Time Trials: Nobody wants to do them. Nobody.

As always, this post will never get seen and things will just go on as normal. Any plea from the community is consistently ignored.

As leader of a large PvE Guild that has been doing Time Trials pretty much every night since April 2015, it is incredibly sad to see that Trials are dying. It was the only 12-person PvE content worth doing. And not for the loot, because it was fun.

Now people have zero motivation to do Time Trials. Apart from as mentioned by the OP, to deconstruct the Weekly Rewards for Temporing Alloy/Dreugh Wax. There is no usable loot. v16s are not going to use the v12 sets. These sets, Quick Serpent, Defending/Immortal Warrior, Destructive Mage; nobody used them before, nobody will use them now. They are completely useless and not apart of any build (apart from "im having fun" builds).

No experience. Why would people come to train to get a nice leaderboard score when they can't even level up from v12-v16 by doing Time Trials. "Why should I come? I get nothing."

Everyone who actually plays this game, discounting the casuals, is v16. Cmon, that's what people do. They see a max level and they level to it. These Trials are being completed in embarrassingly quick times. Organizing a trial can take 3 times as long as actually running the trial. This is ridiculous.

I prefer the "increase the weekly rewards to v16" at least then people wouldn't get completely, absolutely, aggravatingly useless drops.

PvE Guilds at the moment exist for the sole purpose of doing Daily Silver/Gold. People are already bored with sewer zerging.

People loved Time Trials, was it so incredibly hard to make just ONE more Time Trial ZOS?

Haha, ever since i first loaded up the game in first Beta i found no similarities to Skyrim apart from the title and naming and common theme, neither did I expect it. Now i sometimes forget i play a Elder Scrolls game, just feels like another MMO but with less MMO elements in it lol. Nontheless, it's still fun.

    I agree with you, actually.

When I was a kid I could have hundreds of hours of fun in Need For Speed: Most Wanted just driving around. I never raced any one, never got a new car. I just drove around and I loved it.

It seems that the ESO community (particularly in this thread) feel like they're not playing a game - they're in a job - and their time is only spent well in the game if they achieve a "material" (virtual material?) reward, regardless of whether or not they had fun.

"Leeroy Jenkins" is quite possibly the funniest thing that I have ever seen happen in WoW - did that take "new loot" to make it interesting? No, it was just people having fun. But apparently it's not worth having fun in ESO unless you get good gear at the end of it. I mean, since when have hobbies (like playing video games) been for fun anyway?

Here's a parable. A man takes up fishing as a hobby. He gets the fishing rod, he practices how to fish, and on the weekend he goes to the lake and relaxes in the sun. Sitting in his lawn chair on the lake-side he reads his favorite book, drinks a nice cold beer and has a nap. At the end of the day he packs up his things, goes home, and logs onto the "Fishing Forums" and complains how fishing is a terrible hobby and not worth his time because he didn't catch any fish.

Here's a different version: A man takes up playing video games as a hobby. he buys ESO, levels up so that he can play in PvE with his friends, and on the weekend groups up with his mates to run some dungeons. Running his V16 NB, his group kills all the bosses, jokes around all evening, and have a great time. At the end of the evening he shuts down ESO, logs on to the "ESO forums" and complains how playing video games is a terrible hobby and not worth his time because he didn't get any loot at the end of his evening.

In both scenarios you'd come to the conclusion that the man is perhaps partaking in his hobby for the wrong reasons, and they'd be best off finding a new hobby.

Not every dedicated player is v16.

I play in IC with a lvl 12 (so far) and another who has gone from 16 to 40 over the time I've played him there. Don't care to bring my vet characters here, because I play them as characters and it's not interesting to them.

Never had any character interested in a time trial.

Yes, it has been confirmed. If there is some kind of trial POI on the Orsinium map, a trial will probably added at a later time.

They are phasing out the old trials and basically resetting the game so all platforms can go into the new content fresh.

As like other MMO's out there, you start with basic dungeons to farm the gear to be ready for upcoming raids which will be released in the future. With armor sets released currently and the datamined info from Orsinium, we can assume that both the IC DLC and Orsinium DLC will be a 2-part gearing process to get us ready for an upcoming trial, which they have been in the process of working on for some time now.

The gear you are grinding now should be lasting you through part of Orsinium and into the Thieve's Guild DLC until the new trial which will "most likely" be released then.

Having them scale up current gear from trials or even scale up the trials themselves is the last thing they should do in my opinion.

While I agree that v12 loot (v14 for the weekly) is not that attractive to v16 players, we should keep in mind that veteran ranks will probably disapear after the orsinium patch (at least in the last ESO live it was mentioned that way). This might imply that all the v1-v16 sets will be scaled to the new veteran level I guess. So collecting them now may have its benefits later on.

I'm in a guild that runs trials twice a week for 2 hours each (+ a 3rd training-trials that teaches new players what trials are). We have some more hardcore players who are able to burst things down pretty quickly, though we also have a bunch of ppl who are rather new to DPSing/healing/tanking and we even provide training-trials for those interested. Every once in a while a new member asks if the loot is getting better or what the intent of the whole run is, but as we are talking trash and have a good time while doing trials they often stay in group and even re-join on later trials as well.

Trials are trials, the whole purpose of a trial is to beat someone else and test yourself. You don't always need the reward as an incentive, your reward is your bragging rights. If that wasn't the case, people wouldn't play games like Starcraft, dota and LoL in the hundreds of millions.. Where your only reward is your ranking and your bragging rights and the satisfaction of beating someone elses or your own scores.

Don't know about you, but my notification panel is ALWAYS flooded with guildies doing trials, multiple times a day even, so your definition of dead may not be so correct.

Honestly, we don't do trials to compete against other players - we are doing them as we have fun running this type of content and are also trying to improve ourselfs. If you want to compete against other players, do some PvP - this is where the competition takes place (at least as far as class abilities, gear, champion points and personal skill enables you to be competitive). The only competitive feature in trials is the leaderboard - and after IC only a limited number of ppl are doing them so it is actually not that hard to score onto the leaderboard. Last time Dragonstar arena was weekly, you needed a socre of only 5-6k to actually do the weekly!

Yeah, I'm not sure why they were excluded from the scaling. Perhaps they thought if they made them scale, less people would bother with buying or trying out Imperial City and it's content? Mind you a lot of players did say that they just like doing them for the fun factor lol. But Devs aren't quite players, so who knows!

It´s still outdated and boring content for alot of players. I probably completed each trial at least 300 times. It´s getting really old.

We have to beat ppl into doing trials these days. Because ppl are bored of em. Having a nice leaderboard position is no incentive anymore. Its simply old content most ppl are bored with by now.

We need something new. Something that challenges us again. Something to fizzle about new tactics and improvements. Orsinium gonna be a disappointment aswell. No group content. But Soloplay. A Solo Arena. Exactly what we want in a MMO Title.

I reached a point shortly after IC, when it gets harder and harder every day to get myself to log into the game. If it wasnt for my friends and guild, I already would have called it a day.

IC wasnt great either. But thats a topic for another time.

I understand this feeling and I'm sure many others do. This game is still changing a lot with major updates and many changes we want can't come fast enough. But in the meantime, all we can really do is wait and word battle. :x
