Why does Zenimax hate the sorc?

First of all, with the new patch, my spell damage went from 2800 to 2000 flat in PvE (it's 1400 in Cyrodiil unbuffed, but I'll get to that later). Another thing that pissed me off is that they nerfed dark conversion from a channeling ability to a 1 second cast ability, which restores about 60% less magicka and health. Finally, the wards are USELESS in PvP. They maybe absorb 5k points of damage even with my 39 champion points in bastion. The classes were balanced enough before the patch. If they wanted fights to last longer, just increase everyone's max health by a lot, but it was so stupid to nerf everyone's damage. Thanks ZoS. Sorcs hate you now

    Alright,

    a) Spell damage is not a Sorc thing. It applies to every class. The set bonuses were nerfed but with new set bonuses and enchants you can get it as high again
    b) Wards were nerfed in PvP along with damage and heals so, it's relatively balanced.
    c) Damage nerfs indeed were a bit too much, but at least they are even across the board.

Sorcs are more than fine in PvP. My only gripe is the brainless shield breaker set they introduced. I would have preferred a decent direct heal and the removal of shieldstacking personally.

Zenimax does not "hate the sorc". They just love the NB.
So play a NB as well and you will enjoy the game again.

Especially the Shield Breaker set is great for killing sorcs

I agree would much prefer to have a decent heal and not rely on shield stacking tbh. Either replace hardened ward with a knock back ability (similar to templars javelin) and then buff the health you get from dark conversion and remove the mag/stam you get from it.

I play a dps sorc as my main and have a NB alt on the side. I can definately tell the damage difference on my sorc in pve. I wouldn't be caught trying pvp in this game in the first place , so I can't speak to how it affected that aspect of gameplay. To me it feels like my NB does more damage than it did before but sorc , big diffference. Top that off with the crap magica regen and makes me wanna switch over to the nighblade as my new main char.

You really don't need 20k health unbuffed.

You put 10 attribute points in health, slot Strucktured Entrophy on both bars, choose a home campaign that buffs you well, eat magicka/health food for the extra buff. You should lay around 18-19k this way, and in case your home campaign gets emperorshipt your health will fly to 21-22.

    Don't fight without food buff!

And also, world bosses are designed to be taken out by multiple players, not solo... so they hit hard and can easily kill you.

Provisioning. As a sorc, it should be just as important as woodworking and clothing. You can get provisioning at 50 in about a day. Finding the recipes at your level may require a bit of backtracking.

Get to an altar and reset those attributes. Put everything into magicka.

Fry your enemies before they fry you. You can't do that if you put all your points into health.

Do this, and your enemies will start crying when they see you coming since they know they've seconds left to live.

I've got 32 points in health, still only at 19k. Knows the difficulty levels were raised with the last patch, what amuses me though is the damage out put of mobs 6 levels below. One hit from an npc was wiping 18% of my health (don't ask which skill as I did not take much notice).
Decided to venture into Craglorn with a build i'd seen on youtube. The player was clearing delves solo with the build. I died 5 times to mobs lol. Could not sustain magicka enough, even after following the guide. Going to take a while to get up with the changes & correct builds.

I have to solo everything except group dungeons in silver and gold zone so far. And I have to rely on drink also. And some ppl told me I need around 20k to do end game dungeons. Didn't they cancel the pvp buffs outside campaign?

It's actually easier to raise spell damage in the latest patch, you just need to wait till you have v16 gear. Just upgrading my 2 piece torug's pact to v16 gave me another ~150 spell damage somehow. My jewellery glyphs are regen/regen/spell damage and I have 2.8k spell damage buffed (major sorcery), and then nearly 3k with the Continuous Attack passive from capturing a resource. It's also worth trying to make use of the Expert Mage passive, from Storm Calling I think. It applies to all sorc skills, not just Storm Calling. It will increase both your spell and weapon damage by 2% for every sorc skill you slot. You have 6 slots on each bar so this passive will raise your spell damage by a maximum of 12% if you cram sorc skills onto your dps bar. For example my dps bar is curse/wrath/frags/surge/streak/atro, bingo 12% boost to weapon and spell damage.

With about 20cp in arcanist and the atronach mundus my regen is nearly 1.9k, going upto over 2k when I drink a potion.

Dark Conversion will still restore your whole magicka pool without draining your whole stamina pool, it just takes a bit longer, but then you can now do it running at full speed, so I don't see the problem.

Hardened Ward I kind of agree with you on. Mine is 9k in cyrodiil which is just about big enough, but I have 77cp in the bastion. If you're a player with less cp then you will find Hardened Ward to be weak in pvp.

Hmm, this, I heard many ppl put every point into magicka. Also some ppl said 20k health was need in end game dungeons.
I couldn't leave drink atm. Using 5 piece v12 warlock set and 2 heavy + 3 jewelry soulshine set. Doing fine outside group dungeons and that boss. Well, haven't tried those end game dungeons yet.

End game dungeons are going to be tough no matter what you have and no amount of health is going to make a difference. If you can't take out the mobs, you're dead anyway.

Spells are leveled to magicka. The less magicka you have, the less damage you have. As the saying goes, "better offense beats a better defense". It's true in this game.

If you can control the mobs, health is moot, especially with provisioning.

Also, don't do the drinks. Worthless except to help level provisioning. Once you hit 50, put everything into food. Extra servings and extra time. Trust me. It helps and you can use those precious attribute points to magicka. Finding the blue recipes will be the difficult part in changing your character since it's going to require significant time to find them.

Not to brag, but I've been playing this way with my sorc since day 1 and I have no issues with health. I wanted power, not safety.

Throw in CP points, and well, end game dungeons will be tough, but doable. :)

Sorcs were weak before the latest patch, and possibly they are even weaker now. I've given up on PvP. Not only is my main char a sorcerer, but my video and telecommunications are so slow that I have about 0.5 sec lag at the best of time, and that's on the minimum graphics resolution.

During the heavy use hours at my ISP (roughly 5-12 pm with a 7-10 pm spike), my lag goes to 1 sec to 2 sec to ridiculous to 2 sec to 1 sec and back to playable after midnight. PvP is, hence, out of the question. I've been on gathering trips where I got to a resource node a second ahead of my visible competition, was kneeling to gather it before the other guy arrived, and then got the [CLUNK] sound and the message "Someone else is using that," and then the other guy got there and took the void bloom or whatever it was right before my eyes.

So PvP is out of the question. I just can't react in a fight well enough to play. If my character was strong enough to take some hits, and had spell attacks that could actually kill somebody before they could get to me, then MAYBE. But, as it is, no way. I'm useless in Cyrodiil. I'm useless in Dragonstar Arena. Because in those places I have prime time lag even when it isn't prime time.

So I craft, cooking for profit and crafting for whomever asks. I can't do nirnhoned and probably never will. But I have all of the other traits, and I do master work in all the equipment trades. During the wee hours of the morning, when my game is the quickest, I fight monsters in Craglorn: welwa for hides and the daedra in Shada's Tear just because they're fun to kill. And I'm a Belkarth Acrobat, finding ways to get around the plaza there with jump and streak, without touching the ground.

Oh btw i lol at nb being loved by zos comments pretty hard. Seems nobody remember nb in 1.5 and before and how much they sucked. Even today ppl think nbs are gods but most people have nb as their most killed class on their codex.

They introduce a set to counter the shielding, streaking dps Sorcs so people have to sacrifice their build to counter yours and you're complaining?

Tough life. People complain about dark cloak, pop aoe or potion. Don't need to adjust your build.

The nerf to wards is so much worse than the nerf to heals.

A Templar, for example, can still heal himself to FULL health, albeit more slowly than before. The Sorcerer, on the other hand, can NEVER refresh her shield to the FULL amount... she's always going to hobbled with a half-strength shield!

ZOS re-designed the Sorc with Update 1.6 so that the Ward, for all intents and purpose, IS out health bar. Now that health bar is cut in HALF with Update 2.1, but no alternative means of survival has been provided. This is NOT balanced.
