ESO destroyed an amazing Thornblade PvP community

Until June 2015 one could play 24/7 with other War Council members in great fights and occasional epic battles. It was possible to find full raids in the morning, starting at 06 sometimes, and continue all day, until primetime in the evening and then take ritalin to follow the nightowls who kept going 4-10 more hours.

DC and eXile also deserves credit for making this possible. And the Banana Squad.

All this craziness has now disappeared. WAR is down more or less. The cause? Lack of new content, and when IC finally came players got divided on different campaigns, different platforms and got bogged down in PvE in IC.

I miss the old days.

You obviously weren't there at the time, or you were one of many solo players who hated "zergs". Or perhaps an indifferent PvE gamer?

    Ah, good news!

Made TB my home campaign and noticed that WAR was almost dead there, so assumed the same had continued to happen on Azura. EP is still split though. WAR on TB and Necrotic Lag, with many old-timers from WAR, on Azura.

All things considered I prefer queus and meteor lag instead of having a PvP community splintred to pieces.

    It's not particularly funny.
What's funny is that Imperial City wasn't supposed to be a 24/7 grind thing.
You were supposed to have to fight for access, bringing you in and out of the city. They shot themselves in the foot by making it openly accessibly. And as a result killed the novelty of it much faster than it should've happened.

Now That I can agree with. I said all along that open access was the worst case scenario for IC.
You can thank all the entitled people threatening lawsuits on the pts threads for this one. That and the zergs they're all now complaining about.

That's what happen when developers cave in to the "communities" wishes without seeing the bigger picture. The way I see things is that IC has an inherent flaw, and that is how gear is handed out. You can only purchase and craft you own gear only IF you have access to IC, which will cause some major imbalances because people are drawn to the alliance that wins the most. Right now that doesn't matter much since everyone has access. I spent about 12 hours on the PTS after which I saw the lack of content, and canned my sub.

The other issue with IC right now is that it's a huge zerg fest. If you don't zerg you're toast, which is no fun at all and certainly not the intention ZOS had for IC (allegedly).

Theres only one campaign with cyrodiil PvP. Rest is cluttered with pve trash and wannabe emps. The queue for azura is ridiculous.

Need people to start using the other campaigns, its hard to motivate yourself to cyrodiil pvp on the rest because even if you go to an enemy buff camp, everyone might be in the sewers and get no action.

Azura Star on PC EU is the new Thornblade. Always poplocked, huge queues, and all the former Thornblade members play there, including me.
IC is now more or less deserted,

This is music to my ears... seriously disappointed about IC and the lack of PvP in it. Only way to get a bit of solo action PvP in there is to play an NB, and even then it's pretty meh.

Can't wait for Cyrodiil action to pick up again.

Regardless of it being a zerg fest, most people who played on Thorn knew each other and it was EU's major campaign.

So yeah i guess it had a community if you compare it to the non factor campaigns.l

ZOS does A: Why do they refuse to listen to the community regarding design decisions
ZOS does B: Why do they listen to people complaining instead of sticking with design decisions

    Funny how that works.

No one who has been to Azura's IC would say that. The Memorial district is the go to place for PvE and PvP in one beautiful cluster**** that never ends. The layout allows it to basically be a PvP arena where anyone can join as they wish. A whole week so far of nonstop playing an it's as intense as when I started. Whenever one faction starts dominating, they hit a wall when dealing with enemy factions who can strike them from the safety of their roofs, and bosses that specialize in crowd control. No factions holds the advantage for long, and the other sides are quick to join the fight once the battle evens out again. It's like Cyrodiil at peak time without all the riding...and riding...and riding...and riding.

First of all, WAR was a great community, unless you are a solo player who thinks a raid of 16 -24 people are the root of almost all evil in Cyrodiil. I respect solo players, like Warbow, even the gankers who kill me. See no reason to express contempt toward those who prefer a different playstyle than mine. ESO is big enough for both gankers and "zergs".

IC is really good if you have a group of 4-8 good players in the districts. That can be a rush, with attacks from monsters, AD and DC.

It was cool, however, to log on and always know that other WAR members were ready to fight for emperorship, and that DC players were as addicted to the game as we were.

So far that was my best gaming experience since BF 1942 revolutionized online gaming. But that's just me.
