Yep. It's a trial balloon.. But the 7 day "choice" is dumb. All campaigns should be gated AND new, desirable AP items should be made available from Cyrodiil vendors.

It's pretty obvious that they used one of the 7 day campaigns because it's an experiment and they want to see how it goes. Making it a 7 day campaign allows them to do this for the length of the campaign without locking it in for a full 30 days. Clearly they don't want to make a change to a basic campaign function in the middle of that campaign, so they put it on one of the short campaigns.
With that in mind, there's one campaign that is the clear choice for this: keeps. As the gated access is based on keeps, of course you'd want the campaign to be one where scoring is also based on keeps.

While I don't disagree with your assessment, there is really no good reason for me to switch to a 7-day campaign...

I can't wait to see which EP Alliance guilds run over to this Campaign now.

The point is that you can have an effect on the enemy player population in IC by doing some Cyrodiil PVP. That means that you can get your alliance together, take a bunch of keeps, and then run around IC virtually unopposed. That could be appealing, depending on your view.joshdm2001_ESO wrote: »Sure there is: to try the gated access version of IC!It's pretty obvious that they used one of the 7 day campaigns because it's an experiment and they want to see how it goes. Am I missing something? What incentive is there to win gated access, when I can just walk into IC on another campaign? Is this ZOS's attempt to get people back out into CYRODIL? From a player perspective, is the bragging rights of winning gated access that exciting? Or is there something really cool about gated access I'm not seeing?

Well, at 1 PM, it was already half red. DC had 4 players total, AD had 10 and a former EP Emp from Azura's was leading 20 reds on the campaign. Sorry, but I am not gonna be an AP donation on an EP farm campaign. So, less than two hours after it went live, it was killed.

For the first time this month I had a ton of fun in Cyrodiil. This afternoon I went over to "The Axe" and helped my comrades deny an enemy their IC access and we restored access for our alliance. Fighting had meaning and far more people showed up to play today (myself included) who hadn't been playing so much lately.
I don't mind that this is just a 7 day campaign, I don't play for the end of campaign rewards anyways.
