've 3000 crowns left to spend, I doubt I'll bother with any future dlc after orsinium.
From what I've seen with regards to numbers of players within zones on EU PS4 I feel many have already gone on to other games due to the nerfs etc.
Bugs I can tolerate because they're to be expected but I just feel the major flaws in planning and execution along with lack of information to relevent queries are really letting the player and fanbase down, I've always enjoyed the elder scrolls series and really looked forward to playing it as an mmorpg but this just feels kinda meh now.

Honestly don't play the game anymore as so much is just screwed up. All the classes have 3 good ways to play them and a million "ways" to play but you will suck if you use them. Then there is just a lack of content as ive already done most of the dungeons and they just made vdsa and every trial worthless.

Give it time... The problem right now is they are intent on attempting to drag content out to cater to what I would classify as the soon to be college dropout who spends 18 hours a day playing 1 character to be the l33t3st.

As a result, everything has become a chore. So while you are playing through existing content everything will be fine. When you run out of basic content and hit the hamster wheels, then it will wear on you.

If you enjoy doing them, then yes. That matters so much more than whether you get a decent bit of gear or an achievement. It's sad that so many people have lost sight of the idea of playing a game just for the enjoyment of playing it.

That is the thing I find that I am not really enjoying the vr15-16 content. I found the 1-vr14 content enjoyable but when I hit vr15 and looked at how to advance and the rewards you would receive for doing those activities just not that enjoyable. It is kind of how when you hit the first few VR levels it comes apparent that the methods you had been using for the last 50 levels are no longer going to be effective enough, particularly when you start doing group content.

Staying interested in ESO the last few months has been a challenge. IC was short lived. Granted there will never be enough "new" content to satisfy everybody but I've always been able to find enough stuff to do to keep me interested until recently.

Everything new lately has just been a terrible boring grind. Normally I would be excited to spec out all my characters with new gear but now I loath the thought of it with the terrible rng and ridiculous cost of crafting materials for max lvl.

A lot of my enjoyment use to come from messing around with different builds but that is much tougher now unless you're filthy rich.

I enjoy the beautiful scenery. I love exploring. I love just wandering and taking screenshots. It's an interesting and beautiful world.

I enjoy the soundtrack as well.

I also like gathering and opening chests... even if I didn't need the items it's sort of an 'ooo shiny' compulsion.

I love making characters, coming up with their personalities and backstories. I don't mind playing through familiar stuff with a new character because it's new to them, and I enjoy trying out different skills and playstyles. I get attached to my characters and that's not going to change once I complete all the quests or other content with them.

Sometimes it's just fun to go kill monsters/bad-guys, and I like the visual effects and general way combat works in this game. It doesn't matter if I've already killed that boss or completed that dungeon before, it's still fun to me.

I enjoy helping other players, giving them stuff to research, food for the writ they can't find a recipe for, answering questions about where something is or how something works or whatever. I enjoy healing too, if I'm passing by and spot someone who looks in over their head, I like to help out.

I enjoy running around with friends in the game, just doing whatever. It's a fun thing to 'do' together while simultaneously enjoying the comfort of home.

I tend to be loyal and don't really spread myself thin between lots of games. I'm sure there are plenty of others I'd enjoy, but I'm here, I enjoy it despite various bugs and annoyances, so I don't see much reason to look elsewhere.

imo, vr ranks, cp point issues, broken skills, class imbalance, endless loading screens, lag aren't really demotivating. Nope not at all.

Some cool people you play the game with and activities you do together. That's the motivation source you need to play a mmorpg for a long time.

Speaking of activities what do we have here? Cyrodiil, dungeons, TV stone farming.... err.... questing? rp? fishing? trading? Seriously, people spend many hours playing this game daily. Thanks ZoS there are good amount of dungeons to do for a new game like eso. But both in pvp and pve you team up and kill stuff right?

What do you do together with your friends when when you don't fight? Do we have stupid mini games to kill time? a guild hall or a housing system? build a small boat to just go for an open sea exploration? a maze like the one we saw in one of those harry potter movies? play music together with them? ok they all sounds stupid. but in a massive game like this I expect that kind of stuff to just to have fun for the mad god's sake.

Unfortunately we are missing much to pass the time with... if only we had modders like in all the other ES games, because a large portion of the "stuff" that kept us entertained for so long in those games DID NOT come from the developer.
