V16 is Pointless

People are reaching v16 already, so what's the point of the grind? It's going to further the gap between lows and highs, already setting the standard for PvP, and v12/14 gear that people spent months getting rendered useless. Seriously, how is this a good thing? Also, what happened to ZOS switching to a base lvl 50 (just one veteran rank)?

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeell players under v1 get boosted upto V10's stats in PvP, and other stuff like that, so I don't see it being that much of a problem... I see what you mean though.

This part i don't get..maybe its easyer on console lol but i have a vr 14 full yellow healer rocking 5 warlock 5 seducer master (14) healing staff..and i have a vr 9 with all his materials to yellow out his tank gear..

I mean did i miss a mmorpg message..Cause last i knew every time there was a DLC for a game your old gear became OLD and it was time to grind for new gear or set..shrug..and yes once the annouced the xp drop per level and xp boost per quest/zones most people knew it take the same amount of time as grinding 1 vr level..lest on console i should say

The gab between a long term PvP player and a new VET 14 is insane. They really needed to limit the difference of power not make it even bigger making new people joining PvP just spending 90% of the time dead and then respawning.

There's some weird correlation between forcing players to grind new gear only available in the new content and said new contents sales. $$$$ is a good thing (for ZOS of course)

If they are like me, they hit VR15 as soon as they killed a skeever once the update launched. Anyone with a VR14 that they had done something with had points towards VR15. In my case, I had 849,999 points and just needed one point to be VR15. After that, finding 850,000 points worth of mobs is easy. More so if you had an Ambrosia or two.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

This is what im banking on for console lol plan is to have 300 or so for sale on the brokers for those who need the fast 850k xp lol The time window will be so small though then back to crappy sales lol need to make them $$$$ lol

Not easier on console, you just obviously play the crap out the game and grind like grinders of every platform do. I've had the game since release day on Xbox and still haven't hit vr1 :p

They didnt raise the Cap to make you grind out V16. They raised the Cap to allow for gear progression, something that has become more and more stale with the way the game went after 1.6 with no new content added whatsoever.
Also I believe they want previous V14 characters to be able to reach V16 quickly by doing the quests available in IC, combined with some fighting, so they gave the V14 chars v15 for free.

Yeah, I really don't understand the rush (from VR15) to VR16 unless you're one of those extreme grinder types who must have a full set of maxed out VR16 gear yesterday. I don't know how soon I'll have such mats (not worrying about glyphs yet.. those will be a huge pain) so it's like, what's the point of max level. I'll still be in VR14 gear. lol

What? How can you hit 50 in that time frame? I'm switching between 3 characters which slows things down a bit but I've put in much more then 14 hours for each and there's still so many quests, the main quest and much of the zones left to explore. (none of them have officially reached their higher zone like Bangkorai, etc.)

I might be wrong but I don't think V14s got raised to (1 point from)V15 " for free". They only got raised if they had enough XP over V14 to reach the new V15 cap. If they didn't hit that mark, they didn't get raised.

EDIT:Agree on gear progression  They did say that because the VR system is so ingrained in all the..er tables and stuff..that it might take them a while to get rid of
I took ages 1 through 50 because I like to stop and smell the flowers. IC does give good XP

    I think what happened is saying you're going to remove vet ranks, and having a feasible plan for doing so are two different things. Every plan I've seen reminds me of this scene from Jurassic Park;

John Hammond: Don't worry, I'm not making the same mistakes again.
Dr. Ian Malcolm: No, you're making all new ones.

That doesn't happen in "normal" play. It happens when you do things a particular way, usually with some help, and usually with some kind of XP booster. If you're just playing the game this will not be true for you, or anyone else really.

I wish comments like the one you replied to were not just thrown out there like some undisputed fact. I mean, they are not lying, you can level that fast, it is not impossible, but it's also not going to happen by accident in the normal course of playing the game. Don't worry, you aren't really taking your time, you are playing like most people play. The 7-14 hours is the outlier. It's not the wrong way to play, but I wish people who levelled that fast didn't think it was or should be the norm.

Pretty sure its vr 14 with medium gear if you auto level. Yah I agree, raising the cap after the said they would get rid of Vet ranks would be the final step in the champion system is pretty crappy. They probably won't get rid of vet ranks, I'm sure that was one of their many lies.
However, in what MMO do they not raise the level? It wasn't for grinding it was for more gear that came with the content, pretty standard stuff for an MMO.

Agree. When I started playing ESO around May 2014 there were already a fair numbers of VR12s (max levels at the time) running around. Primarily playing in Cyrodiil during non-prime time hours since level 30ish, it took me til early August this year to reach VR14. Everyone's experience is different as it depends how you choose to play the game. It's unfortunate that it does take a very long time to get through vet ranks if you can only play a few hours a night.

Of course a long-time PvP'er is going to be better than a player who is new to PvP. It's a totally different playstyle. Limiting the difference of power would do nothing to fix this - it's a matter of time and practice. And if you need practice... that's what the non-vet campaign is for. Learn how to do it BEFORE you have to fight max level players.

One thing, search Wayrest Grind in youtube and you'll know how.
You need to be lvl 12 atleast to get xp (15 is recomended since mobs are lvl 17)
And you need a partner to grind it with.

    You're welcome :)

Don't forget they nerfed a crap ton of other things as well to make IC sets look that much better....

Make the current carrot crap and nerfed...So the next carrot becomes the new shiny carrot to aim for...Then wack some more nerfs in and start smacking that stick to get people to chase those new shiny carrots....

Then nerf it all again when the next DLC comes out...

VR 16 gear is just what VR 14 was last week before the nerfs....

VR16 was ******* pointless...ya instead of actually balancing champion points or I dunno fixing the looking for group tool, lets add two more pointless levels that people can achieve in less than a day to a system we said we were thinking of removing anyway.....

:D I had this game since 2 weeks after PC release and hit VR14 two days after they announced they were raising the cap to VR16. If that person is even level 30 they're already going faster than me, lol.

I think that the point of V16 is to SLOW down the progress that characters were making with Champion Points.

Once you get to V16 the difference between you and most mobs in Tamriel is so great that you benefit very little in the way of getting experience.

Very clever whoever thought that up.

Except that they never slowed the down the progress being made with CP. Every bit of experience that people earned while going to V16 still contributed to CP gains. It's not like they said NO YOU CANNOT GET CP UNTIL YOU HIT V16.

It's pointless in that it doesn't add any value to you personally as a player of this game.

It has a point for ZOS as they wanted to introduce more grinds and more gear and this is a backhanded way of making you want that stuff.

Of course they have just made the new gear actually desirable but they don't know how to do that. Instead, they grabbed all your old gear and restricted getting new gear to the IC so you would have to grind it.

Just as there would be a gap for any new player starting today & those sitting at vr14, without the raise in level. Plays another mmo. While the game does not have veteran levels, the top level is 80. 15 levels higher than this game.
