To convert stamblade Imperial to magicka...

I'm solo Pve with no groups...please remember that:

So,
I'm slowing grinding out different morphs on 2H, which alleviates the lack of vigor & caltrops & bone shield I have with my beloved & sorely missed DW.
I was already maxed in 2H from earlier adventures, just wrong morphs as I've learned on here.
Mostly this is Cyro, as the 1,000's of deaths I cause in Craglorn give little or no increase to skills like Cyro does. I do enjoy the challenges of attempting the lesser group content solo though, just no rewards for success or effort.
I'm maxed in all BUT: Alliance skill trees, Undaunted, Destruction & Restoration staffs, and only level 12 as a thief.

Is there a REALISTIC chance I could embark on training destro/resto staffs (& magic in general), presently at just 10 & 1 respectively?
Clearly I couldn't build them against high level opposition, so if it's realistically possible, where would I go to grind?

IC drops for me tomorrow, and I embrace the grind as it's part of adventuring, although more quests would be nicer.
But can I take this little squishy through the magic realm, or is it too difficult from my present VR14 (probably 15 when the patch drops).
I'm not asking to be THE high elf wizard of doom & desecration...just can the progression be made so late in the game solo?

Cheers.

I'm a bosmer nb and am trying it as well.

    Weapons not wanted...again.

When weapons are to be buffed, I hope zos do a measured but not reactive response.

It is never too late. Just use class skills that you already have maxed out.

Thanks but that confuses me mate.
I don't see how my melee skills will aid me build magic defence & offence tree skills?

I'm not being difficult, I'm just ignorant of the transition...

You just need to have the weapon equiped and gain xp (through killing and/or quests) to build up the skill line. Once you unlock an ability, slot it on your bar. Even if you won't/don't/can't use it, the skill line will lvl up faster.

For example: equip resto staff but use surprise attacke or concealed weapon as your main damage move. Slot Grand Healing on your bar when you get it but keep using surprise/concealed.

    Ah of course.
    Thanks.
I really should've had caffeine this morning before reading your post. Stupid old man. Of course I knew that.
I assume (correctly?) if I USE a staff they will increase faster also?
I'm not at all certain I'm interested in the magic line at all, but then, I never thought I'd be anything but a s&b until I played ESO so...

It doesn't matter what you use.

What matters is what is on your bar/equipped when a mob dies or when you turn in quests. Using staff doesn't matter.

Have one weapon on one bar. Attack a few times with it, but don't kill anything. Than swap bars, don't use the weapon, and kill all the mobs with your skills on that bar. You will see that the weapon you attacked with did no level at all, but the weapon line you didn't actually attack with did level. All that matters is what is active when something dies or you turn in quests.

I am actually not sure of details such as if you have an DOT from bar 1, you switch to bar 2, don't do anything, and then the enemy dies. You might get the XP on the first bar, not the second, in that case. Maybe someone else knows.

@Swindy if i understand correctly, you want to level destro/resto staff ?

    2 solutions :
    1. Equip on a second bar one of those staffs, slot all the abilities you already have on this tree, and slot even more when you have new. craft a training trait staff. go grind undeads and bandits in cyro.
    2. play as usual, but when you have an XP check point (when you complete a mission), just equip your crafted training trait staff and abilities on your bar, unequip them after that, keep playing as usual

First technik is faster but more risky, second is slower but very safe
