Nb tank advice

Hi

Looking for a bit of advice, im running a Nb tank - 15/32/15 breton - i have tanked all the 4 mans on vet pre imp city and done the 2 new dungeons on normal no issues. The problem i have was when i got to the first boss on vet in the imp cells i kept getting crushed, i felt to weak. Un buffed i have 28k hp and 15k stam and magic - i use food to boost my stats and ran v15 black rose and some hist with footmans rings/neck. My defence is 23k spell resist and 20k physical.

I Watched a few vids and copied but was still getting hit for 30k.

The advice im looking for is more around what people are running in unbuffed stats snd defence?
- bar set up im happy with and im not having to much of an issue with regens, my bars are mainly magic ficused running - piace armour, shades, SA, sap, HF - vail blades bar 2 caltrops, beast taunt, shield charge, blur, vigor - soul tether.

Is magic the way to go or are people running full stam?

Oh im on ps4 so havent had imp city long

IMO magika is the way to go; while unlike Dk, you won't be able to stay alive all by yourself, the offheal provided is amazing and make the healers job way easy, expecially on aoe pulls, plus the dps output is quite decent and very much needed on the new dungeons.
Statwise i suggest around 25k/26k HP, 17k stamina and the rest on magika. As for set, 5 Seducers, 2 Engine and 5 Footman and you will be fine everywhere, just be sure to have siphoning up all the times. An alternative setup that will provide much more dps could be 5 kagrenac's hope, 3 willpower, 2 Engine and 2 willow's path; i didn't try that myself, because i don't have enough cp yet, but i think that it could work pretty well.

    As for bars, i run:
1- Impale, Absorb Magic, Funnel, Siphoning, Pierce Armor, Ice Comet
2- Structured Entropy, Absorb Magic, Sap Essence, Caltrops, Inner Fire, Veil of Blades
For bosses or when you don't need aoe, you can swap sap essence with shadows or something else (i usually put merciless resolve).
Stamina can work good as well, but honestly, you are gonna give up so much utility and i think is not worty.

Well i havent got all the mars to make v16 gear 25k magic and 26k seams a bit out of reach with v15 gear - i tend to use shades alot due to the buff and debuff but alao there attack counts as my light attacks so it regens stam when blocking

    My post in another section:

I run a (currently) Vet 6 magicka based version of this build, have been since console release. I recently equipped 5 pieces Twilight's Embrace(10% extra healing received bonus) crated gear with 4 pieces Seducer crafted gear(2x magicka regen, 1x max magicka bonus) and switched from the Mage(max magicka) the Ritual(10% bonus healing received) mundus stone. I run Swallow Soul on both bars for the 8% healing received bonus from that as well. Throw in CP and armor bonuses to healing received and I'm sitting around 35-38% extra healing received that is from a healer or initiated by myself. I run s/b on both bars with:

    Bar 1:
    Sap essence
    Swallow Soul
    Puncture (group tanking) /Impale (soloing)
    Siphoning Attacks
    Refreshing Path
    Soul Tether or Soul Assault

Bar 2: (I switch up skills in this bar depending on what I'm doing)
    Blur
    Swallow Soul
    Deep Slash
    Degeneration
Darkshades/ or Defensive Stance (the healing morph, I slot this against bosses and dungeons for blocking bonus)

I also sometimes throw in cloak and concealed weapon while soloing.

My attributes are 35 magicka /20 health
    Magicka regen necklace +magicka enchant
2x block cost reduction rings +stam enchant
Infused health glyphs on major armor, divine magicka on minor armor pieces

My stamina only sits at around 10k, but I hardly block due to high healing taken from siphoning skills and with Refreshing Path constantly down I can literally float away from heavy attacks.

blue magicka/stamina regen food combined with the Seducer set and my magicka never depletes therfore I'm constantly healing lol.

I recently switched back to the Mage mundus stone for more offense. Heals differential seem unnoticeable right now.

This being my preference, partly about keeping myself dps viable, I run a general sap tank focusing on stamina. Running footman, black rose junk 2set (working on eng guardian trading black rose out after I get it). 28k health and 26k stamp. So far, outside of a very bad dos ICP try, I have no stamina sustain issues while blocking full time. I am aiming for egg guardian due to magicka issues. Effective enough for all old vet dungeons at v16. No time to test further.

    Bar 1:
    Pierce Armor
    Swallow soul
    Shade
    Sap Essence
    Defensive Posture
Ult: Veil of Blades (defense/regeneration ult)

    Bar 2:
    Heroic Slash
    Razor Caltrops
    Refreshing Path
    Double Take
    Siphoning Attacks
Ult: Aggressive War Horn (I do not have the tank setup built well for dmg. If I don't need a defensive or regent, I pop this instead)

Your HP and resource stats are just fine. You might want to get a bit more resistances though. I'm running a nord with (extra 6% mitigation) 30k HP, ~31k physical and 28k spell resist with Shadow Barrier and I think I'm in a pretty good spot in terms of total survivability. You can check out the build guide I've made (link in my signature). It's a bit outdated after the 2.1 patch, but principles still stand. There's a post on the last page where I wrote about tweaks I made to the build for the patch and what I'm running right now. With the the build and the above stats, I've tanked Veteran White Gold Tower, so the build certainly works well. :)

You might also want to check out the build I've linked in the "tweak" post. It's a Magicka build variant which seems to be really strong in this patch, but if you want a more stamina oriented build (to be able to have a Stamina off-spec for dps for example), you can go with mine.

    Happy tanking!

Thank u will check it out after work, i figured my resistance may be an issue hitting 30k spell and 28k physical with the shadow buff - gives me an idea where to focus as im wearing 5h/1l/1m may seitch back to full heavy

OK so I made myself some new gear and I'm now running:

    5 Heavy - Willows
    1 Light -Song
    1 Medium - Song
    S&B - Song
Rings - Cyrodiils Light (Magicka regen)
Necklace - VR15 Magicka reduction with Magicka on it.

    With tri-stat food:
    32k Health
    18k magicka
    15k Stamina

    Magicka Recovery: 1704
    Health Recovery: 666 (Develish)
    Stamina Recovery: 925

Spell resistance: 17925 (24k with buffs running)
Physical Resistance: 17589 (23k with buffs running)

I've so far tanked VR16 City of Ash and Sewers and that was now a piece of cake. Never run out of resources, pure bliss!
