Different cost of crowns from ESO and Steam

I have 2 accounts, and today I decided to purchase some crowns for both of them. My main account is the physical copy I purchased upon release, and the second account is a Steam account.

I purchased 5500 crowns on my main account for $40 (Australian) and when I purchased 5500 crowns on my other (steam) account, it cost me $55 Australian.

Looking at both receipts I was sent, the ESO account kept its funds as Australian, and the Steam in US funds. This is serious BS!!
How is this fair? Shouldn't all purchases for the same thing be kept the same???

Steam can charge what they like. If they want to make a profit, they will need to charge more than what they pay ZOS to get the Crowns in the first place.

You can buy crowns for your steam account directly via ESO site anyway, can't you ?

You can get the ones for Steam even cheaper from others sites/ebay as well.

Makes me wish I had a steam version of the game.

    Steam hates Australia:

It's something to do with licensing or some tax junk as it was explained to me.

I wouldn't go down that road if I were you. ZOS has recently deactivated/banned an entire range of accounts because they had been bought from unauthorized sites which in turn had bought them in bulks with fraudulent credit cards.
    Same could happen to crowns.
Since there's no way to make profit from crown codes I can only suggest these are bought with fraudulent means of payment and will endanger your account.

I don't think ESO Store Crowns work on the Steam version. At least, I think I remember reading that they didn't.

I went to purchase them as normal from ESO, and it then sent me to my steam account where you pay for them. I just think it's BS. Yes I purchased the game through Steam but that's as far as it goes. If I decide to sub, the payments go to ESO and not Steam, so why should the purchase of Crowns go to Steam?

mmhhh... yeah, tried that too, sends me to Steam account... don't like that...

Must be some special agreement between Bethesda and Valve... always been special, Steam is not a "standard retailer", it's big...

I just went through the motions of making a purchase to see what the story is with this Xsolla crowd, and for about 5 seconds it does mention Xsolla yet it then takes me to the Steam Wallet page. The receipt sent after my initial purchase mentions Steam, not Xsolla.

I still think this is crap, and I won't be purchasing crowns anymore .

The first couple times I bought crowns, I was perplexed as to why I couldn't buy them directly from ZOS website.
I sent in a ticket, asking why I keep getting pushed to steam, they told me it is because I purchased via steam.
It would be nice if we weren't pushed to steam, but businesses will be businesses.

Yet if you Subscribe it goes straight to ZOS not Steam!
