In town, using skill, teleporting, afking, moving, etc, don't matter ANYTHING can cause a crash, instant drop to desktop with 'eso has stopped working, please submit useless report so we won't do anything about it' error.
Same here, it's infuriating.
Game crashes at totally random intervals for no reason i can see, sometimes it's during a fight, sometimes while crafting, sometimes while zoning, sometimes while i'm just walking or standing around...
And then i have to restart the launcher, hope the launcher works (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, whether or not i am running it as admin seems to have zero effect) and that the game lets me log in, might take a few tries.
Used to have amd graphics card few months back, had the same issue with that.
tried reinstalling on a different hardrive, and still the issue persists (as do the long load times at beginning, even with ssd).
still happening, no addons enabled, removed them all(completely reinstalled game) STILL crashes.
i7 4790k, 32 gigs ram, heroVII mobo, dual 980ti's, installed onto SSD. NO excuse, no crashes before the update yesterday (oct 12th)
PLEASE some dev comment would be freaking GLORIOUS about this.
crashes are utterly random, can happen when doing nothing, when porting, when logging in, when logging out, it does not matter WHAT your doing (Even afking in a player free zone = crash)
I was wondering already why I was lucky during the last months not having a single crash anymore since I usually can never leave out any issue the game has to offer. And today it finally happened, yay.
I was just questing in the Desert, not in any unusual way, I guess. Then I the game froze for a few seconds, a blackscreen appeared, then I went to the taskmanager to bring me at least to the desktop, and there was the crash reporter window already. Nice, haven't seen this in a while.
Most recent examples are when in cyrodiil but the same happens anywhere (And often it boots me out of cyro into wheever I was, it also resets all my 'settings' i changed (Now my map is forced/defaulted to most zoomed in and i always had it zoomed out)
Me too. I actually removed my addon folder and it's still happening.
EDIT: I was able to fix this problem by going into the c:>users>*username*>Documents>Elder Scrolls Online>live> folder and renaming UserSettings.txt "OldUserSettings.txt" and then restarting the game. This will regenerate the UserSettings.txt text document to the default settings. I had futzed with this document a few times using advice from other users on the internet. I had thought I had restored each change as I found it didn't work, but maybe I didn't. Anyway, you can delete the OldUserSettings file after you're done if it resolves the problem.
last ticket just came back with the canned 'you can fix all eso problems by fixing firewall' answer. I don't think a dev is going to do *** about this sadly.
not blocked by firewall, no addons (Or addons, no difference to crashes if they are on or not) no 'location' causing it(it's happened everywhere ingame, in dungeons, alone, afk, moving, questing, reading books, opening stores, teleporting, etc it happens AT ANY TIME)
PLEASE some dev interaction about this. Even a useless 'we are looking into it' reply would make me feel better about this.
For some reason, ESO does not like me crafting in Riften. Every. Single. Time. I go to the craft station, it crashes. Sometimes it's as soon as I click it, sometimes it's after I've finished, sometimes it's when I open my inventory, while other times it's while I'm walking away from it. The screen just freezes up for a few minutes, then dumps me with the crash report. And when I try to log back on, it does the whole "go straight to blank screen, then crash again" thing...or, in one instance, lets me log back on with the same character, only to have her frozen in the same spot where it crashed. It's so annoying!
And yet another (Remember these are just random picks I 'catch' before closing. I get 10-15x this many crashes. PLEASE RESPOND DEVS.) *Tickets result in canned auto-responses about checking my firewall and other useless help.

eso has stopped working.

While our engineers can make use of the crash reports, unfortunately we are unable to use them to provide useful information here on the forums.
If submitting a ticket results in an unhelpful response, please reply to it and let the agent know that your issue was not addressed. Do you have the ticket number so we can ensure it is in the correct place to receive a response?
It was lost to the system afaict and the email I got was not helpful at all. And all I can provide is MORE of these 'error' messages (I really do not think the message is of any help because it can, as I've stated, happen AT ANY TIME, and can be doing anything at all.)
Truth is, the ticket I sent in is like you say, 'unable to use them'
Hello, the ticket number should be in the email you received back as a reply, and will be in this format - 000000-000000
An agent will be able to retrieve system information from you that can be forwarded along to our developers in a format where they will be able to use the tools to investigate.
Well, i've crashed 6 times today, there won't be a 7th.
Though in fairness, twice was in Cyrodiil which has been unstable mess since forever.
This kind of performance would be barely acceptable at launch (and only because we have such low expectations of mmo launches), for a game that's been out this long, it is not acceptable.
@AtmaDarkwolf Did you update to the Oct 2 drivers for your Nvidia card? I started getting black screens of death every time I played after updating my drivers - with nothing consistent causing it - so I rolled back to the Sept drivers...so far so good but not a huge sample group yet so I can't guarantee that's fixed it, but may be something to check and see if it gets more stable.
The main problem is that the current server Cant really handle the much use of it.
Best thing would be to have 2 servers for each regions (Na and EU) One for Pvp and IC and other for pve regions, diving the 2 heavy used areas with most use. Atm its like rush traffic, You really dont get anywhere and when you are done it with, you just to get as fast as possible away from it.
drivers all updated, finally got sick of it all and wiped user settings and went default. seems (for now, no promises) to have fixed it, but have had to go and re-do all the settings I had. (This 'fix' confuses me because when this first started that was one of the first things I did, deleted usersettings and allowed the game to remake it, and ran it total vanilla for a while)
It ran without a crash for a few hours in cyro this morning, which is the first time since the patch that I've run for longer than 20min without a crash.
This was happening to me a month or so back, incredibly frustrating. I looked at the known PC issues and I followed the instruction on opening the ports on my modem/router. I never crash now.
Might be worth looking through, fingers crossed you find a resolution too.
If you're using an NVIDIA card, you might want to try installing the hotfix they have out right now. I didn't even know it was the card that was crashing until I was alt-tabbed to my desktop and the error message popped up on the taskbar.
"Display Driver stopped responding and has recovered.
Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, version 358.50 stopped responding and has successfully recovered"
EDITED to add: This doesn't work either. I'm beginning to think it's a bad video driver because I just tried to run LotRO and it did the exact same thing as ESO has been doing: goes to black screen with cursor and music, no picture, then crashes with a video error message. Going to test out SWtOR as soon as it gets done patching (which will be awhile since I haven't played in ages). ....and it worked fine.So not sure if ESO and LotRO are using the same DirectX version or something. Will research more in the morning.
