Dark Elf DK Stamina or Magic based "bruiser" build help.

Hey guys,

Im pretty new to the game. I bought the Imperial edition at launch only played a little bit as my computer was crapping out on me. Well im back now. I have a level 25 Dark Elf DK. I dont really want to go full tank, or full DPS, somewhere in te middle. Im trying to level up currently but end game I am more focused on a PVP style build. Is Magic or Stamina based better for this? I open to either, and open to any sort of weapon (dual wield, 2H, Bow, Shield).

Some ideas for abilities and weapon choices would be very helpful. Same with Medium vs Heavy armor.

Sorry for the vague question, im just really unsure which direction to go. I don't have time to dedicate a ton of time to the game so I am looking for a "noob" good build. One that isn't crazy intensive to learn and practice, but still able to get a few kills and not get demolished immediately every time I pvp. The game has changed a ton since launch so this is why I am torn on what direction to head.

Thank you!

DUde, your a Dark Elf DK? You need to go Magicka. You have a 7% increased fire damage passive that must be used. If you want to be tanky as well then you do a heavy armor Magicka build. Lava Whip FTW.

Ok, so magic it is. What would a good spell bar look like besides lava whip? What kind of weapon should I carry?

Should I even bother having a stamina based weapon spell? Or just lava whip and some cc?

    Thank you!

I thought I heard magic DK's got nerfed a ton, which is why I was wondering about stamina

Don't buy into the whole your a dark elf you have to play magic. Yes you have the 9% extra magic but you also get 6% extra stamina. The whole 7% extra fire damage is misleading because most players think fire staff synergy, but it applies to all fire damage, skills, enchantments, and dots. Stamina requires a fair bit of magic use and I've found that with the right setup you can take better advantage of your extra fire damage because you are not reliant on a projectile to apply the damage. DK class in general has a ton of melee range skills, this is a determining factor for me, and a lot of CC skills that will put you right in the heart of combat. It is not always the best place to be as a light armor staff wielding magic user. The dk has some great defensive skills so you can do it, but it will not be as clear cut as, "oh your a dark elf dk, you gotta play magic".

Don't get me wrong, dark elf magic dk is strong but stamina is certainly an option. For me stam dk is the only way to play the class as most every one of your class skill require you to be melee range. Put that with the amazing defensive skills and awesome CC, and you can be in the heart of battle and in command instead of fighting for your life. Whatever you choose magic or stamina, you can build a very strong class, dk is an amazing class to play once you learn some vital mechanics.

    Bump.

I'd still like some help with must have skills, weapon sets, and should I have any weapon abilities in my bar? Or just stick with all mana based?

Since you mentioned pvp and being a tank in your original post I like:

    DPS bar: dual wield/ pve

    2. Steel tornado
    3. Flying dagger
    4. Ingenious shield
    5. Green dragon blood
    Ultimate: Flawless dawnbreaker

    Defense bar: 1 hand & shield/pve
    1. Invasion
    2. Unstable flame/burning embers
    3. Engulfing flame/ stamina morph for engulfing flame (can't remember the name)
    4. Choking talons/ Eruption
    5. Spiked armor/immovable/ inhale
    Ultimate: standard of might

    Dps bar: 2 hand/pvp
    1. Critical rush
    2. Wrecking blow
    3. Executioner
    4. Ingenious shield
    5. Rally

    Defensive bar: 1 hand & shield/pvp
    1.vigor

    3. Stamina morph for engulfing flame
    4. Eruption
    5. Reflective scale/defensive posture

The way the dark elf passive reads is 7% increased spell dmg with fire effects. Is that applicable to a stamina build? If so i may reroll mine from magika to stamina. Basically what im asking is are the stamina morphs considered spells still?

This...... on the way in to work I realized I had a lvl 42 Dunmer mag DK that I don't like playing anymore. I have had the hardest time rolling a new stam dk mainly due to the fact that I just rolled a Stan NB to V1 in a couple weeks and now I'm working on my stamplar (lvl 30) so instead of trying to get a brand new character lvld up by DB why not switch my mag dk that I don't play to a stam dk.

I know a Dunmer StamDK won't be as good as a redguard but I think the extra magic will be helpful and the flam resist will help if I go Vamp which I might.

Dunmer is the best race for magicka DK but stam DK also works.

If you would compared dmg between a Dunmer stam DK and a Dunmer magicka DK I think the stam DK would win 9/10 times.
