Cyrodil PVE questions?

simo271
simo271
I am veteran rank 10 and coming to the end of Cadwells gold, currently I have not set foot in Cyrodil however I would like to complete the PVE content there after Cadwells gold. My questions are -

1 - I am looking at a complete map of Cyrodil on a website, would I be right in assuming the white symbols are PVE content? Quest hubs ect?

2 - What is the best campaign to join, if any if I am going there solely to PVE?

Any other tips for PVE in Cyrodil would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Simon

Word of advice from a mainly PvPer, home on a campaign that is controlled by your alliance, to minimise risks to you when in the field, many will have no problem killing you.

Sneak, pop detect pots, have magelight on, be aware of your surroundings in Bruma etc, and never forget that you are in a hostile land, ever.

Many complain that they get lit up while trying to quest, dont be that guy ok hehe.

There is a number of ways you can minimise risks while questing as some examples were given above, but as said, never forget that any enemy player you will encounter will in most cases try to kill you, as you are the enemy and a walking bag of AP, which is how I view enemy players generally, rarely will some encounters be ok and you can both wander off, after making it clear to each other you dont want to fight.

When you hand in quests, do it as fast as possible,, and scout the area, some pathetic peeps will actually haunt the PvE hubs looking for easy kills, others will kill you while in travel to keeps, so be aware of whats happening in Cyro at any time, whether they may be battles or sieges going on near you and sneak whenever possible.

Reasons for this being, if e.g I am heading to DC, I pass by Bruma most of the time, so any hostiles in the area I would want dead, I wont care if they are questing or not, battle operations are more important, and securing the area.

    So stay stealthed:P

My advice is - check out your achievements, you have all repeatable cyrodiil quests there and you see which you already finished before. when you abandon the quest the NPC will offer you another one. There is also bunch of quests in Cyro that are not repeatable, these you will have to find on your own or on the web.

    All good advice from Shadow.

Don't skip the Cyro Tutorial, there's a couple skill points in there and that should be enought to get you Rapid Manuvers which will help you get around faster.

Be situationally aware, don't tunnel vision in front of you, know what's around you at all times.
Don't stand in the middle of a field staring at your map lol
If you're hitting the delves, know that if the npcs are gone, someone else is around and you should assume them hostile until you see they are your alliance.
The hardest skyshards to get are the ones behind enemy gates. If you see those gates are open, get them now. You might not have another chance for awhile.

Pvpers are there for one thing, to fight and kill other real live players. Don't take it personally, that's just what they do.

I am the exact same type of player as you my friend. I had he same questions going in to Cyrodiil.

    1. Pick a campaign that has mostly all of your alliance and little to none of the enemy alliances. You can check this by looking at your campaign view - each alliance will have a circular meter that shows the amount of people from each alliance are in that particular campaign. I'm in EP so right now scourge is a good one for me.

    2. Play at off peak hours. I'll log on at 3am on the weekends and hardly come across another soul. My alliance included. This is a good time to collect those skyshards that are deep in enemy territory

    3. Get your horse training speed and endurance maxed out asap. They can't kill what they can't catch!

    4. If you do get killed it's really not a huge deal. Just port back to wayshrine and go to another area.

    5. Profit

Sorry I forgot to answer your question and have more tips.

    1. When looking at the Cyrodiil map, you need to first go in to the filters and check all of the boxes so you can see all icons on the map. It does not show them by default like the other maps do.

    2. Yes the white icons are either going to be delves, dolmens, or towns just like in the PVE areas.

    3. The delves are a lot different in Cyrodiil. Instead of one boss per delve there can be up to 5 bosses that you must kill to clear the delve and get the achievement. This can be frustrating because not all bosses spawn at the same time. Kill one boss and the next boss will randomly generate. Sometimes you have to run around the delve several times to clear all bosses.

    4. There are several towns that have 1 or 2 quest givers that offer repeatable quests. If you complete all quests you get an achievement for clearing that town. These are fast easy XP.

    5. The alliance hub has quest boards similar to the crafting writ boards. Find the one that gives scouting missions. These give alliance points and you don't need to engage in PVP. All you have to do is run to the designated keep and "scout" it then run back to the board for another one. These are also repeatable

    Excellent advice from everybody.

Keeping an eye on your achievements helps. If you can focus on one of the hubs on the same day so you get all quests and complete that hub (you can always come back and do them again, but if you leave without doing a quest or two, the quest givers will not necessarily give you the missing quests right away if you come back later).

When approaching a delve, make sure to sneak and try to kill a minimum of mobs. Anyone going by a delve that sees the outside mobs gone will know there is a player in there. There are usually 2 mobs right at the door that you can't avoid, so if they are dead, be extra cautious. Sneak when going in and out of delves. Enemy player may walk right past you.

And above all, have fun! Cyrodiil is a beautiful zone. And look out for random quests all over the map.

*facepalm* I've been playing since PC launch and I never knew this. Thanks @Asherons_Call you just made my Cyrodiil experience much better! B)

OP: there are lots of good tips in this thread. One other tip that I would add is that Cyrodiil PVE expeditions can be good guild events. If you're in any PVE-oriented guilds, there's a good chance that lots of your guildies haven't done much (if any) PVE stuff in Cyrodiil because they're worried about getting slaughtered there. Try to organize an event where you guys team up to go and do the quest hubs, or the dolmens, or a skyshard run, or the delves, or any combination of those. There is (relative) safety in numbers. As a group you may still run into a zerg, or just some good PVPers who will slaughter you, but you've got more of a fighting chance, and lone gankers are much more likely to leave you alone.

    Haha thought of another one..

    1. You can also get alliance points by porting from keep to keep

Haha glad to help! I had the same problem with the map icons so just passing on the info

Also that is a good idea to get a group together. This will negate any solo enemy alliance players that normally would have hunted you down. Most avoid groups if at all possible

I haven't figured out how to edit but the first sentence above was incomplete. I meant to say you can gain ap by porting from keep to keep repairing any broken walls you find, just buy a repair kit from the seige merchant standing next to the transitus shrine. Easy ap and no PVP required :)

lol the other day I spent all of my AP on wall repair kits and set out to do this. At one keep I was happily repairing walls for quite some time without paying attention and without realizing that the keep was actually under attack (the section of wall I was repairing wasn't being targeted). I moved on to the next section of wall beside the gate, noticed that big red circles were showing up on it, and rushed over to the gate just in time to see the gate breached by a ram... Enemy players swarmed in and killed me before I could properly react.

Let this be a lesson to everyone: pay attention to what's going on around you! You may think you're just peacefully going about your business, but war is everywhere!

I've actually had some fun with this when I happen to be in a keep that is being attacked. I got a couple of flaming oil pots and waited until the enemies had breached the wall and started to run inside, then poured the oil on them. I think I killed a few then I high tailed it out of there. Lol
