Hello everyone,
I started playing ESO when it released on PS4. I have a VR16 DK, Sorc, and NB. Since the Imperial City update, I am extremely close to quitting this game. Here's why.
First of all, Imperial City has so much potential. It's such a fantastic idea, the city looks and feels amazing. However, the NPC's honestly ruin it for me. VR16 NPCs every 10 feet, re-spawning every 15 seconds is a bit much. Not to mention the end-game bosses around every corner. This amount of enemies demands group play, which isn't necessarily fair. If I want to play PVP for a half an hour before work, I should be able to. It's hard to find a large group, it takes time. Even more so, I enjoy playing by myself. I like the 1vX mentality, especially on my night blade. Those of us that have VR16s know how long that takes, I used to have the confidence in my build to run solo. This has been diminished.
Secondly, I understand the implementation of the damage reduction. On my DK, I could heavy attack/crushing shock a mounted VR9 and kill him instantly. VR9 is no joke either, that takes a long time to get to that point; it shouldn't be so easy to melt that fast. Hence the damage reduction. But.. 50%?! That is insane. My strength as a player is burst DPS. Target one player, kill, next target, kill, etc. When it takes 3x as long to kill a VR5, this is no longer possible. I understand the Devils Advocate', "Hey man you shouldn't be able to kill a bunch of players at once, it's not fair." My response to that is, if I have invested the time/money/energy/research/play style to be able to destroy a group of 4 or 5, that is fair.
Next, I'd like to talk about the buffs for lower levels entering PVP. This couples with the damage reduction, which turns a small problem into game breaker. You see my trend here; as a VR16 with 250 Champion Points, do you honestly believe it should take me more than a minute to kill a VR2? For those of you VR2s saying, "well hey I want to play too! I want to play PVP without getting ganked constantly!" My response to that is, if you're a VR2 wanting to PVP, run with a group of higher levels that can protect you. A VR2 in Cyrodiil is bait/prey. If you want to be competitive and last long in a fight, maybe you should invest some time into your character. Instead, these lower levels complain to Zenimax, and get a ridiculous blanket in Cyrodiil.
Can you name me one other MMO that punishes their end game players? Trust me - I get it. The goal with this patch is to promote PVP for newer/lower level players. But... what about those of us that have been here from the start? I've played your game, I've borderline mastered it. I've bought all of your new content. Yet, this patch leaves me feeling like I need to depend on others to "get by".
Finally, I don't normally write reviews. I think this actually might be my first; but I love this game so much, and these are common complaints coming from the end game crowd (on PS4 anyway). Instead of quitting like a group of my friends have, I'll at least voice our opinion. Please find a way to balance new player equality and end game veteran strength. Any and all extensions/recommendations regarding the Imperial City DLC are encouraged.
Thanks.
