Limited edition items make players feel bad, permanently.

You know that niggling sensation in your head that is always weighing you down when you miss out on something? That's what limited edition mounts/pets cause for the entirety of a player's remaining play time.

It's not even that we didn't want to buy it; it's that we weren't playing at the time, or didn't log in at the right time, or didn't realize that they were temporary items. Now we can't get them, and every time we see a player with them, it bugs us on the inside.

I wander around the game knowing I will never get that dapple grey horse that I missed out on, or those chef/blacksmith costumes, because I wasn't playing at the time. A friend of mine missed out on the senche leopard and it bugs her often.

You are putting a cap on Champion Points to allow newer players to catch up to veteran players, so why not do the same with these new players that never got the limited edition Crown Store items?

I don't like feeling bad ZOS. Stop making us feel bad. Please don't do limited edition items, OR, allow us to get them again at a later date.

I like the idea of limited edition items, but I agree with you on your last part. They could revisit these items later on down the track to give people another window of opportunity to get them if they desire.

IIRC they brought that up as a distinct possibility the first time they did a limited edition mount.

I agree somewhat with you. Whenever I see someone with the Ice Wraith pet, I think damn I wish I had that. But at the same time, I understand that players who have these items can feel special or lucky or privileged, so to take that away from them would make THEM feel bad instead. Especially if it's a loyalty reward.

So there's no real way to keep everyone happy. Unless we went back in time and limited edition items never happened :P

Yes but they haven't verified that it's happening, how it would happen, or given a timeline, which doesn't give much hope to me and my sadness.

I like limited time items in the store.

It prevents saturation in the game and makes it more special, for both owning them and seeing them in the game. It makes the world more varied and actually implies a sense of time passing.

Haha, didn't even think of it that way before!

Oddly enough, I bought the brown horse recently, just to see how different it would feel (been using my Guar since I started)

@Prabooo I don't think its a matter of being like everyone else. At least for me, when I think of the Ice Wraith, which I'd love to have, its not that I want to be them, its that the Ice Wraith is one of my favourite creatures in the series :)

The previous model is unique and something that I wanted. I don't buy all limited edition items, just the ones that I want. I had no chance to get those earlier ones that I want.
    Prabooo wrote: »

There are plenty of limited items I did not buy, as stated above. I want some of them, not all, and some of them are unfairly inaccessible to me and others. I don't see what this has to do with "wanting to be like the rest."
I think it separates thoughs who bought this game for them selves. And who's parents bought it for them . I hope the kids keep there brown horse

I don't understand what parents buying games for their kids has to do with limited edition items?

What on Earth are you talking about? You completely missed my point. I would have loved to buy them but I wasn't playing at the time.

Kids waving their parents' credit cards probably can afford more stuff than I do as an undergrad student with a part time job. They also have more time to follow all news about new crown store offers.

Not that it matters; the OP clearly can afford the items, they just missed their availablity window. It's not such a big deal because they're purely cosmetic items, but even so, it would be nice if ZOS rotated them back at some point in the future.

I agree that for players it would be better not to have limited time items. (I don't get the perceived extra value this is supposed to give - I don't care how many other people have the same mounts, pets, costumes etc. I do, I bought them because I like them and that doesn't change just because someone else likes it too.)

But I can understand why they do it because it encourages people to get on and buy. For example I really liked the new lizard pet when I first saw it, but when I previewed it in-game it was smaller than I expected and that made me reconsider buying it. I still might, but I might not. If it was limited I'd probably buy it just in case I ended up regretting it later.

But they can still achieve that effect and bring all the items back regularly, so that sooner or later everyone who wants them will get them. In the long-run it will actually make them more money per-item because it allows people who missed it the first time around (see below) to get it.
    Jura23 wrote: »

If only it was always that simple.

There's a whole variety of reasons someone, through no fault of their own, might be unable to do that. For example today is the first time I've been able to log in since I moved house 3 weeks ago, because it took that long for my internet to get connected. (In spite of being told everything was sorted out 2 weeks before and it would be connected on the day I moved in.)

(Luckily no limited time items were releasing during that time, but that was blind luck, not something I had any control over.)

I know other people who missed limited time items because they had to go into hospital, or are in the armed forces and were deployed somewhere they didn't have time/a decent computer/internet connection to play or something similarly unexpected stopped them from playing.

Finally as strange as it might seem some of us have financial responsibilities beyond video games. If the freezer stops working or the car breaks down or (as often seems to happen) multiple things need to be fixed/replaced at once buying novelty items in a game suddenly drops way down the list of priorities. Sure you can save money in advance to guard against having to make those choices, but for most people who don't earn a huge amount over what they need every month it's not hard for a few unexpected costs to wipe out your savings, at least to the point where, as a responsible adult, you can't justify spending money on something which is inarguably non-essential before getting everything else back on track.

I'm a new player here, and I agree 100% with the OP.I needed to wait 4 months before I start to play skyrim the reason was I needed to go and buy the console and everything else in the USA because games, console are way expensive where I live.So I lost many limited items that I really really wanted to buy from the store and god knows what more I have missed.....since i'm new in here and to the game

I think some things should be limited in scope and availability, like Loyalty Rewards for being subbed for a certain length of time, seasonal costumes like the Pumpkinhead costume. However anything else that is sold in the store should either always be available or is on some kind of rotation of stock so they can be purchased again.

I figured they would bring stuff back eventually. I dunno why they limit the amount of items on the store. There really should be discounted items after they have been out so long or weekly sales like other games.
