What if AREA VOICE CHAT DEFAULT = NO? (just saying, quicker load screens?)

I'm on PS4, and have never cared for the loading screens, but post IC update, it just is ridiculous... like, go make a sandwich or look something up on the interwebs kinda ridiculous.

However, something my friends and I have griped about since day 1 is the VOICE CHAT default setting in ESO. Why does it automatically assume I want to listen to all that garbage????

First, don't other people have families and children, wives... whatever that don't want to listen to any of that noise pollution that you get in say any major town... Riften is horrid... was so happy to not have to go back there, even though its one of the best laid out town maps.

In ESO area chat, I've heard...
- folks scream in mic
- bidding / price arguments
- mothers with baby's screaming in background while the lady was trying to help someone craft something
- kids who turn into the stero-typical annoying timmy
- more bad-music than I care to hear
- countless burps
- a couple of farts
- some GF, wife or significant other yelling at some guy
- several mothers in background yelling at some kid playing
- motorcycles in background
- ambulances and other emergency vehicles
- people playing other games or watching tv in background

So, this got me thinking... if my small group of friends ALL would like ESO to default our chat channel to either OFF or our GUILD and NEVER put us into the area chat channel by default... why haven't they made this an option?

Also, now that we are having all of these increadibly long loading screens, and I tend to hear the voices coming through mic before I ever get control... I wonder if loading screens in general couldn't be improved *IF* by default, they gave us the option to NOT be in area chat on consoles?

I wonder just how much resources are being wasted on AREA CHAT that folks don't even want to be part of???

Anyway, just a thought to kick around...

I would at least like the option to never have that load by default... I mean, if I can select whether i want health bars on or off... and I can select whether I want bags on my mount to show or not... why not give me the option to hear screaming baby or timmie or bad rap music in mic or not? Seems like if even only a fraction of your community took advantage, it would shave valuable resources off of server load, bandwidth and multicast channels or however you are pushing voice...

Hear hear ( or maybe more appropriately no hear, no hear ). The setting to turn voice chat off needs to stay off until you turn it back on. I rarely use voice chat due to the above reasons so ESO pretty much feels like a single player game.

We also need the ability to choose a default channel instead of defaulting to channel 1 of the first guild you joined.

I totally agree. I had forgotten about that. I dropped all my guilds, then rejoined them in the order I wanted, just so it would only default me to the guild channel I wanted. Such a pain... however, I got it fixed.

They spend time addressing the oddest things (new graphics for skill icons, bags on mounts on / off, separating which health bars I see or don't.... etc)

Things like the above would add real value to my experience as a player AND would likely cut down on resources every time I load in, as this guy - WOULD NEVER NEED AREA CHAT ON BY DEFAULT.

They added this option with update 7. Instead of auto putting you into area chat it puts you into the last channel you were in when you logged out. I havent been in area chat since Update 7 was released
