This game is free to play... Seriously.

It's pretty awesome when you reflect on it.

While that may be true, I'm certain that a lot of decisions in regards to future content and updates are centered around how to drive more revenue in the Crown Store. Just my two cents.

It is buy to pay now, with a money store. Guild Wars 2 did it many years before.
This post will not take you an unusually long time to read.

The more I reflect on it, the more I wish that it was sub-to-play again.

I play for free now because there's nothing else on the market that is really drawing me away right now, not necessarily because I like where this game is going.

All I know is I've been playing since Beta and I still haven't even come close to finishing the free content.

Some times it amazes me how awesome stuff can be! Especially ES and FO stuff!

Free to play. Free from new content for a year as well (unless you like PvP). I guess you get what you pay for.

I dunnoh man... I leveled pretty much all the VR levels in PVP. I took breaks now and then to enjoy the PVE too though. Going back into the PVE Realm is always a lot of awesome.

If you think this game has a lot of content you've never played any other Bethesda TES games. This games Content is *** compared to even Skyrim. You can blaze through every single bit of content in ESO in less then 3 months. And then there is nothing left to do.

Skyrim on the other hand you can play for years and still not do "Everything".

The 2 games are not even remotely comparative where RP, and Immersion, and content are concerned.

ESO doesn;t even have all the guilds, or Spell Crafting, or even the other areas which were promised to be in before release, and or slightly afterwords. 2 years later the only thing thats been actually added to game is a small section of cyrodil called The Imperial city which is just a small content patch.

This game is going down the drain, ZOS know it and have abandoned it, probably to work on Fallout Online or something. And hopefully.... Not *** it up like they did ESO.

Yeah, if you like PvP and only use PvE as a distraction I could see that. For those who don't like PvP and have already leveled 3+ characters to max through all those vet levels..and dealing with the absence of adequate content to level through for the last 4 vet levels it's another story.

The current solo content fizzles out between v10-v12 leaving you with subpar group or PvP content to level with. Craglorn requires a group and offers terrible XP gain. Dungeons also require a group and offers terrible XP gain. Trials require a group and offers terrible XP gain. IC requires a group and is PvP not PvE. Grinding is not content and has been nerfed to the point of not being worth the time. Solo quests run out around v10. 6 vet levels is an absurd amount of XP to get considering the lack of XP options beyond v10. Maybe it's better now with the IC changes to vet level XP requirements but there still isn't content.

I became all powerful in Skyrim after ~100 hours and it didn't seem fun anymore. I still play Oblivion once in a while though. Skyrim had a lot of WHOA! WTF! moments though as usual for any Bethesda gam and I should probably go back there to reminisce? and experience all the new I never got to. So I agree with you there.

I feel very immersed when I'm in game in ESO, I dunnoh why your experiencing difficulty there. I agree with you on some of the MP aspects however, it seems they were attempting to hybridize the experiences to some extent and it may still require some "ironing out" so to say. Spell Crafting was really interesting. I created some really awesome magic back in Oblivion. It took a lot of work though collecting and saving all those ingredients to ever consider it possible though. The Lagardo Man skill line seems a good start for the Thieves Guild don't you agree?

I haven't gotten into the IC yet but maybe someday, so I can't really comment on that.

Fallout Online would be a bad thing. Please just Don't! :)

Thanks for your relevant and insightful post though, Hope I see you in game sometime.

I'll have to take your opinion on this as I didn't go through a lot of the PVE content while leveling through the VR. You sound pretty hard core so I appreciate your thoughts. It's always amazing to me how something like this, and many other games, can actually be real... I mean real as in you can play them.

I've solo'd probably 95% of the game and don't really have any complaints about that experience other than all the bugs in the "early levels" as no doubt, we all did. I sometimes grind when I feel like it... it's something to do I suppose. There's still tons of content on my one and only character to experience and I'm VR15.5 so I dunnoh, maybe I'm too casual?

Anyway... nice to chat with you hope I offered you some of my experience in the exchange. Carry ON! :)

I agree this game is pretty awesome and has lots of content. However this one (and many others) have been playing a long time and have experienced all that content multiple times. So we naturally want more awesome content.

Indeed, and good thing too! Because that means people (and considering who I am talking about here, I use the term loosely) cannot just make any number of new accounts if they get banned for spamming/griefing/gold selling/exploiting/hacking/whatever... they'd have to buy the game again, which makes such activities something to twhink twice about, unlike in fully FtP games.
Yay, ZOS! Whereas in oter games that went FtP I was being bombarded with those annoying "buy cold/credits at..." messages in both yell, zone chat and message, in ESO we are free of this annoyance!

As for the original notion... yeah, ESO is pretty awesome! It was good back when it was subscriptioned, and its been getting better ever since. So what is some sorely desired things are still missing? (cough, barbershop, cough... cough thieves guild & dark brotherhood, cough...) They are coming... "soon™"... ;)

And then the game will even be greater still!
