@ZOS_RichLambert ,
@ZOS_GinaBruno ,
Hi guys !
So I've explored pretty much all of Wrothgar, finished the main questline, did an awful lot of collecting mats and stealing stuff. I will not comment about combat/difficulty, I was there with a copied character anyway, and many other PTS-players like to focus on this and do it much better than I would.
That was fun to because, frankly, the art is a masterpiece, and the story is awesome. Every place has a special "feel", never feels copy/pasted, but has a very nice touch of the Reach/Markarth atmosphere we experienced in TES5 : Skyrim. I enjoyed every piece of it. The orcish lore is a piece that's been awaited for many years by all TES-fans interested in lore, and you expanded it in a rich, interesting and subtle way. I just love that. And the architecture is brilliant.
The music... awww... the music... the music is amazing. Not more and not less than the music in the entire game, it's all awesome.
I like how you start integrating some of the best add-ons' features like Lootdrop, keep up in that direction, it's great.
That being said, there are a few things that imho need to be addressed.
- Sound (NPC speech) is broken all over the place (My client is in french). Sometimes you hear NPCs, sometimes you don't, seems to depend on the angle/distance from your character, but anyway it needs to be corrected. Luckily all subtitles were there.
- The french is terribad. There are translations mistakes and really bad typos all over the place - and in fact in the entire game. Did you have those made by Google translate ? If yes, hire someone. If it was already done by "real people", just change them and find someone who actually knows french. It's not rare, not difficult, it's technically easy and doesn't even cost much. You should realize that all these little and big mistakes feel like the entire game was made in a sloppy way, and destroy the whole polish of it. Like stains on a beautiful evening dress. Just find someone who masters french and have this person proofread the entire french localization of the entire game : it deserves it urgently.
- You might rethink the position of all wayshrines. Each time I wanted to teleport somewhere, and no matter where, it seemed that the wayshrines were located in the worst possible places for my destination. Also, the positions of wayshrines/crafting stations/merchants/writboards/bank seem to be the worst in the entire game. I understand that you don't want everything to be in just one place, so that players actually walk around and make the city feel lively, but you must also remember that walking around just to get some stuff sold, crafted or banked is not the most fun in the game.
- There are too many mobs. That's true of the entire game but Orsinium feels even worse. You know, when you've cleared a cave, you want to feel some sense of accomplishment and actually be able to explore it in details and enjoy the scenery. But we can't, because of all those damn mobs respawning over and over again, faster than the speed of light. I understand that this is a combat game more than an exploration game, but even then, you know, there's nothing more boring than fighting the same group of three mobs all over again, always with the same IA and using the same rotation. It puts me to sleep in no time. Instead, I'd suggest fewer (if not MUCH fewer) mobs, maybe harder ones, and longer respawning times. You can always leave a cave or two or three full of mobs for grinders.
I insist on this because it is supposed to be a solo-player-area, and therefore appeal to the less-MMO, more-TES/RP/exploration portion of the playerbase, and they might be (very) happy about less mobs.
- There is a problem with the new VR15 crafting writs. You might not be informed enough about the relative price/supply/demand/scarcity of wood/cloth/leather and forge mats at the moment.
Current market prices are as follows (PC/EU) :
VR14 wood : 40g
VR15 wood : 300g
VR14 cloth : 12g
VR15 cloth : 600g
VR14 leather : 6g
VR15 leather : 400g
VR14 stone : 20g
VR15 stone : 400g
Now say I have 100 voidstone : what do I do with it ? sell it for 2000g or do the writ for 700g + hypothetical survey map which will give me back only half of the mats + an even more hypothetical gold temper + an even even more hypothetical part of a motif ??? Let's say it's still debatable.
Now say I have 50 rubedite (the VR15 stone) : what do I do with it ? sell it for
20000g or do the writ for 700g + hypothetical survey map which will give me back only half of the mats + an even more hypothetical gold temper + an even even more hypothetical part of a motif ???
It's not even debatable anymore : I don't do the writ. Even if I want the motif, I'll be better off making the gold and buying the motif in a guild store.
You made the resources resources required for the VR15 writs 50% less (as compared to VR14 writs) , but you haven't realized that the availability of VR15 mats is only about 10% the availability of VR15 mats. There's a big problem here.
And I doubt very much that the market price of mats will drop any time soon since the mats are still so scarce and all the players who did not buy IC or will not buy Orsinium for whatever reason still rely on the players' market to get the mats for their VR16 gear (which require 10 times more mats than VR15 gear - but you know that already ZOS, don't you ?)
Change the design, change the scarcity, change the rewards, change whatever you want but if you don't change anything you might just as well remove the VR16 equipment writs from the game because they're pointless. And you know that the crafting writs are a nice purpose for all casuals who enjoy crafting and farming to log on everyday just for a short hour because they don't have more time on their hands. If there are no crafting writs worth doing, you might loose those players.
That's all for my "quality-of-life" review ! Thx for reading :-)
