Argonians, we all know their racials are a little rubbish, so why on earth did zenimax put them in game/give them such rubbish passives,

given that i am so tempted to roll one just for the hell of it, on the strength that eveywhere i go on forums i se lots of posts about racial passives which class to take for what damage etc etc.

When i first started WOW many years ago i rolled a troll rogue just coz hardly anyone else did, and stuck with him for 5 years.

Will i be seriously hurt in doing so?

OK, while Racial Passives can help certain classes and builds, its not going to make all that much of a difference, unless your in the Min/Max crowd.

Outside of chasing top times in Trials and certain PvP (1v1 or 1vFew) situations, any build can be made to work in this game. Some will be more challenging than others, some will be an easy button. But a non optimal Racial Choice is not the reason you will be killed. Skill Rotations and to a certain extent, gear is far more important. And, with gear, its more the set bonuses you have than the level of the gear, within reason.

I have an Imperial Magic based Dragon Knight in Heavy Armor and he does just fine.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I love my argonian templar healer. No, he will never be the best, most-uber spellcaster user in the game, but he still gets by in vet dungeons and PvP. Unless you're really concerned with min-maxing every aspect of your character you should play what you like to play and have fun with it.

It depends on what your goals are. As Nestor said you can do fine if you're not in the min/max crowd or want to 1vx everybody. You may have to find a like-minded guild for group dungeons and such. For the bulk of the game tho, it won't be an issue.

One of mine is an Argonian Templar, btw. V15 atm.

I know what i want to do but am so bewildered by the scope of choices that even though i've been playing for a long time (casual) i've never got a character past lvl 11,
i want to play an orc/argonian with 2 hander/bow with heavy armour, but know there wont be much synergy in that set up,
but it's what i like the idea of the most, i'm not a caster player more of a rogue BUT the NB just doesn't seem right,

i've read ppl say racials don't mean much but when you look deeper most guides more or less tell you what to play race wise.

    Goals...now there's a word over used :)
my goals as the same as most is to deal damage and survive, every class/player has do deal damage no matter their roll (for leveling anyway) in order to get anywhere

ESO is a very skill based game. You can have the ebst egar and passives in the game, but if you lack skill, you won't survive long.

My main is an Argonian Templar Healer and I don't have any troubles with him. Grant it while their racial passives aren't min/max'y like a Bretons would be, I have enjoyed the challenge of playing a race that doesn't have passives that benefit your resource pull. I have a breton templar healer that I play the same exact way as the argonian and to be honest, I don't notice that much of a difference in resource management. All depends on how you want to play the game!

Min/Maxers will tell you what race to play based on numbers. Everyone else will tell you to play what race you want because that is how you will enjoy the game the most. Not crapping on min/maxers at all. That is a valid play style and in the end who cares but yourself how you play. I say, you want an argonian archer go for it!

Another way to look at it is races like argonian could be considered the most versatile race since they don't have any passives drawing you toward one resource over the other. Besides their extra xp gain in resto staff. But other than that, you can go lore friendly and make an argonian archer nb assasin who was born under the sign of sithis for the upcoming Dark Brotherhood expansion ;)

It's when i look at the imp passives and think an extra 12% health and 10% stamina and a 10% chance of health back with each hit are very good stats if you're max lvl.

You can't argue that they are very good stats.

But they don't help me with Magic.....

Imperial does have some good base racial passives, but only if your Stamina Based or a Tank (which I do some Tanking on my Imp Dragon Knight) do they really help you. But I am definitely playing against type with that character. Heck, I tank more with my Breton Sorcerer on Light Armor or my Altmer Templar than I do with my Imperial.

I've min-max'd the crap out of my Imperial and I miss my Argonian from PC. Things just aren't the same without Farts-With-Purpose.

Also in practice FWP was easily 95% as good as my Imperial. Sure it matters but only a little. It's like the difference between dying after 4.3 hits instead of 4.5 hits.

I don't know man. Sounds like you have a hard time making decisions ;) You are going to get such a broad range of opinioins about argonians from people who play an argonian and love them such as myself, to people who have never played one because they can basically only swim faster...

If you want to play an argonian, I can tell you mine can heal his @$$ off through dungeons and he hits like a truck. I imagine if I had built him to play with a 2 hander and a bow, he would do just as much damage if not more

Don't make the regretful decision of choosing a bad race. Many of us have and wish that we hadn't. It isn't worth it. Don't do it. Play a top tier race.

I play a bosmer NB Archer. Not for the passives as much as the lore for the bosmer's being the best archers int game. the build I am doing is a support dps. with heal and buff support on top of damage. I did this because my favorite all time character was my archon mage from rift and the archer over a mage like build because Archer was the first ever class i played in an MMO. I like the AD so my choices were imperial, high elf, wood elf, or kajhit. I prefer the look of the bosmer and the fact that i can make it super short. if I had the adventure pack I might have made the archer as an argonian but I don't and I prfer the AD story line
