...someone in Banished Cells said that I should have went Dragon Knight.

That came from the fact that we had two Templars (one of them being me). My Templar, while only Level 10, is Level 15+ on my main three powers, Two-Handed, One-Hand & Shield, Restoration Staff, Bow, Dual Wield, Light Armor, Medium Armor, Heavy Armor, and even my Soul Trap is Level 3, amongst other things being Leveled. Since the other Templar had some tank stuff and lower healing stuff, they all suggested that I tank.

Switching over to all Heavy Armor stuff, as well as One-Hand & Shield (I main Two-Handed), and two healer powers, I was able to keep all mobs on me just by spamming Puncture and healing myself. Having successfully completing the dungeon, they mentioned it again about me going Dragon Knight, but they couldn't really give me any information on it outside of it being a better tank than Templar, since Templar is potent at main healing.

Have any of you went from being a Templar tank to a Dragon Knight tank and enjoyed it? And if so, what can I expect differently? As a Templar, I originally tried to be a DPS with healing powers, but now, I'm considering Templar tank with healing powers.

Try your current build don't worry about what some guy said. DK is awesome for a tank but I'm sure templar is too. The reason i say DK is awesome is they can reflect projectiles, have armor/spell resistance buffs, damage shield that boosts your healing, a self heal that boosts stamina regen, an ultimate that prevents a large amount of incoming damage, and resource regain on casting an ultimate

Coming from Final Fantasy XIV, I liked PLD more there as I really couldn't survive well as a WAR. This is good news.

    Hmm!

I don't have any friends who play, let alone any healer buddies in-game, which was another reason why I began Templar. I won't be focusing PvP, so I'm eye-balling PvE stuff.

When I first started the game, I was a Nightblade. Every time I got into a dungeon, there would never be a Templar or anyone else for that matter, to heal us.

I had began to level Restoration Staff, so it was pretty awkward to effectively heal a dungeon as a Nightblade using a Restoration staff and wearing some Light Armor, with Light Armor passives lol...

Since I was healing more on Nightblade than DPS'ing, I deleted her and started Templar to become a healer.

    I have a Templar tank (V7) and a DK tank (38)

There are advantages and disadvantages to each of them, so keep the one you like playing.

I have friends who have both at max level and they enjoy playing both.

I also have a Nightblade and a Sorc who are pretty good healers.

Gamers are lazy. They want every person to have a single job so they don't have to think much about their own. A sorcerer wants a templar to be heal spam on a dragon knight tank so he doesn't have to worry about aggro or healing himself while the nightblade drags the scary things off him to the tank.

Yet the game is created in a way that allows for everyone to be a tank or everyone to be a self-healing sorcerer. All that remains is how combat gets balanced and too often developers see the purist methods as being popular and end up making content only they can reasonably complete.

Kind of like how great mechanics get nerfed because people abuse them, this is a direct result of how players play a game. The only way to ever fix this stereotype is by we the players not giving into it in the first place. Stick to your Frankenstein builds.

    I'm sad!

I main Two-Handed, and the shield I get from {Brawler}, and the damage debuff to mobs from {Dizzying Swing} has helped me. Do these two abilities not assist with how much a healer need to heal me for? Please advise.

As a Templar tank, I can say we tank differently than Dragonknights. I have tanked almost all Veteran dungeons (not Imperial Prison or White-Gold Tower) as well as Aetherian Archive and Hel Ra Citadel (Trials). I have enough regeneration to last without the healer focusing on me, and being a Templar those survival skills also buff the party. Dragonknights have more direct ways of tanking, with area of effect roots (Dark Talons) and more ways to reduce damage (Magma Armor ultimate) but very few of their abilities benefit anyone besides the caster.

Dragonknights can tank the same stuff Templars can, just in different ways.

Although you can play any class to tank... It is by far a better choice as DK. You will get to end game and have to do some pretty difficult content and thats where the difference will shine. Nothing wrong with playing templar as a tank but end game you prob wont have a grp for long... now in PvP on the other hand templar tanks can be dominating so i guess it bpils down to what your preferences are.

Its because you're only level 10.. Once you unlock more skills and acquire better gear, you will most definitely be able to be a Templar Healer/DPS.

1 to vr14/(16 with imperial city) is basically.... build for fast level gains - once you hit lv cap... get skyshards. .. lore books... kill daedra n dolmens... clear caves delves n dungeons.. then build and tweak your account to be good at what you want it to be good at... making sure to lv skills appropriately along the way. 10fg 10mg ..50med 50heavy 50light etc etc... I love max customisation.

Sounds like you really, really need to change... the people you run dungeons with!

Yes, DKs make better tanks, for reasons already mentioned. But templars make neat tanks too, between heavy armor and selfheals. If it works... run with it. And most combinations can be made to work in ESO...

If you have fun, keep on playing that way.

If you get curious, roll up a DK alt and see how that works for you. Heck, some people are altaholic enough to try every class, both in stamina and in magica build...

Whatever is most enjoyable for you.

It's clear you want to be a healer so stick with that. Let no one sway you just because they "claim" it's better. What is best for one person is not the best for everyone. If your play style is being a healer then by all means be a healer in the best way you know you can!

P.S. Templar is the only class with a lot of healing options from their Class Skills. The following Class Skills from other classes than Templar have healing associated to them though (hope this helps you):

    Dragonknight:
    - Flame Lash (Lava Whip morph, drain attack)
    - Dragon Blood and Morphs (main Class Healing Skill)
    - Burning Heart (a Passive that increases healing received while a Draconic Power skill such as Dragon Blood is active, worth a mention...)
    - Igneous Shield (Obsidian Shield morph, a mention like Burning Heart for granting you an increased 30% healing received for 7 seconds after use)
    - Battle Roar (another Passive that restores all 3 resources a bit when using an Ultimate)

    Sorcerer:
    - Unstable Clannfear (Unstable Familiar morph, regain up to 33% of your max health if the Clannfear dies or is unsummoned)
    - Twilight Matriarch (Heals you while it is alive if your health drops below 35% of its maximum with a 30-second timer between heals)
    - Dark Exchange and Morphs (restores Health at the expense of Magicka or Stamina depending on morph as well as whichever resource it didn't drain)
    - Blood Magic (a Passive that heals a bit of Health when hitting an enemy with a Dark Magic skill)

    Nightblade:
    - Killer's Blade (Assassin's Blade morph, heals a portion of your Health if target enemy dies within 2 seconds of using this on them)
    - Mark Target and morphs (restores a bunch of Health if an enemy you have marked is slain with the morph Reaper's Mark giving even more)
    - Consuming Darkness and morphs (Doesn't heal you but its Synergy heals allies)
    - Refreshing Path (Path of Darkness morph, gradually heals you and any allies standing on the path while it is active, even NPCs and Summons)
    - Soul Shred and morphs (Soul Siphon boosts healing nearby allies receive, but only these abilities' Synergy abilities heal)
    - Strife and morphs (Drain attack that grants you healing over time plus Funnel Health grants this to 2 nearby allies as well and Swallow Soul increases healing you receive just by having it slotted)
    - Leeching Strikes (Siphoning Strikes morph that heals a small portion of your Health by simply using Basic Attacks, aka Light and Heavy Attacks)
    - Sap Essence (Drain Power morph that heals nearby allies for each enemy you hit with this AoE attack)
    - Soul Siphoner (a Passive worth mentioning as it increases the effects of healing done by you by 2%/3% at rank 1/2 for each Siphoning Skill slotted)

Then you haven't come across any decent Templar tanks, because a well spec'd and well played Templar tank hardly needs to be healed at all if they're doing it right. Which leaves you the healer free to look after the rest of the team.

But anyway, OP if you want o DPS/Heal on Templar then do it, as stated here Templars have far more healing options than other classes, not only do you have the resto staff lines you also have restoring light which is a dedicated healing/buffing skill set that other classes don't have.
